Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Players are able to have free-form conversations with NPCs. We also use generative AI for item data, quest generation, NPC memory and decision-making, crafting recipes, in-game events, game logic, and more.
The following content is used in some parts of this game
・AI-generated images
・AI-generated illustrations with modifications
・Music including some AI-generated melodies
Carceri's story portrays a world made by programs, for programs. While ALL the writing, music, and 3D art in this game was created by a single human being, there is an Art Gallery in-game that contains 50 images, 17 of which have been generated by AI, (that are all clearly marked as such). These are fictionally portrayed as art works created by the characters (programs) of this world.
No names of modern, living artists were used to generate these images. The prompts were words such as: Hudson River school, old masters, Delacroix, robots, abstract geometry, landscape. From there, I photo-shopped all images so that none are 100% unaltered from the generation process.
Acknowledging generative imagery's existence is important to the world-building and meta-narrative of Carceri, so this was the fairest way I could think to include a small dose of these works, which are divisive by their very nature.
The draft of the logo was generated with Dall-E and then edited by me.
I also plan to use PixelLab to help generating some alternating tilesets and nyamon creatures and NPC; also surely edited by me to ensure consistency.
Alchemy of the Earth contains limited generative AI, for things like item icons, audio, and interface backgrounds. No generative AI was used in the creation of any 3D assets, music, writing, or environment/level design.
As a small, two-person startup studio, meeting the full graphical needs of our game is a challenge. To bring our cards to life, we use a combination of original artwork and AI-generated art, ensuring a balance between creativity and efficiency.
GenAI is used to create 2D character design concepts as reference images for 3D modeling.
It is also used for some UI icons, a limited number of 3D asset models, and translation of in-game character dialogue.
Some images use AI-generated pictures as a source of inspiration. Some highly abstract images was created by AI. And this sentence was translated by AI.
To create a unique art style, I employed various technical methods during development, including the use of AI-generated tools to assist in producing some of the materials.
These tools significantly streamlined my workflow as a solo developer, allowing me to focus more on core gameplay and detailed refinement. This approach ultimately delivers a richer and more immersive post-apocalyptic world for players. All content has been carefully curated, refined, and integrated to ensure it aligns with the game’s overall quality and artistic vision, while also complying with applicable copyright regulations.
