Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
AI tools created the models, textures, skies, art, music and sound effects during development. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
The game's code was written with AI assistance. The art is also made by AI.
Elya uses generative AI for optional real-time character conversations and synthesized speech. AI-assisted tools were also used to prepare portions of the store localization and selected marketing artwork. The game includes bundled local models, and users may optionally connect compatible third-party AI services or configure their own providers. Live-generated content is based on user input and character settings.
I used AI tools to turn my sketches into clean vector (SVG) art: the goblin, the cards, the decorations, the logo and the store images. The text of this store page was written with AI help, from my own notes and my own story, and edited by me. The game does not create any AI content while you play: everything you see was made before release.
various visual assets and materials for Too Many Orbs! were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All AI-generated content was reviewed, refined, and integrated by the developer to ensure consistency with the game's artistic direction and quality standards.
The game is made by a single developer, with help from two friends. I used generative AI for some of the artwork (backgrounds, portraits, icons, book covers, record sleeves, skies) and for some of the music, selecting, editing and integrating every asset by hand. 3D models were bought from their creators, taken from free libraries or made in Blender, and sound effects come from free sound libraries: all authors are credited in the game.
Pre-generated content: AI tools assisted during development. Some in-game text (commentary, TV show dialogue), the translations and the store page text were written with AI assistance, and the pixel art, music and sound effects are generated by scripts written with AI assistance. All of this content has been reviewed, approved and modified by the developer. No content is generated by AI while the game is running.
This game was made by one developer working with an AI coding assistant. No image, audio or video generators were used — there are no model-generated assets in the files. Every sprite is drawn by the game's own art generator, and all music and sound effects are synthesised at runtime from square, triangle and noise waves. However, the code that draws and synthesises them was written with the AI assistant, as was much of the in-game text and the English localisation. All of it was directed, reviewed and revised by the developer. No AI runs while you play, and the game never connects to an external service.
Table Night has an optional AI LLM game master: if the host turns it on with their own AI account, a language model narrates the match and judges what players write, while the game rolls the dice and decides every result. The AI is instructed to keep everything suitable for teens. Players' text is sent to the host's AI provider, and any table can be played with a human game master or none instead.
The songs currently featured in the ORECATRAZ demo and playtest were created using AI. During the playtest phase, we aim to connect with musicians who enjoy the game and share our creative vision. Our goal is to replace these AI-generated songs with original music composed specifically for Orecatraz.
AI generated the music for this game
Art assets were generated and human reviewed. Localization was AI-translated and separately AI-reviewed.
AI tools were used to help translate the game's text into other languages and to draft the store page copy. All of it was reviewed by the developer. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play.
During development, AI tools assisted with modifying some existing 3D models, procedurally generating some original models and sound effects, coding, and translating the developer's own ending text. All other assets are licensed asset packs, Creative Commons music and real recordings. No AI content is generated during play.
Generative AI was used to assist with coding and localization, and as part of the production workflow for some artwork and music.
During development, generative AI was used to create some graphical assets and assist with translation from Japanese into other languages. This includes content used in the game, on the store page, and in promotional materials. The gaem does not use generative AI to generate content during gameplay.
A few in-game images were generated with an AI image tool and edited by the developer. The game's translations were drafted with AI tools and reviewed by the developer. All other art, sound and design were made by the developer.
Parts of the game's code, interface art, store artwork and store text were created with the help of AI tools and then reviewed and edited by the developer. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Some text in the game and on the store page, including translations, was written with the help of AI tools.
The game's code, some graphics, were created with AI assistance
AI tools helped create some artwork, textures, visual effects, sound effects, ambience, instrumental music, translations, and store text. These are pre-generated, fixed assets. No AI content is generated and no third-party AI service is contacted during gameplay.
Pre-generated AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation and refinement of selected visual assets, localization text, and marketing materials. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer before inclusion in the game or store materials. The game does not generate AI content in real time during gameplay.
Some content in this game and its store materials was created with the help of generative AI: - Sound effects and background music were generated with Stable Audio (Stability AI) and edited by the developer. - The trailer narration was generated with ElevenLabs. - The store capsule artwork was created with Google's image-generation AI (Nano Banana) and finished by hand. Cat vocalizations (meows, purrs, hisses) are real recordings, not AI-generated. The game does not generate any content with AI during gameplay.
