Public Steam disclosure research 26,086 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some of the textures used in the UI and images were generated by AI.
All AI-generated visuals used in this project were produced using a Generative Adversarial Network trained exclusively on artwork to which we hold full copyright and usage rights. All generated artwork underwent manual intervention and polishing to ensure artistic quality.
This game utilizes AI in its programming code, images, and background music.
Some of the photos used in the game play have been added by AI generation.
Portions of the game's artwork are AI-generated. This innovative approach allows us to create unique and diverse visuals that enhance your gaming experience.
Some individual images are generated by AI
The opening cutscene was created using AI-generated visual assets. The ending cutscene includes a mix of AI-generated elements and original assets created and edited by the developer. No real-time AI generation occurs in game
Use in cover art
This game was developed by a solo developer using AI-assisted tools to support parts of the creative and technical workflow, including marketing materials, store page assets, music, and portions of code. All AI-assisted outputs were reviewed, refined, and integrated by the developer. No AI systems are used to generate content during gameplay.
Some visual elements (paintings and photos) use AI-generated images. All game systems and core mechanics are handcrafted and independent of generative AI.
Some visual assets, including banners and promotional materials, were created with the assistance of artificial intelligence. Avatars uses AI to bring player-created characters to life, generating dynamic conversations and unique personalities based on the traits you define.
Images for store page
A very small number of 3D models and 2D textures within the game were generated by AI and subsequently manually refined by artists.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in creating some visual materials for the store page and marketing assets. In addition, AI tools were utilized to generate or enhance certain pre-rendered in-game 2D assets, including some sprites, textures, and UI elements (such as profile pictures). This use is limited to non-critical graphical materials.

The game to contain art assets generated by artificial intelligence
Generated images for some paintings and photographs using AI.
In development, we used AI as a support tool for generating ideas and quick concept art in the early stages. The final game is based on ready-made assets and manual tweaking, so AI was used solely as an assistant in the creative process.
This game uses generative AI for some background images and music.
We use AI as a creative assistant to refine our English descriptions and ensure they are easy to read and engaging (since we are not native speakers). In addition, some of the game’s illustrations were created with the help of generative AI tools and later refined by human artists.
To focus more on the gameplay itself, some of the icons, sprites and logos have had AI-assisted rendering for the purpose of improving the final artistic presentation to the end user. Text to Speech tools have assisted in the generation of voice audio used within the menus and the main levels of the game.
Some artwork, text, background music, and in-game code were created with the assistance of generative AI tools.
AI is used for generating marketing material and for some in-game assets both as placeholders and as long term use assets. These could include, music, 3D models, icons, and character dialogue. AI is also used for code optimization.
This game uses generative AI to create some visual assets. These elements make up only a minor part of the overall development. AI was used for store page images and a few thumbnail images in the in‑game scenario selection screen.
Some character portraits were created with the assistance of generative AI and subsequently edited by hand. All game systems, writing, and design are made entirely by humans.
Small Number of small items/meshes and Images were generated by AI.
We use AI for Generated Image Capsule
AI was used to create 3D models, images, and voiceovers.
This game includes some pre-rendered content created with AI tools (such as visual assets, text, or audio). All AI-generated content is fixed and does not change during gameplay. No live AI generation occurs while playing.
Much of the enemy graphics were made with the help of generative AI. However, none of them are simply used "as is." Getting the artwork to match Hong Kong 97's SNES graphics requires downscaling resolution and adjusting contrast, saturation etc.
The entire game's artistic, musical, and programming assets were produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
In Police Chief we use AI tools to support development in creative ways, never for coding or game logic. AI helps us generate things like: - logos and design ideas - Randomized names, reports, and text responses - Suggestions and advice to improve features All core gameplay, systems, and programming are made by the development team. AI is only used to improve content of like callouts, reaction from NPC's etc.
A.I. generation was used in the creation of promotional materials via leonardo.ai (that's TOS permits commercial use) with custom inputs and subsequent tweaking with other art tools like GIMP as well as some sounds/audio via https://elevenlabs.io/ (also permitted for commercial use) then often modified in Audacity, but all images/videos/dialog/story in game are not the product of AI generation.
All property images in the game are generated using AI. This ensures unique visuals while avoiding copyright and privacy issues associated with real-world properties.
I used AI to write code in the game itself, as well as to create banners on Steam.
The background art was generated using Midjourney; however, everything else has been hand drawn and coded. As the game develops, the developer is hoping to completely re-do the background art with a professional. Please help him achieve this goal!
We use AI for capsules (Store Page)
The game logo is partly AI generated. One piece of music is AI generated. The computer voice is mainly AI generated.
Some text and images in this work were created using AI.
AI tools were used during production for certain assets. We review, modify, and polish everything to match the game’s style and quality.
AI tools were used only to assist in creating some 2D assets such as the store artwork, promotional images, and achievement icons, as well as to generate a few early design ideas. No AI systems or models are included or executed within the game. All logic, and final assets were verified manually. Some mechanics were configurated by AI but verified manually.
My approach to AI is that it's better for a game to come out with graphics drawn by a computer than not at all! I have had about TWENTY projects canceled at different times due to the fault of artists! So I'd rather lose part of an unhappy audience than lose it entirely again by relying on humans! All images created by neural networks are included in an external module and can be disabled or replaced with a custom file via Steam Workshop if desired.
AI was used to create rough sketches of the main character, which the artist then used to create the final images. AI was also used to check and edit the Japanese text.
Some of the music and images have been processed using AI.
Some of the SFX and 2D art assets are generated with the help from the AI
Some art and music resources are processed using AI plus manual work.
Artificial intelligence was used in the game’s capsule image.
