Public Steam disclosure research 25,380 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some images and music are generated by AI through pure text descriptions.
The image materials on the store page are drawn by AI
Character designs are created manually by artists and writers. We use AI to speed up the drawing of backgrounds and planets. AI is not used to generate content directly during the game.
Some of the SFX, BGM, and illustrations were created using generative AI.
1. The Windows desktop icon of planet earth. 2. The in-game music tracks were created using AI, with appropriate in-game credit given. The main menu music, however, was composed by the developer.
The music in the game has been made with assistance from Suno.ai. Roughly a third of the tracks were generated fully or in part by Suno.ai and later edited to fit the game's world. There are many tracks made by myself, and an individual hired from Fiverr.com which use no AI and are fully original works.
We are using AI for the localization of Galactic Space Guard. It is also used for translating texts in the community section. So it is merely used for translation, the texts are still handwritten and translated in languages we are not capable of speaking. This is the only application of AI in Galactic Space Guard.
Game contains AI generated textures.
AI generates a few images and icons, reviewed manually.
I use a combination of AI generated voice, music, and some imagery for portraits and logos
Yes, the game uses generative AI for voiceovers. Character voices were created using ElevenLabs during development, but no real-time AI generation occurs during gameplay.
"We used Midjourney to generate some of the artwork for our game, but we modified and adapted it using programs like Canva and Photoshop, all legally purchased under a commercial license. The content was reviewed and modified by our team to ensure it complies with Steam standards." We guarantee that all our assets are 100% original, developed in-house, without using third-party content. We fully comply with Steam’s guidelines, ensuring that our game respects copyright laws and provides an authentic and exclusive experience for players.
Cutscenes and music were designed and generated by AI tools.
The Background Scenery Images on Each Level, but not all, were generated by myself using ChatGPT DALL-E. The The Gameplay Enemy Sprites and Player are also generated by myself using ChatGPT DALL-E. Code and Particle Effects were done in Gamemaker Studio 2. Music was composed using Suno Music. No AI images, Music or code or any game elements are generated during gameplay. No copyright content used.
Some images in the game were generated using AI. These images are displayed throughout the game as gallery artwork and posters. None of it depicts nudity or sexual situations of any kind. Also some of the images are also used as icons and artwork in the store game description page.
- Simple scripting, code optimization. - Some generated background images (< 10%) - All speech
Most in-game sprites and item art in this game were generated using DALL·E. As a solo developer, generative AI tools allow me to create a breadth of visual content that would otherwise not have been possible. All assets were carefully selected, curated, and integrated to ensure they align with the game's vision and quality.
AI-generated artifacts
AI was used to help create some of the store assets and marketing materials.
Some visual elements of the game, including promotional graphics, were created using artificial intelligence.
AI was used to create some images. Textures are generated programmatically, not by AI.
A-Genro is an AI-powered rover that learns from the way you play. Whether it’s your strategy, movement, or combat style, it picks up on your habits and adapts to help you play smarter. Over time, it becomes a personal assistant in the game, giving you support when things get tough and even taking over in auto-pilot mode when needed. The more you play, the better A-Genro gets—becoming a powerful ally that matches your skills and helps you level up your game. Train it, trust it, and let it take your gameplay to the next level!
Some of the background images, such as the one in the game main menu, and the promotional ones, have been generated with generative AI
Some of the pictures and digital murals in the scene were generated using a combination of digital hand-painting and AIGC technology
I used AI to create the game logo and help write descriptions for store page.
AI was used for menu in game
Some Graphics, icons or design
Some image assets in the game of lesser importance (character portraits, item icons) are made using a process that includes AI image generation. This will be replaced with original artwork in the final product.
AI generated images for upgrade cards.
Voiceovers, some marketing content, and a few textures were partially generated in AI and then used with artist created art assets or real-photography.
AI has been used for the capsule art.
Cutscene backgrounds are partially AI generated. Store page and main menu have partially AI generated backgrounds.
As a solo indie dev with very limited resources, and also not a native English speaker. I use AI to assist with writing for both in-game and store page content, and translate the game to other languages.
AI has been used to help develop the game's cover art.
The sound of the game was produced using Generative AI
Some of the game’s loading screens and UI icons / character portraits were created using AI tools during development. These assets are pre-generated (i.e. not generated in real-time during gameplay), are original, and do not depict real people or copyrighted material. All rights are retained by the developer.
We used AI to generate some of the background images for our game.
We have used AI currently to generate descriptions and titles for our levels, as well as help improve our store page descriptions. AI has been used to assist in a bit of programming as well, and generated the image for the splash screen.
Game logo art was made using Microsoft Co-pilot.
The in-game music was AI-generated for budgetary reasons. This does not affect gameplay or the real-time user experience.
This game includes some content created with the assistance of AI tools. All AI‑generated assets have been reviewed, refined, and integrated to ensure originality and compliance with copyright and trademark standards.
Pre-Generated Content AI Tools: I used Bigbigai (https://www.bigbigai.com) and ERNIE Bot (https://yiyan.baidu.com/) for pre-generated content. Usage: Bigbigai: Primarily used to generate all character images, all spaceship images, all cityscape images, all planet images, and some background images. These assets are used in the store interface and the game itself. ERNIE Bot: Mainly used to generate a small portion of character dialogue and the majority of translation content (from Chinese to English). Commitment: All content generated through AI tools is original and does not contain any infringing materials. We strictly adhere to copyright laws, ensuring that all materials used and content generated have legal usage rights or have been authorized by the original creators. Additionally, we ensure that this content aligns with the overall style, storyline, and gameplay of the game, providing players with a more vivid and immersive gaming experience. Version 1.07: Utilizes third-party AI-generated character images and partial textual content. Version 1.08: Old AI-generated images, such as background Image (cities) and ships, have been reimagined using new AI technology.
Generative AI was only used to assist with creating character portraits and game's soundtracks.
The logo is made from generative AI, but nothing else.
We have generated art concepts using AI before artists render final art.
Some in-game assets were created with AI-assisted tools during production, including UI icons, portions of the cinematic intro sequence. These assets were reworked by our team before shipping. No content is generated by AI during gameplay.
Some audio assets have been created using generative AI.
This game is programmed using AI.

Image generation is used for quick concepts and temporary assets during development. LLMs are used for temporary localization, proofreading, research, and boilerplate or other low-impact code (such as tests). Music, sound effects, text, and voice acting are entirely human-made. No AI-generated art will be present in the released game.
