Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
AI was used as a coding assistant and for assistance with sprite animation. However none of the art was fully generated by AI. All art, be it music or drawn, was originally created by myself, the sole developer, or from open source creators.
All of the game's code was generated using generative AI, and no code was manually written by the developer. The gameplay, levels, balancing, controls, and overall player experience were entirely designed, directed, tested, and ultimately approved by a human creator.
This game uses a custom-built local AI language model running entirely on the player's machine via the proprietary GROLAF3D ENGINE. The AI generates all dialogue, actions, and narrative responses from the kidnapper character in real time during gameplay. No internet connection is required and no player input is transmitted to external servers. The AI also powers an optional voice synthesis system for spoken responses. All AI-generated content is produced live based on player input and is unique to each session.
The Steam store page banners and promotional creatives for the app were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. The in-game assets were either created manually or edited afterwards, but the visual materials used for marketing (such as header images, capsules, and promotional banners) include AI-generated elements.
AI Disclosure (Text Content):
This game uses generative AI to assist in creating in-game text descriptions, specifically for:
Game Concepts & Descriptions: Some fictional game ideas and descriptions within the simulation are pre-generated using AI text models.
Manual Oversight: All AI-generated text has been manually reviewed and edited by the developer to ensure it contains no prohibited content and aligns with the game's creative direction.
No real-time AI generation occurs during gameplay.
Some parts of this game were created with the assistance of generative AI tools, including certain visual assets, sounds, and code.
All AI-generated content has been reviewed and modified by the developer to ensure quality and consistency.
AI tools were used to accelerate game development and localization.
No real-time AI generation during gameplay.
The game contains a humorous nod to AI culture inspired by the development process.
Generative AI was used to create a few very specific, minor promotional images and texture enhancements. Everything else; including plane textures, sprites, UI, and airport layouts, was entirely hand crafted by a single human developer using free editing tools like GIMP, Canva, PowerPoint, and MSPaint.
AI tools were used during development to help generate select visual assets and concepts. These assets were reviewed, refined, and integrated into the game by the developer to ensure consistency with the overall style and experience.
Empetiti: Quest for the Pinnacle uses generative AI as part of the production pipeline for selected images and voice-over/audio assets appearing in the game and some promotional materials. These assets are reviewed and refined by the development team before being published. The game does not use live-generated AI during gameplay.
THE GAME IS CONSTANTLY BEING REWORKED TO FURTHER MINIMISE THE USE OF AI-GENERATED IMAGES AND VOICES.
Generative AI was used to assist in the creation of certain pre-rendered store assets and promotional images for the Steam store page. No generative AI is used during gameplay, and the game does not rely on live AI-generated content.
Contains some optional AI generated voice samples, using Canva, strictly in order to comply with United States Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA)
Some visual assets and artwork in this game were created with the assistance of generative AI tools and then curated, edited, and integrated by the developer.
All final content has been reviewed and adjusted to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with Steam guidelines.
This game uses pre-generated AI-assisted artwork for fictional wrestling logos and selected Steam store/marketing assets. These assets were created as fictional branding for the game and reviewed/edited by the developer before use.
The game does not use live generative AI during gameplay.
AI tools were used in a supporting role during the development of this game. Specifically, AI was used to assist with parts of the localization process, the creation of some UI concepts and UI elements, and coding support such as drafting and organizing code. All final review, editing, implementation, and quality control were performed by the developer.
Sector Scavengers was built almost 100% using AI agents and tools. Makko.ai created the game art, animations, and game code/logic, and the trailers were made with a combination of Grok and 11 Labs.
Building a game of this scale as a solo indie developer is a gigantic quest. To bring this vision to life, I utilized AI to help manage the immense development load.
I have used AI to help create placeholder assets as visual guides to get the final look and feel, some initial base assets that have since been modified to be game-ready, and, in some rare cases, game elements that did not require further polishing. I have worked hard to ensure the overall quality is as high as possible, given the limitations with funding, personnel and time.
What wasn't made with AI:
The core game design, idea and execution. Some of the game code, performance optimizations, final polishing, and most final assets. Additionally, some of the development tools, such as the terrain optimizer/generator, targeting, turret, and explosion systems, have been under development as personal hobby projects for nearly a decade. The game was completely visualized, balanced, play tested, and designed by people (the fun part).
What is heavily AI-generated:
Audio: The audio concepts and prompts were written by me, generated using AI algorithms, and then manually polished where needed. Real human work was required to orchestrate, mix, time, and fit these audio clips seamlessly into the game.
Some textures: In a few rare cases, a generated texture was used "as-is" and did not require any additional post-processing or optimization of any kind (excluding cropping or some basic photoshopping).
Some visual assets such as fictional product packaging, posters, decorative graphics, icons and marketing materials were created with the help of generative AI and then reviewed/edited before being included in the game.
The promotional video visuals, character portrait concepts, and trailer voiceovers for this game were assisted by generative AI tools (such as Midjourney and ElevenLabs). All AI-generated assets have been strictly curated, manually edited, and composited by the developer to ensure they match the game's creative vision.
AI-powered image generation tools were used to create the game's visual elements, including character and environment images. AI tools were also used to support translations into multiple languages.
Some of the promotional and storefront images were created with AI tools and then refined by hand. All of the in-game assets were designed by a 3D artist.
Some visual assets, including text, promotional artwork and capsule images, were generated using AI tools and then reviewed and edited by the developer.
Some in-game audio content, such as radio dialogue and in-game radio music may be generated using artificial intelligence tools. These elements are used to enhance immersion and provide dynamic environmental storytelling.
All gameplay systems, mechanics, and core content are designed and implemented by the developer.
This game uses pre-generated AI-assisted images only in the opening video.
The AI-assisted content is limited to pre-rendered video material included in the game build. It is not used in the store page trailer, screenshots, Steam community assets, or other marketing materials.
The game does not use live generative AI. No AI content is generated during gameplay, and players cannot enter prompts or otherwise cause new AI-generated content to be created.
All AI-assisted images used in the opening video have been reviewed and edited by the developer to ensure they are appropriate for the game, consistent with the game's content disclosures, and do not intentionally include illegal or infringing content.
Pre-rendered AI tools were used to generate the base artwork for the Steam store page capsule images and marketing materials. All generated assets were manually edited and combined in image editing software.
