Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some of game's sound effects, music and textures are AI-generated
There is one Image on the Top that is Partially AI generated, and there are 2 songs in the game that are AI... but nothing else.
Our Policy for AI Use Even if, and disclose from time to time that, we use AI in some of our products, it never means that our product consists of AI-generated content, which is simply impossible but may be presumed by some people. We continue our due diligence and necessary efforts to come up with the best content. AI is a field that we keep track of and welcome curiously and excitedly. It is something not the world gives us but what we get from the world according to our requirements. However, We always consider the rights of commercial and ethical use of AI. Therefore, we subscribe to their content, pay their respective fee, and keep their receipts/licenses. How may we use AI? We may use outsourced AI in a number of different ways in addition to our own in-game AI mechanics, as it gives us uniqueness and originality as we like, and as long as its content is compliant with our above policy: Sound files: We have a large collection of audio clips we have purchased and keep purchasing. We also have the means to make our own sound files. Sometimes we may also use AI-made sounds to make audio clips as well if we fail to find what we are looking for in our archive. Graphics: We may use AI for some of our graphical assets. We have various means like software with which we can create characters, particularly our animated characters in the trailers and cutscenes, which are our own unique designs. We may use AI in this particular game in relation to the environment and some of the ancillary icons, finishings, and corrections. Ideas: We may chat with AI about whether an idea is suitable for the current genre we are working on. However, we plan to discontinue this use of AI as it lacks originality. For example, when we asked for the names of two female characters for a fantasy game, AI suggested “Anya and Ayleen.” They are obviously names used before and we needed to change the names of our two characters. The above use of our AI may naturally appear on our store page as we include fragments from our game to introduce and promote it. This policy may be subject to change depending on the developments, ethical considerations, and circumstances regarding the use of AI in the future.
AI-generated and modified imagery for backgrounds and gameplay elements
Planet surface images and some other 2D assets are AI-generated
AI generated character-art using Midjourney license used during the story segments. Some gameplay scripts were coded using ChatGPT for assistance.
The game is developed solo, and during Early Access I’ve occasionally used AI-generated placeholders — some of which I actually quite like. These are temporary and will likely be replaced over time.
The developer is a skilled artist who has created all of the art, except for some music and sound effects that were partially generated by different AI software to ease the cost and workload of solo development.
For recipe art only: Our artist used an AI assistant. We made a hand-painted recipe base. Then we used AI to add a detail layer. Then we hand-painted all final details.
We utilized AI tools to generate internal references for composition and framing. These outputs were then used as a base to manually create handcrafted pixel art assets, ensuring all final in-game visuals follow our custom palettes and artistic standards.
The images of the story trailer and a few shop icons were generated with the help of AI.
This game use generative artificial intelligence to pre-rendered art for the game, This includes the game itself, the storepage, and any Steam community assets or marketing materials.
In the game's background drawings, outputs of drawing samples from the Midjourney artificial intelligence were taken, and background drawings were produced by making corrections on those samples.
There is no AI generated content in this game. All artwork and scenes were made by me or asset creators on the marketplace without the use of AI generated content.
South Scrimshaw Part One uses voiced narration synthesized from public domain recordings.
Collapsed State is a project created by the RevoltGPT to showcase the power of our proprietary game development platform! This project was created almost entirely using our proprietary AI game engine editor, which you can use yourself at https://revoltgpt.dev! Thank you so much to our community for coming together to turn this project into a reality, we truly appreciate each and every one of you!
Dialogue voices were generated using the DeepVoice AI tool available in the Unity store.
Generative AI was used to generate a total of 3 silly meme songs/sounds in the game, the most prominent being the title screen music. All other level soundtracks/sfx were otherwise created by a human (shoutout to my lifelong DJ TheMedisin). Generative AI was used to create part of our steam page logos.
The graphical elements for the store and the elements for the library in the Steam store were generated by AI.
I used it to help with images in the game. No code was used or music creation. All code and concepts of the art direction was by me.
The game includes some temporary AI-generated content (such as images, sounds, or graphical elements) used solely to speed up the development process. All of these assets are provisional and will be progressively replaced with original materials as the project advances.
DarkSwarm is built by hand, by talented individuals — but we may have used generative AI, among other tools, to visualize ideas during the concept phase, helping us deliver the best possible game experience. In that sense, it has supported the creation of certain environmental assets, images, and props. It's one of many tools in our creative toolbox and is always used alongside handcrafted work.
Most art in the game is AI generated then edited.

