Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
This game uses generated AI for the following purposes
- To generate some of the game's program code
- To format text in the store to make it easier to read
- To translate text into languages other than Japanese
- However, the text rarely appears in the game
- No content or code is generated live during gameplay
Statement on the Use of AI in the Game’s Visual Assets
For the creation of the visual assets in The Hyperrealist Rock in a Surreal World, we have used artificial intelligence tools. All images have been manually reviewed and edited to ensure their artistic consistency, originality, and compliance with the quality standards required for publication.
We want to make it clear that none of the images infringe on third-party copyrights and that all content has been created exclusively for this project. We are committed to transparency and fully comply with Steam's policies regarding the use of AI in game development.
Our game does not use AI to influence gameplay, player behavior, difficulty, or decision-making.
The only temporary use of AI in the project is for generating placeholder narrator voice-over lines during development. All narration content is written by our team, and the AI is used solely as a text-to-speech tool for prototyping and demo purposes. These AI-generated voice-overs are planned to be fully replaced with recorded performances by a human voice actor before release.
No other AI systems are used in the project.
The game logo was generated with AI and then I modified it with a graphics editor to fit the game. There is no AI used in the game environment itself. The whole AI thing only concerns the game logo.
Our small indie team has responsibly used generative AI tools to accelerate our development while maintaining full creative control.
We used MidJourney to generate base visual assets, which were then carefully edited, customized, and rendered by our artists to match the game’s artistic direction. These AI-generated elements are part of the final visual content, but were not used “as-is” and underwent human refinement.
For localization, we used AI-based tools to assist with proofreading and translation consistency, ensuring clearer communication across languages.
No AI systems are used during gameplay or in real-time content generation. All interactive and gameplay logic was developed by our team.
We fully comply with Steam’s policies regarding AI use, and all assets were created and integrated within the scope of ethical and legal use.
Transparency and player trust are at the heart of our approach.
In this game, we used a generative AI tool (ChatGPT) to design some of the custom shaders. The shaders used were tweaked by the developers and finally implemented for the built-in render pipeline. No generative AI was used for the in-game art, story, voice, etc.
BEFORE PATCH 1.2.0 : The capsule art was partially created using generative AI tools and then edited and refined manually. The logo was not generated by AI. No in-game content was created using AI.
SINCE PATCH 1.2.0 : The game is 100% hand made : The new HAND-DRAWN key art is there, as requested by some players. I didn't think it would be such a big deal for some people at first. The old cover was ok but not great indeed. Now I realise it was a mistake, and it was my bad. From now on I'll either draw them myself to the best of my abilities, or hire a pro if I can afford it.
In the game, the background image of the main interface and the static materials included in the plot animations are presented in a form that combines the original AI - generated images with subsequent modifications.
"This game uses AI-generated assets, such as images, that were pre-generated before development. The game does not feature live AI content generation."
Some of the game’s art assets (such as backgrounds and item icons) are initially generated with AI, followed by post-processing and refinement to ensure stylistic consistency and quality.
Some marketing artwork for this game was produced in part through the use of AI.
The game itself is NOT AI-generated. In-game content and assets, including its graphics, music, story and dialogue, are human-generated.
This game use pre-rendered generative artificial intelligence:
- storepage: trailer music, enso art, main picture enhanced screenshot
- main character textures: hair, shorts
Some cutscenes in the game were generated using AI to enhance the visual storytelling and atmosphere. These videos create a unique atmosphere and are not part of the main gameplay.
Some elements of the game were created with the help of AI-assisted tools and were then further developed through manual work — modified, improved, and integrated to align with the game’s overall style and vision.
