Public Steam disclosure research 25,706 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
The game's logo and library assets were generated with the help of artificial intelligence.
This game uses generative AI only to create a player character’s 3D head. The AI uses a fixed set of pre-approved traits and does not allow text prompts, user uploads, copyrighted references, brands, or trademarked characters. All outputs are controlled and reviewed to ensure they follow Steam’s guidelines.
AI helped me create the game logo, steam store pictures and a tiny help with notes text
Generative AI is used only for creating store thumbnails and in-game translations.
AI has been used to fill in art, music and code due to lack of sufficient resources available. This is not satisfactory in the long run. The ambition is to eventually replace all AI content with proper man-made assets assuming the revenue increases. I apologize for the slop, but we will have to bear it for now.
We only used AI-generated content for Steam capsule images.
Some visual assets, such as icons and UI borders, were created using generative AI tools.
Generative AI is used to generate texture of certain models

This game used generative AI in a limited capacity during development to assist with Blueprint/code writing and debugging. It does not include any features that generate content or code in real time during gameplay, and no art, textures, sounds, story elements, marketing images were created using generative AI.
I use it to review my code for efficiency and to spark inspiration for some art. It also helps with generating secondary or background art elements, but the core creative work and vision are all mine!
This game is an experimental pilot project commissioned by World Labs, the creators of Marble AI technology. I used their AI as a tool for producing scenes and landscapes. The creative process always began with my spatial planning and, in many cases, my own hand-drawn sketches. These were translated into a realistic image style using generative AI and ultimately used by Marble AI to create the final scenes under my strict artistic direction.
About the Use of AI During the early stages of development, Project Substrata utilized generative AI tools (such as image generation) for concept art and idea exploration only. All in-game assets, textures, audio, story elements, and code are manually created and refined by the development team. Within the game world, autonomous drones and facility AIs operate as part of the gameplay and narrative systems, not as real AI services. The game runs entirely offline, with no external data transmission or use of online AI APIs.
As a solo developer, I've used AI to generate a number of 3d models, textures, and images. Most have been modified after their generation to some extent.
AI Has been used to assist in game development, as well as designing some of the character and enemy voxel models. It has also been used to enhance clips or screenshots from the game to use for the store page items. For example the VD Logo is polished from the in game main menu screen, and then used AI to fit together and clean it up.
The images on the Steam store page use artificial intelligence.
AI-assisted tools were used during development for prototyping and reference purposes, including code, visuals, and audio. All such materials were manually reviewed and approved by the development team. The final game does not rely on AI-generated content during gameplay.
AI tools were used during development to assist with game code and visual design. As a small Indie studio, we can't afford a composer and voice actors, so for the moment we decided to use AI. Ideally, for the release, we will be using real voices actors and music composed by a real composer.
