Public Steam disclosure research 25,706 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Generative AI was used to create the main promotional image/poster displayed on the Steam Store Page. All in-game content, code, and assets were created by the developer
The game includes pre-generated AI-assisted assets. These consist of HUD/UI elements, some static in-game images, and a limited number of 3D assets. All AI-generated content is fixed and does not change during gameplay. No AI systems are used for real-time content generation or player interaction.
We use generative AI tools during development to create some pre-rendered visual assets such as the game logo, key art, thumbnails, and parts of the intro video. All in-game characters, environments, UI, and gameplay systems are manually authored and do not use AI during runtime. No player data or user-generated content is sent to AI services while the game is running.
The game used Elevenlabs.io Text-To-Speech to create the game voice over.
Generative AI was used during the development process as an assistant for writing code scripts and debugging. Additionally, AI tools were utilized to assist with the translation of in-game text for localization purposes. All AI-generated content has been reviewed and edited by the developers.
Generative AI was used to create the background images for the store page and the game's start screen. All other assets, including characters and source code, were developed without the use of generative AI.
AI tools were used during development to create certain character artwork and some sound effects. All gameplay content is pre-rendered, and no AI generates new content while the game is being played.
All images used for the game's visuals were generated using the Bing Image Creator (Microsoft Copilot Designer). The background music includes tracks that were created and mastered using generative AI. No AI was involved in coding or core game design
Artificial intelligence was used to create visual and audio.
The only AI-assisted elements are the background music and a small number of app-style icons used in the UI, all created during development and included as fixed assets.
We utilized generative AI tools to assist our human artists in the creation of certain graphic assets for the game. This primarily includes generating base concepts, textures, and background elements.
Environment tiles are assisted by AI tools to support the game’s art development. We intend to get rid of this IA asset as soon as possible. All gameplay and player content is fully created and controlled by the developers
Some minor 2D assets, such as item icons, were created with the assistance of AI tools and later manually edited. All final assets used in the game are fixed, reviewed, and do not generate content during gameplay.
I design all core algorithms myself, and AI is used only to help write code snippets and to produce some pre-rendered promotional assets such as images. All outputs are reviewed and manually integrated into the project. AI is not used to generate any in-game content or real-time code during gameplay.
Before I get into this, I'd like to say that I am a professional game designer, writer, sprite artist, video animator, music producer, and audio engineer. I worked in the industry for a number of years, and deciding on whether or not to use gen AI was not something I took lightly. I know there are a lot of feelings about this right now, and I understand why a lot of people are hurting, but ultimately, I felt that it enhances the will and talent of the end user. I use programs that claim they are trained on models that own the rights to the content, or are trained on open source materials. This game uses a limited amount of generative AI for content. About 50% of the art assets are generated, then carefully tailored for visual cohesion. Currently, very little animation is done with generative AI, but this could change in the future. The music is 100% human created by Punch Deck. The voiceover is 100% generative AI. Depending on funding, this could change in the future.
Some backgrounds in the game were provided by an external creator and were created using AI tools.
Artificial intelligence tools were used to enhance and refine the capsule artwork for the game's Steam store page, with the final result further edited and finalized manually.
Some images were generated by AI.
LLMs were used in the localization of the store page and the game.
Warvox uses AI-generated artwork only for promotional images on the Steam store page. The game itself does not use generative AI for gameplay, visuals, characters, environments, quests, dialogue, audio, or story content. All in-game assets, systems, and content are created and authored by the development team. Any AI referenced within gameplay refers solely to traditional, non-generative game AI systems such as enemy behavior, combat logic, pathfinding, and decision-making. These systems do not generate new content and do not modify player-facing assets. No generative AI alters player content, visuals, progression, or narrative during gameplay.
We use AI tools to support various parts of our development process: Coding assistance: AI helps streamline parts of the game development by suggesting or optimizing code. Concept art: We collaborate with our artists to generate AI-assisted concept art, allowing us to iterate faster during early visual development. Marketing: Occasionally, we use AI tools in combination with our VFX and music teams to create promotional videos. Voice acting: We use AI-generated sample lines to guide voice actors during recording sessions and provide reference tone and pacing.
