Tracking public Steam AI usage disclosures

AI Transparency Index is a searchable dataset for finding, comparing, and following how game developers disclose AI-generated content and AI usage on Steam.

What the index tracks

A searchable index of public AI usage disclosures on Steam. We collect the free-form text developers publish on Steam store pages, then make those disclosures searchable, filterable, and trackable over time.

Why?

AI disclosures are visible on individual store pages, but they are not easy to search, compare, or follow at index scale. This project turns those scattered disclosures into a public data set for gamers, game developers, researchers, journalists, and anyone curious about how AI is being disclosed in games.

Data sources

Currently indexing: Steam game AI disclosures. All data comes from public Steam product pages and related public metadata. No personal information is collected.

Methodology

We monitor Steam product data for games that declare AI content usage. When a disclosure is detected, we scrape the product page to extract the full disclosure text and store metadata. We also auto-classify the disclosure into broad categories and where AI appears, while keeping the original disclosure text as the source of truth.

Update frequency

New and changed Steam product records are checked continuously. Product pages are scraped after detection, and the index is updated as the pipeline processes those changes.