Generative AI tools were used to assist with the creation of some pre-generated marketing text and promotional content for the game. The game does not use live-generated AI during gameplay.
Generative AI was used to create some of the game's content. The illustrations and the characters (character designs and artwork and models) were created with the help of generative AI tools, then selected, edited and integrated by the developer. Some English localization text (UI and character descriptions) and the store page description were also drafted with an AI assistant and reviewed and edited by the developer. The game does not generate any content with AI while it is running.
Generative AI was used only as a supporting tool for the design of some fictional potions, selected game artwork, and language translation.
Frogs Can Jump uses generative AI only as a writing aid during development. The game's text content (interface text) localization into the 14 supported interface languages were produced with the assistance of large language models, directed and reviewed by the developer. Parts of this store page were drafted the same way. No AI-generated images, audio or video are used: all artwork, animation and sound in the game are produced by hand-written procedural code. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play, and it never connects to an external AI service.
The game's sound effects were created with AI audio-generation tools during development, then selected and level-matched by the developer. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Gemstroids is a solo project, designed and directed by the developer. Art, music, sound effects, the in-game and store page texts and all translations were made with AI tools, then selected, edited and brought into one style by the developer.
We used AI tools to help write some of the text in the game and on this store page.
Generative AI tools were used for parts of this game during development: some story and dialogue text, the English localization, store page text, and some of the code that draws patterns and shapes. The developer directed all of it, chose what to keep, and reviewed and edited every piece. The music and sound effects were not made with AI, and nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Bouncery is made by a solo developer. I used generative AI tools to help with programming and to translate the game.
Character, enemy and background pixel art was created with AI image tools (ChatGPT, PixelLab) from photos of our real dog and cat and our own design notes, then edited, cut and arranged by the developer. Sprite animations were generated with PixelLab from that art. Game code was written with AI coding assistance (Claude) under the developer's direction. All game text was written or approved by the developer. The music is original, written note by note as code with AI coding assistance (Claude) and rendered with the free GeneralUser GS SoundFont; no AI audio generation and nothing sampled.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with certain pre-generated content, including localization and selected visual assets. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and edited by the developer before being included in the game. The game does not use generative AI during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
Generative AI was used to create some of the game's illustrations and graphical assets, as well as artwork for the Steam store page, including capsule images.
Description is assisted by AI (temporary)
Full disclaimer - Some code, artworks have been AI generated, through a custom model trained on images that were built specifically for the game with the kind assistance of a graphic designer friend of mine. I'm a solo dev with limited budget and I'm doing this out of passion - I just wouldn't have been able to build it without these tools
Store images are ai generated.
AI tools were used to fix code.
Text content (both language editions and the store page) and graphics were created with the assistance of generative AI (Claude by Anthropic) and reviewed and approved by the developer. Sound effects are taken from a free online sound library (CC0 and CC BY) and are not AI-generated. The game does not generate any content with AI while running.
The code base is built with help from AI including artwork and sounds.
Except for gameplay design and some sound effects and art assets, the game’s code, 3D models, localization text, and other content were generated by GPT during development. Development was carried out through direct conversations with the 6.0-Astra and 6.1sol large language models, without predefined workflows or external Skills. The 3D models were created from written descriptions and reference images, with GPT writing and executing Blender scripts. All such content was created during development. The game does not use generative AI to create content in real time during gameplay. In the future, we may use newer large language models to further improve the game’s art quality and visual presentation, while comparing how different large language models perform in game development.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with localization, translation drafts, and selected promotional artwork. All AI-assisted content is pre-generated and reviewed before use. No generative AI is used at runtime.
The store texts and parts of the game's content, such as text and some 3D models, were made with the help of generative AI and then reviewed and edited by the developer. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Some pre-made assets were created with the help of generative AI tools and then selected and edited by the developers: power-up card illustrations, achievement icons, store and key art, and some 3D chess piece models for cosmetic sets. The game does not generate any AI content while you play.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in creating graphic design assets and store promotional media.
AI was used in this game was to compose the images and create the animation. Bird characters are hand drawn. Music and SFX are human engineered. There is no dynamic use of AI to generate live content.
- Background Music
The in-game pixel art (fields, characters, vehicles, backgrounds, etc.), sound effects, and skill icons in this title were rendered and composited using a program created by AI under the developer’s direction, and were then reviewed and adjusted by the developer. The AI does not generate any content while the game is being played.
