Public Steam disclosure research 25,380 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Used in code development, including visual animation code, and certain text content.
AI-assisted development tools were used during production to help write game code, in-game text, and the English localization. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and tested by the developer.
Some 2D artwork was created with the assistance of AI image-generation tools (the mascot character portrait, generated with Recraft and then hand-edited; it appears in-game and in store artwork). All gameplay, code, design, text and audio are made by hand. The game does not use live/runtime AI generation.
Generative AI was used to help translate the game's text and store page into other languages. It was not used to create any of the artwork, audio, or code in the game.
AI powers real-time dialogue and responses from fictional in-game characters, allowing them to react dynamically to player conversations and actions.
Generative AI tools were utilized to generate initial texture concepts. All final in-game assets were extensively modified, hand-edited, and integrated manually.
The facial graphics and backgrounds are illustrations created using a commercially available AI model, with some modifications and additions.
Generative AI was used to assist with drafting and editing portions of the Steam store page description and marketing copy. All AI-assisted text was reviewed, revised, and approved by the development team before publication. No AI-generated content is used during gameplay.
Generative AI was used during development to generate suspect mugshot photos, dossier case texts, and to assist with language localization. All generated assets are static and pre-packaged into the game.
The game uses ai-generated actor models and sounds.
Some of the art assets in the game were created using AI.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist in creating background concept art and store graphical promotional assets.
Generative AI tools were used to assist with the enhancement of certain promotional images, store page artwork, and place holder UI promotional content including lighting, color grading, atmospheric effects, and visual cleanup. The game's models, environments, gameplay systems, animations, and other in-game content are created by the developer. The game does not use live-generated AI during gameplay.

Generative AI tools were used to help create some of the game's assets (such as certain textures, icons, and 3D models), some store page text, and store page artwork (capsules and library art). All AI-assisted content was directed, curated, and edited by the developer. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
This game utilizes adaptive AI technology during gameplay to power the police interrogator's responses. Player input is evaluated live to generate dynamic, context-aware dialogue and push the interrogation forward.
Background Art — AI generation tools were used for some of the background images. Not all backgrounds were created with AI; hand-made backgrounds are also used. AI-assisted images were further processed to match the game's pixel art style. Music — The music in this game was created using AI generation tools.
Some in-game 2D assets (item and UI icons) and marketing materials (store capsule artwork and logo) were created with the help of generative AI image tools and then edited by hand. All code, level design, 3D assets and gameplay systems are authored by the developer. No content is generated by AI during gameplay.
Generative AI was used to create a small portion of the game’s artwork.
Some images and sound effects were created or assisted by generative AI and were reviewed, edited, and integrated into the game by the developer. No real-time generative AI is used during gameplay.
Parts of the artwork (customer portraits, studio backgrounds, skin imagery, some tattoo motifs), the background music, and some store page images were created with generative AI tools and then edited and integrated by the developer. Game design, mechanics and game logic are the developer's own work. No content is generated while the game is running.
Some of the art in this game was made with the help of generative AI. The voxel character portraits were generated from written prompts using an AI image generator, then cut out, colour-corrected, posed and animated by hand by the developer. The store page capsules and the achievement icons are composed from that same character art. Parts of the store page text, and the game's translations into its eight supported languages, were produced with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer. No generative AI runs while you play — nothing is generated in real time. The patrons' behaviour is ordinary game AI: hand-written rules and probability tables. The music and every sound effect are not AI-generated; they are synthesised procedurally.
This game uses generative AI as a production tool for certain visual art and music assets. All AI-assisted content has been reviewed and refined by the developer. No generative AI is used during gameplay. All puzzles, investigation mechanics, and gameplay systems are designed and implemented by the developer.
This game is made by a single dev, and sold for a fair price. In order to do that this dev needed the help of AI. So some pre-rendered assets in this game were created with the help of generative AI tools, always under my direction and with every asset reviewed by me the developer: certain illustrations, backdrops, and UI art; some music tracks and sound effects; and character voice lines generated via text-to-speech from scripts written by me the developer. The game design, the gameplay, physics, and large parts of the code are entirely human-made, and no AI content is generated at runtime.
AI tools are used to generate some of the game's content, which is then reviewed, edited and polished by the team.
Generative AI was used only to create selected pre-generated promotional artwork for the Steam store page and other marketing materials. All resulting images were manually reviewed, selected, and edited by the developer. The game does not use generative AI during gameplay and does not generate any live AI content.
This game was made by a two-person team specializing in storytelling. The entire narrative, all gameplay systems, UI, animations, core sound and game design were built entirely by our team. AI was used to generate some of audio and graphical assets due to the limited resources. Scenario was originally written in Ukrainian language, so translations might have minor mistakes. Thank you for your understanding.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with the creation of 2D concept art and background textures. The loading screen video is also made with generative AI. All final assets were manually edited and (if necessary) refined by the developer to match the game's art style. Voice lines for the characters were generated using AI voice tools based on licensed models. The scripts were entirely written by humans, and the generated audio was manually edited where necessary.
AI-generated art object
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with some pre-generated 2D artwork, text editing, localization, and development support. All AI-assisted content was manually reviewed, extensively revised, and finalized by our developers. AI was not involved in any core creative decisions.
Some in-game images were created with limited assistance from AI tools, then refined, adjusted, and completed by human artists.
The use of AI in the game is temporary: logo, cover art, icons, music... Everything is being developed with professionals without the use of AI.
All 2D artwork (hwatu card illustrations, character portraits, backgrounds) and music tracks were created using generative AI tools, then curated, edited, and assembled by the developer. All AI content is pre-rendered during development — nothing is generated live at runtime. Localization was machine-assisted and human-reviewed. Store page assets were produced the same way.
Some visual assets in the game (character portraits, photographs and website imagery) were created with the assistance of AI image generation tools, then curated and edited by the developer. Portions of the game's code were written with AI coding assistance. All narrative, game design, voice acting and story content were created by humans. The game does not generate any content at runtime using AI.

All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and approved by the developer. The game does NOT use AI at runtime: all content is pre-rendered.
Thug Arena was made with the use of AI and LLMs to generate many of the graphical assets. The game was made by two brothers in our spare time, and none of us are artists or can afford to pay artists for this game. We have used AI creatively to get to a style we liked for the game including most but not all assets, such as trees, buildings, pedestrians and weapons.
The game uses some icons and visuals that were previously created with artificial intelligence (some in-game visuals and capsule image, etc...)
Parts of this game's artwork and audio were created with the help of generative AI tools and then selected, edited and assembled by hand. This covers the comic panels, the character portraits, the store and library artwork, and the music and sound effects. No content is generated while the game is running.
