Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some pre-created content in SPELLSTEEL was developed with the assistance of generative AI as part of a human-directed creative process. SPELLSTEEL does not use generative AI to generate gameplay content or player-facing content in real time.
FIRST LINE was designed and directed by its human developer: the gameplay systems, the mechanics, the narrative and every creative decision. The game's code — including the systems that render all visuals and synthesize all audio at runtime — was written with an AI coding assistant (Claude Code) under that direction. The English localization was also produced with AI assistance. No pre-generated AI images, audio, or video assets are included in the game. Parts of the store page text were also written with AI assistance.
Store artwork (capsules and icons) is likewise rendered by AI-written code under human direction.
Ice Coast Revival is built by a small team working with AI tools. Some pre-made content that ships with the game, including in-game text and some audio, was created with generative AI and then human-reviewed. All of it is fixed at build time: the game does not generate content live with AI while you play.
The Tally was made by a solo developer working closely with an AI assistant. The game's code and written content were created with the help of AI under the developer's direction and review. All 3D models and music are the work of human artists, credited in-game. Textures are produced by procedural scripts, not image-generation models. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Portions of this game's code, artwork, music arrangement, and text were created with the assistance of generative AI tools (Anthropic Claude). All AI-assisted content was reviewed, tested, and curated by the developer. The game does not generate any content using AI at runtime.
During development we used generative AI in a few places. A large language model helped write some of the game's text (in-game descriptions, events, and store copy). The music and many of the sound effects were created with Adobe Firefly, while some other sounds are generated in real time by the game's own code. The app icon was also created with Adobe Firefly. The in-game graphics are drawn procedurally by the game's code and are not AI-generated. Nothing is generated by AI while you play: every AI-assisted asset is created during development and shipped as a fixed file. The generative AI tools used (Adobe Firefly) grant commercial usage rights.
Lo-Fi with Ruka includes optional live generative AI features. Players may provide their own DeepSeek and StepFun API keys to generate short companion chat replies, personalized study-story chapters, and synthesized voice. These features are disabled without player-provided keys. Prompts, the current focus goal or status, and limited recent non-sensitive study context are sent only to the selected providers. API keys and generated content remain local and are not uploaded to Steam Cloud.
We used generative AI to assist with drafting in-game text and localization into supported languages.and no content is generated by AI during gameplay.
This game uses content created or assisted by generative AI. Generative AI was used to help create and edit some visual assets, music/sound materials, and scripts. All final content was reviewed, selected, and adjusted by the developer before being included in the game.

Loot Survivors is made by one person.
I use generative AI as a production tool so that a solo developer can deliver the quality and the update pace players expect. It helps me with things like concept art and texture work, UI icons, and item and flavor text.
Every generated asset is reviewed, edited, and hand-integrated by me — AI output is a starting point, never a finished asset. The game's design, systems, balance, and code direction are my own work.
Nothing is generated while you play. All content ships inside the build.
During the development of this game, generative AI technologies were utilized as auxiliary tools to optimize production and enhance the overall quality of the final product. AI was used in the following areas:
Visual Art & Assets: Generative tools were used during the concept art stage to create baseline character portraits, user interface elements, and background images of government offices. All AI-generated assets underwent manual digital painting, color correction, and stylization to fit the game's distinct, gritty political noir atmosphere.
Text & Narrative Design: AI assistants were employed for copyediting, historical context verification, dialogue polishing, and structuring large volumes of text to ensure the narrative feels immersive, realistic, and deeply engaging.
Coding & Scripting: AI tools helped optimize Godot engine source code, identify bugs, and accelerate the technical implementation of dynamic UI systems.
Important Note: The game contains only pre-generated content. There is no live-generated AI content running during gameplay. The game experience is fully deterministic, stable, and hardcoded within the final build by the developer.
Some of the content in this game was created using generative AI tools - this includes converting to seamless textures, some visual elements, localization (interface translations), as well as some sound effects and music. All AI-generated materials have been reviewed, edited and adapted by the game's creators.
Quillzyra: Character Studio uses generative AI locally on the user's computer to create and interact with fictional characters. The application may generate character dialogue, personality text, memory summaries, character descriptions, and optional 2D character portraits based on user input.
The AI features are intended for fictional character creation, simulation, and conversation. The application does not rely on an external AI service during gameplay.
AI was employed strictly for technical assistance (code debugging, music scripting, and refining translations). All AI-assisted content was manually reviewed.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create visual assets and assist with game localization. All AI-generated or AI-assisted content was created before release. The game does not generate any content in real time during gameplay.
The only AI assistance we used was for brainstorming and polishing the wording of the Steam store page description/marketing copy. AI was not used to generate visual assets or in-game content
AI tools were used during development for the following assets:
Steam Store capsule images and marketing art
Game localization and text translations
Select 2D visual assets and graphics in the game
This game uses AI-assisted translation for the Steam store page and some in-game UI text. As a solo indie developer with limited resources, AI translation helps make the game accessible to more players and support a wider range of languages.
Man Vs Gary was made by one person. The story and all of its dialogue are my own, written by me. But without a studio's budget to commission artists, composers, and voice actors, I used generative AI tools to help create much of what you see and hear, the illustrated artwork, the music, the sound effects. Nothing ships as a raw, untouched generation: every asset was hand-directed, chosen, refined, and assembled to fit a single cohesive, hand-crafted style and world, and reviewed by me to make sure it belonged. In the end, what matters is whether the game is enjoyable and worth your time, not which tools helped build it.
