Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some graphic content on the store page was generated with Artificial Intelligence. In the game, some graphic images, the paintings hanging around the house, and the voice acting are created with Artificial Intelligence.
This game use pre-rendered generative artificial intelligence:
- storepage: trailer music, enso art, main picture enhanced screenshot
- main character textures: hair, shorts
We use Eleven Labs for in-game voices, and we also generate sound effects too. Due to our tight budget, we cannot hire voice actors and professional sound designers.
The game contains images that were generated by the AI during the development process.
The developer designed a specific prompt for each image that was requested from the AI and the generated images were stored in the game. No AI is used during the game and no internet connection is used.
In this project, some character avatar images and UI elements were created using generative artificial intelligence. These images have been processed and adapted for use in the game.
This game is mainly based on several aspects that were developed using modern artificial intelligence, such as some graphics, backgrounds, and music to create a modern and deep style for the game, while merging it with the content drawn with a human character from the development team and the context.
We used AI to translate the game into different languages. We don't have the funds for localization yet, thank you for your patience. If you have any comments on the translation, please let us know!
In "Stay Alive My Son," artificial intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role at two distinct points in the game to enhance player immersion and emotional engagement. Specifically, AI is employed during an interaction with Yathay Pin's digital replica in Level 01 and once again in Level 06. This is programmed directly using existing Unreal Engine Blueprints nodes.
The AI integration is meticulously designed to enable Yathay's digital eyes to follow the player's movements continuously. This technology ensures that Yathay appears to be directly engaging with the player, fostering a deeper emotional connection. The purpose behind this AI application is to intensify the sense of direct communication and interaction with Yathay, thereby amplifying the player's emotional investment and empathy towards his journey and experiences.
The game uses Artificial Intelligence to only generate the main image of the game, that is the logo image, that is shown in the cover of the game, the store pages, and the launch icon.
As a Solo Developer, AI was used mostly for things that would otherwise take too much time or finance, such as: Voice Lines, SFX, and custom Images.
AI type used: Voice Changers, Image Generators, and Audio Generators.
All faces that appear in the game were AI generated, except for the actors playing Jasper Holder, Adam Holder, Cheryl Holder, and Rory 'The Cleaner'. In addition, all voice performances in the game were modified with AI assistance to preserve the privacy of the original voice actors, except for the kitchen radio newsreader and all the live actors. Nothing else was created using AI.
Optional voiceovers, localization, and minor 2D elements.
Note:
All core creative content—story, game & level design, original music, sounds, vfx, and 3D assets—WAS MADE by PROFESSIONAL HUMAN ARTISTS, whose work remains ESSENTIAL and irreplaceable in bringing any video game to life. Also, professional ITALIAN dub added to the game!
Our Policy for AI Use
Even if, and disclose from time to time that, we use AI in some of our products, it never means that our product consists of AI-generated content, which is simply impossible but may be presumed by some people. We continue our due diligence and necessary efforts to come up with the best content.
AI is a field that we keep track of and welcome curiously and excitedly. It is something not the world gives us but what we get from the world according to our requirements.
However,
We always consider the rights of commercial and ethical use of AI. Therefore, we subscribe to their content, pay their respective fee, and keep their receipts/licenses.
How may we use AI?
We may use outsourced AI in a number of different ways in addition to our own in-game AI mechanics, as it gives us uniqueness and originality as we like, and as long as its content is compliant with our above policy:
Sound files: We have a large collection of audio clips we have purchased and keep purchasing. We also have the means to make our own sound files. Sometimes we may also use AI-made sounds to make audio clips as well if we fail to find what we are looking for in our archive.
Graphics: We may use AI for some of our graphical assets. We have various means like software with which we can create characters, particularly our animated characters in the trailers and cutscenes, which are our own unique designs.
Ideas: We may chat with AI about whether an idea is suitable for the current genre we are working on. However, we plan to discontinue this use of AI as it lacks originality. For example, when we asked for the names of two female characters for a fantasy game, AI suggested “Anya and Ayleen.” They are obviously names used before and we needed to change the names of our two characters.
The above use of our AI may naturally appear on our store page as we include fragments from our game to introduce and promote it.
This policy may be subject to change depending on the developments, ethical considerations, and circumstances regarding the use of AI in the future.
Except English, Translations to other Languages have been generated by Various LLMs. Greek and French have been checked by native speakers
A small amount of Sound Effects have been generated by AI.
Throughout the development of our game, we may leverage AI-based tools to assist our team in content creation. Please rest assured that what you see in the game reflects the creativity and hard work of our team. Examples may include pictures and/or posters used in some of our environments.
There are a handful of times we've used AI to create details in the background of some of our scenes, but this content is rare and often temporary. We also have an instance of AI generated music - we've got a silly ambient track that plays in the game's end-game-failure-state scene.
All of the images in this game are generated by neural networks trained on images (aka “AI generated”). If you choose to boycott all AI generated material, please do not buy this game. If you are uncomfortable with the thought but are interested in my game, please read on.
The aesthetic of this game had to come from the strange, uncanny look of AI. There is a heartlessness to the visuals that is intentional. I am not trying to copy the look of other artists. The only tool capable of producing the look I was going for was a malfunctioning AI. Ironically, I have had a number of people tell me that it looks much more realistic than standard AI. I am assuming this is because of how I tried to reproduce the look of old media.
All images, aside from the title screen, credits and some of the video shot on camcorder were generated by AI prompts. It took several days of exploring before I began generating images that fit the aesthetic I was looking for. I have heard AI described as a slot machine, and I think the metaphor is somewhat accurate. I think of this as similar to indeterminacy in music. Using random number generators can produce interesting outputs, but you need to refine and direct the system to do so.
I started my process in Midjourney. My ratio of usable images was around 100 to 1; for every 100 images I generated, I found one usable piece for the game. I created an automated process to transform these images to 16:9 widescreen in Photoshop Beta. Some of these images I touched up manually or regenerated sections of the image. There are some real images and hand painted imagery within the AI elements. Often, I would have to generate the sides of the image multiple times because photoshop didn’t generate what I needed.
To those concerned about not paying artists: I understand this, but I want to be clear that this was not created to replace the work of artists, any more than the synthesized scores to horror films were about replacing orchestras. These are tools that do different things. Rather than some sort of lazy shortcut, the use of AI imagery is essential to the aesthetic and narrative of the Path of Veins.
Many images that take place in game, representing towns and cities were created with the help of artificial intelligence. Generated pieces were not directly taken place in game but used advisory/recommendation manner (eg. to illustrate how a North West city looks in 1940s).