AI is used to assist the creation of some content in game. Icon art, 2d art, voice lines and music.
The background music (BGM) of our game uses assets from Soundraw, a music production site that uses AI.
- AI voice changer applied to some voice acting. - Some in game posters.
AI-generated art objects
Used for Early Access placeholders, and is intended to be replaced with more development time. AI generation was used for some voices and some 2D images within the game. These assets are intended to be replaced with ones created by human artists.
AI was used to generate art for illustrating ingame events, encyclopedia pages, difficulty selection windows, host improvement illustrations and main menu backgrounds.
I have troubles writing long descriptions so I used ChatGPT to help me write some of the descriptions and lore in the game. It was used as a reference, nothing more. I have used ONLY my own content and ONLY my own algorithm models to generate content from. I wrote my own to be able to use it for this purpose only. I do NOT infringe on ANY creative rights in doing so.
In the interest of transparency, illustrations were created with the help of AI-assisted tools, used as creative support within a human-led artistic process.
We confirm that AI-assisted tools were used in the development of our game. The specific scope and manner of use are as follows: 1. Type of AI-Generated Content: * Text Content: We used AI text-generation tools to assist in creating initial drafts for some of the in-game copy during the early conceptual stages of development. * This includes content for: * Background stories and design documents for boss characters, frigates, and other units. * Descriptive text for player skills. * Preliminary outlines and descriptions for the game's overall story background. * In-game text such as enemy names and skill descriptions. 2. Our Workflow and Human Oversight (The Key Part): * AI's role was that of an "Assistant Tool": The AI was used solely to generate preliminary, unpolished text drafts and inspiration based on core ideas and directions provided by our producers. * Deep Human Optimization and Review: All AI-generated text underwent strict review, selection, rewriting, and optimization by our producers and development team. We ensured: * Creative Direction: The final design direction and core ideas were entirely determined by the human team. * Content Ownership: We hold full and legal rights to all final content included in the game. The content, after profound human modification and optimization, is no longer a purely AI-generated product but the intellectual property of our team. * Quality and Compliance Control: We ensured all textual content met our quality standards and Steam's distribution rules, containing no infringing, offensive, or inappropriate material. 3. Commitment and Assurance: * We guarantee that the final version of the game does not directly include any unmodified AI-generated output. * We take full responsibility for all content in our game. In Summary: AI was used as a tool for assistance and inspiration during the design phase, but the final generation, approval, and copyright of all game content are the sole responsibility of our human development team.
1. We used ChatGPT-4 to make some custom javascript plugins. 2. Used ChatGPT-4/DALL-E3 to generate some of the faces of NPC's, also some icons for the system menu.
AI was used only to help generate some of the props for the game's cover, as well as to create text-to-voice lines for a couple of the robotic characters in the game.
AI was used to generate voiceover.
We use prerendered AI generated voices for in-game voice overs for dialogue. It is a paid asset on the Unity Asset Store: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/generative-ai/deepvoice-ai-text-to-voice-251738
I used Midjourney to stylize an ingame screenshot to create capsule art. AI helped me contextually translate my game into other languages.

Voice Acting (But this is just a template that we will later replace with real voice actors.)
Includes spoof movie posters (artwork) and enhanced OST based on original compositions (music).
Used AI powered video editing tool to animate the static images of our Rico Character and Sky Marshal. We used all our fully contracted and paid for existing content and images we had with these actors from our original recording sessions. No new AI content was generated.
Usage of AI-Generated and Assisted Illustrations in Shadow Empire Post-release Illustration Creation Process The developers use Midjourney and Nano Banana to generate high-resolution illustrations for new functionality added post-release, particularly for Vidcom and Stratagem artwork. These images are often post-processed by hand, as well as enhanced using tools like Magnific, Topaz Labs, or other upscaling and refinement software. AI in Post-release Portrait Art Portraits: A base image is generated using Midjourney with a generic prompt such as “portrait of young woman, military.” Smaller parts (eyes, nose, mouth, hair, etc.) are overlaid using DALL·E to create variations. Aging effects are achieved by rendering an older skin texture with partial transparency over the younger base face. The older the character, the more opaque the overlay becomes. (Note: Eyes and lips often retain a youthful appearance.) This effect is gradually applied using a limited number of sprite layers, allowing nuanced visual transitions. AI-Generated Art in Post-release Game Content The game includes AI-generated and AI-assisted illustrations for Vidcoms and Stratagems. All such AI-generated art is pre-generated — no generative AI tools are called or used in real-time by the game itself. The intention is to provide players with an option to toggle between the original and updated AI-enhanced graphics via preferences. (Note: This is an aim and may not yet apply to all content.)
The game uses AI-generated illustrations and character voices. The promotional images for the game were generated by ChatGPT.
Generative AI (DALL·E 3) was used in Steam community resources. Specifically in trading cards and emoticon art.

Post-release Illustration Creation Process
The developers use Midjourney and Nano Banana to generate high-resolution illustrations for new functionality added post-release, particularly for Vidcom and Stratagem artwork.
These images are often post-processed by hand, as well as enhanced using tools like Magnific, Topaz Labs, or other upscaling and refinement software.
