Public Steam disclosure research25,380 disclosures tracked
Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
I design all core algorithms myself, and AI is used only to help write code snippets and to produce some pre-rendered promotional assets such as images. All outputs are reviewed and manually integrated into the project. AI is not used to generate any in-game content or real-time code during gameplay.
We use AI tools to support various parts of our development process:
Coding assistance: AI helps streamline parts of the game development by suggesting or optimizing code.
Concept art: We collaborate with our artists to generate AI-assisted concept art, allowing us to iterate faster during early visual development.
Marketing: Occasionally, we use AI tools in combination with our VFX and music teams to create promotional videos.
Voice acting: We use AI-generated sample lines to guide voice actors during recording sessions and provide reference tone and pacing.
We use AI to generate the music you hear in the trailer(s), and have used it to refine our descriptions of the game as you see on Steam. Occasionally we may use AI to assist us in coding the game, or completely write parts of code for our game. However, during gameplay there are no parts of AI used, what you see in the game when it comes to art, 3D-models, effects, etc., is made manually without AI, with the exception being parts of the code.
As a solo developer, I use Generative AI in limited, clearly defined ways during the development of Anomaly Island.
This includes:
Assisting in the creation of certain UI elements
Helping with coding learning and a small number of the sound effects
Generating quick previews of marketing materials via in-game screenshots lightly animated into short clips for promotional use
All AI-assisted marketing assets are explicitly labeled and further edited or composited using traditional tools, such as Adobe After Effects.
All unlabeled images, screenshots, and videos shown on this Steam page or in official trailers are directly captured from real in-engine gameplay with no generative AI manipulation.
No environments, models, animations, gameplay systems, level design, or narrative content are AI-generated.
AI was used in the generation for much of the games base code and was used throughout when generating different conversations etc.
AI was also used in generating assets used in marketing, which appear on the store page.
This is an independently developed game. Generative AI tools are used as an auxiliary creative method in certain development processes, including art design and assisted code development.
All AI-generated assets and code snippets have undergone original conceptualization by the developer, manual modification, detailed refinement, and strict review, ensuring that all content is legal and compliant, stylistically consistent, and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Aroya Knight is developed in Godot with a focus on precision and hand-crafted systems. While generative AI assisted in the early conceptual stages of asset creation, every asset has been manually crafted to ensure a cohesive aesthetic. Most importantly, all code is hand-written—including the 3,000+ line player controller—to guarantee the tight, responsive gameplay essential for a high-stakes Metroidvania.
Parts of the game’s code were created with the assistance of AI tools. All game assets are designed and created by our team. The game itself does not use AI features such as live-generated content, textures, or behavior.
This game uses AI-assisted images, text, and code created during development; all content was reviewed and edited by the developer, and no AI content is generated during gameplay.
In this project, we utilized AI solely for source code generation assistance.
Additionally, we employed AI-generated art for certain materials on the Steam page and promotional announcements.
Certain mechanics and rendering optomizations were created using LLM(s). Majority of the code was written by me and some parts were taken from copyright-free tutorials on Youtube and Stack Overflow.
No AI art, no AI music, no AI sounds, no AI dialouges/descriptions/names, no vibe coding was used during development of game. Only: very small misc UI elements, some smaller closed coding elements like some shaders and AI machine translation for every steam supported language excluding English, Polish and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).
All in-game art was created by real human artists.
The AI tool Cursor (a programming IDE) was used to help with developing the code for the game itself.
The initial background of the icon used for the game was generated using AI tools.
Use of AI on the Store Page
Generative AI is used for localization of some languages on the store page.
Use of AI Within the App
Generative AI is used in the creation of some program code.
Generative AI is used in the creation of some sound effects and background music used in the game.
This game was developed with the assistance of Artificial Intelligence tools. AI was used to generate some visual elements such as concept art, textures, and 3D models, and to support parts of the programming process. All AI-generated content was reviewed, refined, and integrated by the developer to ensure consistency with the game’s artistic direction and design.
Use of AI in Development
Artificial intelligence has been used as a creative and technical assistant throughout the development of Portal Beasts.
AI tools have supported the process in several ways:
💻 Code Assistance: Helping to write, optimize, and debug gameplay systems in Godot, including combat logic, monster AI, animations, and UI functionality.
🎨 Graphic Support: Generating concept art, logo variations, and promotional visuals inspired by the game’s pixel art style.
🧠 Design Feedback: Providing ideas, structure, and iteration support for gameplay mechanics, interface layouts, and presentation materials (like Steam assets).
All AI-generated material has been curated, refined, and integrated manually to ensure it fits the artistic and gameplay vision of Portal Beasts.
AI is used for cinematic cutscenes and certain art assets, but the majority of the work is done manually.
Similarly, code workflows include partial generation for certain C++, C#, and HLSL functions.
Music is generated with Suno AI as a placeholder, we are validating the concept first, our goal is to hire real artists. We <3 creators. We also used it as a coding assistant and for translating.
This game does not use AI for player-facing features. Players do not interact with AI systems, and the game does not connect to any external AI services. AI tools were only used during development to help identify code errors and provide a starting point for fixing some technical issues. All gameplay content is pre-made and manually reviewed.
This game uses generative AI for coding assistance and translation reference.
All in-game graphics, music, and sound effects are created by human creators and do not contain AI-generated content.
*This excludes placeholder assets used during development (including demos) and third-party assets.
During development, AI were partially used to assist with improving code readability. All final content was reviewed, edited, and integrated manually by the developer.
AI has been used during development to assist with creating images, text descriptions, and code. No AI-generated content is produced while the game is running.
PonySide use Human made assets, for the Art, Icons, Dialogs and Music.
For the development of PonySide we use some AI generated Code, some items descriptions or dialogs may be AI generated as placeholder before the dev write them properly.
We may use AI generated icons when we cannot find an icon for an item in the assets pack we're using.
But again we value our artist we work with and human made assets.
We used AI tools during the development process solely to assist in writing standard game scripts (coding assistance) and to generate musical notation for some background tracks. The game does not use any AI generation in real-time; all assets are pre-made.
I utilized generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools during the development of this game. The specific applications are as follows:
Art & Visual Assets: Generative AI was used to create a portion of the in-game images, textures, and visual concept art. All such assets were subsequently refined and optimized manually.
Music & Sound Effects: Certain background music and audio assets were generated using AI tools to enhance the overall auditory experience.
Programming & Development: AI-generated code snippets were integrated into the development process, and AI tools were utilized to assist in code optimization and troubleshooting of game logic.
AI was used to generate the majority of the visual assets and large portions of common code in Python, Cython, and Shaders. The models used span ChatGPT 3 to 5. No live AI generation occurs during game. All assets are pre-rendered and packaged.
"The game's visual and audio assets (art, sound, music, and primary narrative) do not contain generative AI content. The development process utilized standard algorithmic tools for code generation and debugging assistance. Gameplay relies on basic procedural and deterministic logic (e.g., enemy spawning, score calculation)."