We use AI to generate the music you hear in the trailer(s), and have used it to refine our descriptions of the game as you see on Steam. Occasionally we may use AI to assist us in coding the game, or completely write parts of code for our game. However, during gameplay there are no parts of AI used, what you see in the game when it comes to art, 3D-models, effects, etc., is made manually without AI, with the exception being parts of the code.
As a solo developer, I use Generative AI in limited, clearly defined ways during the development of Anomaly Island. This includes: Assisting in the creation of certain UI elements Helping with coding learning and a small number of the sound effects Generating quick previews of marketing materials via in-game screenshots lightly animated into short clips for promotional use All AI-assisted marketing assets are explicitly labeled and further edited or composited using traditional tools, such as Adobe After Effects. All unlabeled images, screenshots, and videos shown on this Steam page or in official trailers are directly captured from real in-engine gameplay with no generative AI manipulation. No environments, models, animations, gameplay systems, level design, or narrative content are AI-generated.
AI is used for 3d assets and some coding
Generative artificial intelligence tools were used in a limited capacity during development to assist with asset creation and efficiency. In-game content and materials were manually reviewed, refined, and finalized by the developer.
AI tools were used to generate content for both the game and its store presence. Specifically, AI was used to create marketing materials and capsule images for the store page. In-game, AI was utilized to create visual assets for units and buildings, as well as video elements for the studio intro and the main menu.
All icons in the game were created by AI.
AI has been used to develop flavour text of items.
I used AI to generate code to speed up the development of the game.
“AI tools were used to assist in creating certain visual assets, including store page images, main menu buttons, several in-game paintings, and one jumpscare image that appears during gameplay. AI is not used for gameplay systems, mechanics, code, or player interaction.”

This is an independently developed game. Generative AI tools are used as an auxiliary creative method in certain development processes, including art design and assisted code development. All AI-generated assets and code snippets have undergone original conceptualization by the developer, manual modification, detailed refinement, and strict review, ensuring that all content is legal and compliant, stylistically consistent, and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Some promotional images are AI-generated.
Some art work is modified by AI and some generated from designs or outlines
Icons and logos in-game and for marketing may be created with the use of AI
Generative AI was used during the development process to assist in creating 2D UI assets (icons) and drafting text for the store page and item descriptions. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and finalized by the developer to ensure it fits the game's aesthetic and does not contain infringing material. The game does not generate any content live via AI during gameplay.
Aroya Knight is developed in Godot with a focus on precision and hand-crafted systems. While generative AI assisted in the early conceptual stages of asset creation, every asset has been manually crafted to ensure a cohesive aesthetic. Most importantly, all code is hand-written—including the 3,000+ line player controller—to guarantee the tight, responsive gameplay essential for a high-stakes Metroidvania.
AI tools are used to assist in the creation of some pre-rendered content, such as concept imagery, promotional visuals, or draft marketing assets (for example, store page artwork or community images). This game uses AI-generated content for a small number of in-game item images and some UI elements. All gameplay systems, and core assets are created manually.
the games does NOT use AI AI is used for the steam capsules only.
AI was used for some of the sound effects.
This game uses generative AI tools during development for text, art assets, audio content, voice recognition features, and selected marketing materials. All content is reviewed and implemented by the developer.

Throughout the game, there are displayed lines of code written out that serve as flavor text and effects for many elements of the game's UI & visuals. This huge amount of text was generated by ChatGPT with the express instruction that none of it is really functional, but visually plausible C# code.
Some art assets were created with AI-assisted tools using my prompts and then edited/painted over by me for consistency and final polish
We use AI-generated images for cutscenes, standing illustrations, and action resources.
"AI was used to generate some images such as loading screens or character portraits."
Logo is generated by AI.
I'm a solo developer making this game entirely on my own with a zero budget. Without AI, I would've gone mad creating such a massive project. It would've taken around 15 years just to reach Early Access. To be completely transparent: during development, I may use AI tools to assist with content creation, primarily for routine tasks. However, everything is always manually reviewed and refined by me. The workflow is strictly: My work → AI → My work.
AI was used to generate the store images and splash page for Dungeonfall.