Some pre-generated visual and narrative elements included in Ashfire Keep were created or assisted using generative AI tools under the developer's creative direction. This includes the Ashfire Keep logo, selected HUD mockups and edited derivatives used in the final interface, and narrative text that was reviewed, corrected, and approved by the developer. The game does not generate AI content at runtime, does not connect to generative AI services during gameplay, and does not send player data to AI services. All other visual and audio assets are commercially licensed third-party assets.
All visual assets and store page copy that ship with the product were created using generative AI tools during development, then reviewed and edited by the developer. This includes: card illustrations, creature and hazard art, UI iconography, and backgrounds within the game; the Steam capsule and header images; and the written store page description. Store page screenshots are unaltered captures of the running game. No content is generated at runtime; all assets are static and baked into the build. Procedural systems in the game (seeded board layout, salvage rolls) are deterministic algorithms, not generative AI.
We use AI as a creative assistant to refine our English descriptions and ensure they are easy to read and engaging (since we are not native speakers). In addition, some of the game’s illustrations were created with the help of generative AI tools and later refined by human artists.
Some questions and answers in our quiz game are generated using AI. Additionally, we utilized pre-generated AI images included in the capsules and for in-game assets.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with some visual assets, text and localization, and code. All AI-assisted content included in the game and its marketing materials was reviewed and edited by the developer. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
Generative AI was not used to create any in-game content resources. AI was utilized solely for the translation of certain in-game dialogue and external content, such as our Steam page and community posts.
Pre-generated content. Character portraits, spell and keyword icons, and store artwork were produced using AI image generation tools, then selected, edited and assembled by the developer. Some in-game text was drafted with AI assistance and edited by the developer. Music and sound effects are licensed from human creators. No content is generated live while the game is running.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with the creation of certain visual assets, 3D assets, textures, localization text, and other pre-generated content included with the product. All such content has been manually reviewed, selected, and edited by the developer to ensure quality and to avoid illegal, infringing, or impersonating content.
StorySmith uses generative AI to write its stories live as you and your Twitch chat make choices. The AI model runs locally on your machine by default, with an optional bring-your-own-key cloud option — so your playthroughs stay private and no two are ever the same.
Generative AI was used during development as a supporting tool to create secondary assets and assist with text revision. All AI-generated content was manually reviewed, edited, and integrated into the game engine to ensure the project's visual and gameplay consistency.
Some of the art assets in Battle of Plans were produced with AI-assisted
tools. Specifically, a number of 3D props (weapon models) were created using
AI-assisted 3D generation and then manually retopologized, re-textured and
integrated by our team, and some promotional/store images were created with
AI image tools. Every AI-assisted asset was reviewed by a human before it
shipped.
Localization into languages other than Turkish and English was produced with
machine translation.
The game does not generate any content while you play: there is no AI chat,
no AI-generated dialogue, and no runtime asset generation. Player chat is
written by players and filtered server-side.
Pre-generated generative AI tools were used during development to assist in creating and editing some 2D visual assets, including backgrounds, character images, scene variations, and promotional artwork. AI tools were also used to assist with drafting, editing, and localization of some text. All final content was selected, reviewed, and edited by the developer before inclusion. No generative AI is used during gameplay, and players cannot generate content in the game.
Nothing in GREATER FOOL is generated while you play. Every run is
deterministic code with seeded randomness, all music and sound is
synthesized live by the game itself, and no art comes from an image
generator: the pixel art, the icons, and the store images are drawn
in code, shape by shape.
AI assistance was used while drafting some of the game's written text,
which I edited and rewrote to fit the voice of the game.
AI tools were used to assist with writing and localizing store page text and some in-game text, and as a coding assistant during development. Store page marketing assets, images and the background music in the trailer were generated with AI tools and then reviewed and edited by the developer. All game design, mechanics and balance are human-made; all in-game visual art is hand-authored procedural drawing, and the game itself contains no AI-generated audio, music or voice. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and edited by the developer.
Generative AI tools assisted with portions of development, including some player-facing UI, tutorial and campaign text, and implementation code.
All output was reviewed and edited by the developer. The game does not generate AI content while running.
Maps and terrain are generated using deterministic procedural algorithms and public-domain geographic data. Audio uses licensed recordings and conventional synthesis/editing, not generative AI.
Ai was used to develop the code, artwork, various events, and dialogue in the game. Most player-facing text was reviewed by humans and many of the events and conversations were approved, improved, or rewritten by humans. There is no run-time AI usage, everything was created before the game runs, only standard computer actions are done at runtime. ex. selections and randomization of existing content.
Code: I'm a solo developer and I use AI coding agents. The architecture, game design, systems, and direction are mine; the agents write code to my spec, under my review. That includes the UI, which agents build from my own designs and styles.
3D art: Made by a professional artist. No AI.
Music and SFX: Currently placeholders, licensed from Ocular Sounds, who state their sounds are crafted from original source recordings by their in-house sound design team. To be replaced with commissioned work.
Writing: Written by me. AI agents help me edit and apply corrections; I approve every word that ships. A professional writer will be brought on as development continues.
Illustrations: Not in the game yet. They will be commissioned from professional artists.
