Public Steam disclosure research 25,882 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
The only use of AI for the game as a whole is the steam page description, everything else is made by me as a solo dev
Character modeling assisted by AI AI-assisted generation of selected UI graphics AI-assisted creation of background music and character voiceovers
Generative AI was used only at early stages to create rough visual references for some artwork (including in-game visual effects and store page materials). All final assets were fully redrawn, edited, and created manually by the developer.
graphic assets used in this game and its marketing materials were created with the help of generative AI tools.
The background images and rodents pictures are pre-rendered AI art
Generative AI is used only for 2D marketing assets, icons and loading screens.
The game was programmed by the developer. AI was used as a code-reviewer and suggested changes were implemented within individual functions. Some sound effects were AI generated. Others were legally sourced or recorded by the developer. All sound effects were edited by the developer. To the best of my knowledge, no AI generated images exist in this game. Every animation in the game was made by the developer. Some of the background objects, tile sprites, and fire sprites were sourced from legally purchased asset packs and then modified by the developer.
Some art assets in the game are generated by AI
Only certain visual assets such as the cover art, banners, and installation icons were created using AI. No in-game content, gameplay elements, or narrative assets were generated with AI.
Some AI sound effects and music.
Used to generate a few picture frame images and faces for the Missing Persons. They are not real people.
Used generative AI to make so basic textures used for the floor
Currently, AI-generated content is being used for the store page, marketing materials, and/or community center materials to showcase a general vision of the game's future during the early development phase (game screenshots are labeled as "Prototype"), but with the subsequent removal and implementation of original content.
Some game assets are AI generated,
Some images on the store page and in game were created using AI tools.
We used AI to generate a dictionary and words database in-order to create a robust rule-based engine for light-weight chat simulation. We've also used AI as a second level review to discover memory leaks/exploits.
We used AI for the game’s language translation descriptions, the Steam capsule image, and some in-game visuals.
In Coffee Coffin, AI is used behind the scenes to enhance dialogue and audiovisual presentation for the player: Reactive Dialogue: AI is primarily used to generate real-time, context-aware dialogue lines between the player and in-game characters (wandering souls). These lines are created within fixed narrative frameworks and safety filters; players do not enter free-form prompts. Art & Media Asset Generation: Outside of dialogue, AI is mainly used to create and vary game art assets, including: Character and illustration variants Backgrounds and visual effects Music and ambient soundscapes Sound effects Voice-over lines Short in-game videos / cutscenes All of these are delivered to the player as finished in-game content. Players never access AI models directly, cannot upload their own media, and do not interact with raw prompts or generation tools.
You can place this directly in the Steam form. This game does not use generative AI during gameplay. No in-game content is created, altered, or influenced by AI while the player is playing. AI was used only during development to assist with the creation of store page images and marketing materials.
Some of the promotional and storefront images were created with AI tools and then refined by hand. All of the in-game assets were designed by a 3D artist.
AI-generated content—most of the artwork, aside from the UI, is generated or modified by AI.
Some sequence frame animations, UI, images, and other art assets are generated using AI, accounting for about 30% of the game's content.
Some of the audio in the game was generated by AI.
The game logo and some in-game assets are generated by AI
Pre-Generated AI was used for: - Background artwork - Character illustrations All AI-generated content was reviewed and edited by the developer. No Live-Generated AI is used in this game.
Some visual puzzle artwork in this game was created using AI-assisted tools during development. All content is pre-rendered and fixed, and no AI-generated content is created or modified during gameplay.
Some visual assets used in Static Watch were created with the assistance of generative AI tools and then manually edited and integrated by the developer. Generative AI is not used during gameplay, and no content is generated dynamically or in real time for players.
I use AI to debug my existing code so I don't need to spend time looking at documentation. I also use AI to generate some of the art but not all of it.
Some of the promotional and storefront images were created with AI tools and then refined by hand. All of the in-game assets were designed by a 3D artist.

We use AI selectively to generate pre-rendered backgrounds for our games, as well as supporting assets for store page, marketing materials and game assets, while ensuring all content is polished to maintain a consistent artistic style.
I translated the game with online tools to support other languages than English and French
Some game assets and sounds were generated by AI.
Some AI-generated images are used in the game background.
Some objects, music, and sounds were generated using AI.
AI tools have been used to help generate the store graphics, which were then edited for final use. No AI tools have been used for any game content. All art in the game is self-made.
AI is used only for text translation.
Parts of the background image of characters are generated by AI. All the Localizations are generated by AI. Others assets like character image/UI/voice are hand-made.
Some of the game's visual assets and parts of the soundtrack were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. These AI-generated outputs were then manually edited, curated, and refined by the developers before being included in the game. All AI-assisted content is pre-generated; no live-generated AI content is used during gameplay.
Some visual elements in the third game were partially created using AI-assisted tools (Leonardo AI). All gameplay and design remain hand-crafted by the developer.
I used AI for generating some images
The following uses generated AI content: -Illustrations displayed in the game -Music played in the game
Font and Translations
AI was used to generate background music (BGM).
This game uses AI to generate some scene art assets and the game theme song; the localization text is translated with AI assistance.
Menu images, and select sprites were created using generative AI and manually edited.
If you could peek inside my code or topology, you would BEG me to use AI to fix it. BUT NO. This crap is handmade and stays that way! The soundtrack, however, is a hybrid: I used generative AI to create raw textures, which I then manually arranged and mixed.
5 images were made by AI, but the model was trained by images owned.
Store page capsule image was sketched by a human artist and refined using AI. AI was also used for localization.
