Public Steam disclosure research 25,380 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Googunners uses upgrade card art that is generated by Midjourney, and then authored in post. Outiside of the updgrade cards art, everything else is human created.
The entire game is coded by hand without any AI. Midjourney is used for card art. The game is a solo side-project, and this was to one thing I could not do myself.
Some of the image assets in this game have been manually modified on an AI-generated basis, and some of the text has been adjusted with the assistance of AI.
Some visual assets used on the store page (such as promotional key art and background elements) were initially created with the assistance of generative AI tools and then manually refined and edited by our art team. No in-game content is generated using AI during gameplay. Some early drafts of marketing texts were generated using AI and later reviewed and edited by a human.
Some UI elements and logos were created using AI.
AI was used to create reference images. One scene features several AI-generated images. All other content was created manually.
Some in game textures are AI generated, and parts of the steam page images.
Some images and icons in the game were generated with AI and post-processed manually. In-game music and voice-overs are AI generated. More details on my use of AI in my devlog: https://lemuria.org/devlogs/ta-07/
Voices are generated using a text-to-speech model.
I’m a solo dev running a creative experiment: every texture, model, sound, music loop and even code started life in generative AI tools that I run locally, before the build ships. No marketplace packs, no outsourcing. Nothing is generated while you play and the game never sends data outside your PC. Crimson System is my proof-of-concept for how far one person (plus a few neural nets) can push a retro FPS.
Some 3D models and textures are generated by AI.
Some characters and other assets in the game were generated using AI. The game’s music was created with the assistance of AI tools.
AI was used to help concept idea, coding assistance and some images for marketing which will be replaced prior to release.
Breathtaking AI generated graphics
Sound, SFX, Images.
We have incorporated AI modeling and AI original UI design into our workflow.
Some visual, narrative, and conceptual elements in Protocol Aegirum were developed with the assistance of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, during the design and pre-production phases. All AI-generated content was curated, edited, and integrated by the development team to ensure originality, coherence, and quality.
This game uses AI-generated voiceovers for some characters.
Marketing materials
The game does not contain AI-generated content. AI-generated content is used just for Steam Images.
Placeholder images while looking for artist.
Some visual assets were created using AI tools under human supervision. No AI is used in the game itself.
We used AI-assisted tools during development to help generate portions of our game code, synthesize the voice of our virtual guide “MiM,” and create concept artwork and UI assets. No AI runs during gameplay—these technologies were purely production aids to streamline our workflow and enhance the game’s visuals and audio.
We utilize generative AI technologies in select aspects of our development process. This includes the creation of user portraits, promotional materials (such as images, videos, and written copy), in-game iconography, and certain text-based content. These AI-generated elements support and enhance our creative workflow, but they represent a small portion of the overall production effort, with the majority of work being crafted by our development team.
Since I am a solo dev, i used AI to save time and money on some minor things like sounds or icons, but also to give me different perspectives, solutions and helpful information.
In order to better showcase the future elements of the game, the "loading page" in the game is AI generated content.
This game features a background image generated with AI during development. The image is used consistently throughout the game, including in menus and gameplay scenes. No content is generated dynamically by AI during gameplay.
Used for image processing
Character and Icon
Some language translations in this game were generated using AI.
During loading screens, the game displays abstract, AI-generated artwork. These visuals are separate from the in-game graphics and are not meant to depict actual gameplay. Much like the stylized, cartoon-like imagery used in other games during loading sequences, their sole purpose is to add visual interest while the game loads. Additionally, the logo featured on the store page and the in-game menu was partially created with help of AI-generated design elements.
The developer describes how AI-generated content is used in the game as follows - Game Title Idea - Base of Main Character Design Concepts - Background Music (BGM) - Some Sound Effects (SFX)
During the development of this game, I used artificial intelligence tools for the following purposes: * Accelerating the coding process – AI-powered assistants supported programming, debugging, and code generation to help bring the game to life more efficiently. * Text translation and language checking – I used AI to translate written content into multiple languages and to assist with spelling and grammar correction. Please note that all content generated or modified with the help of AI was manually reviewed and edited to ensure quality and a consistent player experience.
This game features AI-generated voice performances and crafting item models created with the assistance of generative tools. Promotional artwork, including store page banners, was also generated using AI.
Most of the wall paintings and images are AI generated Some meshes are Ai generated like the Cash register, the pizza itself, the texts on the top of the customer like when they don't have the pizzas or they are saying something some of them are generated with AI
We used AI for quick prototyping and then to edit some of our images to meet the various image size requirements Steam requires.
Some sound FX, texture maps, and background characters were initially started with AI, but after that all assets were either reworked, or built entirely from scratch by a trained 3D Artist. The developer is a 3D Artist more than a programmer, and so AI was used for help when building the Blueprints in Unreal Engine.
Generative AI content was used in the following cases: - The main character of the game on the covers of the Steam page - Music in the game - Voice acting in the game - Images for splashes and backgrounds in the game
We used LLMs to help consolidate the rules engine code into one module for offline and online play. We also worked with Epidemic Sound, whose voice actors use AI to create voice content with their own voices.
All art in the game has been either wholly made by our artist, or modified from AI generated concepts.
Cartoon images of children in marketing materials
We use AI to create pre-generated content for the game, including game design concepts, scenarios, and progression systems, as well as for voiceovers in marketing materials and community assets. No AI is used for real-time content or code generation during gameplay.
The game's intro video contains 50% AI-generated drawings
game logo and menu icons made with ai software
Some of the illustrations were generated with the assistance of Ai image tools and were then manually edited for final use.
The station AI's voice is made by AI.
As this was a project for my course, and as we are an indie developer, generative AI was used to generate some assets.
Use of AI in coding, translations and planet texture generation.
Certain images and compositions were initially developed with AI assistance and subsequently redrawn by hand for use.
Some elements of the game, such as character portraits, were created with the help of AI and manually edited by a human. In the future, they may possibly be replaced.
