Public Steam disclosure research 25,394 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Using Generative AI for the logos, cover images and online content, the game itself has no AI used.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in the creation of some 2D visual assets and artwork (including character illustrations and background art). All generated assets have been reviewed and refined to fit the game's pixel art style and quality standards.
This game is made by a single dev, and sold for a fair price. In order to do that this dev needed the help of AI. So some pre-rendered assets in this game were created with the help of generative AI tools, always under my direction and with every asset reviewed by me the developer: certain illustrations, backdrops, and UI art; some music tracks and sound effects; and character voice lines generated via text-to-speech from scripts written by me the developer. The game design, the gameplay, physics, and large parts of the code are entirely human-made, and no AI content is generated at runtime.
Generative AI tools were used in the creation of some visual assets in the game. Some generated artwork was used directly after review, while other generated artwork was edited, modified, or used as a starting point for final assets.
Generative AI was used to help create certain visual assets and promotional materials. Originally hand-drawn building graphics were processed with AI tools to increase detail and were subsequently manually edited.
AI Generated Artwork & Localization
Some of the game's textures, models, and code were generated with the assistance of AI.
Various AI tools have been used to create this product and make it possible
Game logo and achievements logo were generated by AI
Some assets in Starfort, including selected voice lines, artwork, and marketing materials, were created with the help of generative AI tools during development. All such content was reviewed, edited, curated, and finalized by the developer and is pre-generated. Starfort does not generate content during gameplay or connect to external AI services.
Development of PUCKVPUCK was assisted by an AI coding assistant. It helped write and review the game's code — including the sound effects, which are synthesised mathematically in code rather than recorded or sampled — and it drafted text for this store page. No AI image, audio or video generation models were used: the visuals are drawn procedurally by hand-written code, every screenshot and trailer clip is real captured gameplay, and all music was written and performed by the developers. Nothing is generated live while you play.
Some of this store page's assets were drafted with AI assistance for speed and only as placeholders. All in-game content, models, animations, shaders, effects, and every system you play is hand built, licensed, or generated by procedural code written for this game; no AI image, voice, or video generation is used in SINISTERVEIN itself.
Some of the background music and SFX were generated using generative AI (pre-rendered).
Ricochet Witch includes content created with the assistance of generative AI tools. Every AI-assisted element was directed, selected and edited by the developer, and all of it was reviewed before release. - 2D artwork (title illustration, game logo, clear end card, scoreboard background, and the application icon, which is a crop of the title illustration): generated with Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT, then selected and edited by the developer. - Achievement icons: base images generated with OpenAI ChatGPT; the grayscale (locked) versions were made by the developer in Photoshop. - The player character 3D model: generated with Meshy AI, then adjusted and integrated into the game by the developer. - English localization text: translated with the assistance of a generative AI tool (Anthropic Claude), then reviewed and adjusted by the developer. - Store page description text (Simplified Chinese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, German and Spanish): translated with the assistance of generative AI tools (OpenAI ChatGPT and Anthropic Claude), then reviewed and adjusted by the developer. - Store page images: these use the AI-assisted artwork described above. No content is generated by AI while the game is running.
The visual assets in Grim Looters — character, monster, item and card artwork, plus the store and marketing images — were created with the assistance of generative AI image tools and then curated, edited, and assembled by the developer. Some background music was AI-assisted. All AI-generated content is reviewed by the developer to ensure it is appropriate and cleared for use. No AI content is generated live during gameplay.
Some Steam store and library presentation artwork was created with assistance from generative AI tools, then selected and edited by the developer. Localization was completed conventionally, with AI used to assist in verification and quality checks.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with selected pre-generated marketing and Steam store artwork, concept and reference images, product packaging artwork and textures, and localization. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited and curated by the developer before being included. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.
AI was used to generate some temporary artwork for the store page and in-game placeholder character sprites, as well as to assist with translation during localization. Temporary AI-generated assets will be replaced with final artwork during development. All content is reviewed by the development team.
Some environmental/background music in this game was created or assisted using Suno AI, then selected and edited to fit the game’s atmosphere.
Ash Run '84 is a human-designed game built with the assistance of AI tools in specific areas of development. *Gameplay, mechanics, game design, level design, balance, pixel art units, buildings, tiles, UI, and production direction were created by our two-person development team.* AI Created: - Commander portraits are currently AI-assisted placeholder artwork. We plan to replace them with original human-created artwork as development continues. - Music is currently AI-generated for this release. If the game receives sufficient support, we intend to commission an original soundtrack composed by a human musician. - Programming was developed by our team with AI-assisted coding tools used to accelerate implementation, debugging, testing, and iteration. All code was reviewed, integrated, and directed by the developers.
Avatars have been made with the help of the AI tool but we going to replace it on real art before release.
Some images in the current version were created with the assistance of generative AI. These assets are planned to be replaced with original artwork during development.
The game uses various AI models for: - voice-over - images - the intro/video

Some artwork (ship, station and environment sprites, icons) and sound effects were created using generative AI tools during development, then curated and hand-edited by the developer. All AI-generated content was reviewed before inclusion.
AI tools were used to create some of the game's artwork, UI elements, backgrounds, music and sound effects. Visual effects generally combine or modify multiple generated assets, while sound effects are edited and layered from multiple generated sounds. Some generated artwork, including backgrounds and UI elements, is used largely as originally created. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Generative AI tools were used as part of the development workflow for selected visual and audio asset refinement and production. All final content is reviewed and edited by the developer. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
Some artwork featured in MISFORTUNATE was created with the assistance of generative AI tools.
All music is human-made. AI was used for art, sound effects, and programming.
Swarmvore was built by a solo developer using generative AI tools for the game's code, art, and text. Every piece of content went through many rounds of prompting, testing, and refining, and every creative decision, from mechanics to tone to visual style, was made by the developer.
This work incorporates the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the following areas: Parts of the artwork, parts of the sound, and localization.
I'm not a professional game developer or artist. Making my own game had been a dream for years, but I never knew how to turn that dream into reality. Generative AI became the tool that finally made it possible. With its help, I created many of the game's visual and audio assets, including item, UI, skill, and module icons, character portraits, ships, space stations, backgrounds, the game icon, the Steam store artwork, and some of the sound effects. It also assisted me with programming. But Star Corsairs is not a game that AI simply generated. Every asset was reviewed, rejected, refined, or replaced until it matched the vision I had in mind. Every gameplay system was designed, tested, and reworked repeatedly until it felt right. The economy, ship balance, pirate AI, combat, and progression were all shaped through countless hours of playtesting and manual iteration. The story, world, and all of the writing were created by me. Without generative AI, this game would probably never have existed. But without the countless creative decisions, revisions, and work behind every part of it, Star Corsairs wouldn't exist either.
Generative AI was used exclusively as a programming assistant during development to help write and optimize the game's code. All creative elements, including the story, game design, and artwork, were entirely crafted by human hand.
Music composed in Udio studio
Generative AI tools were used to create some background assets used within the actual game client. All game assets created this way were pre-generated and fixed by the developer.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with portions of the game's pre-generated 2D artwork, marketing artwork, localization drafts, and development code. All player-facing AI-assisted content was generated before release, selected, reviewed, edited where needed, tested, and integrated by the developer. The game does not generate or modify content with AI during gameplay and does not send player input to an external AI service.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with programming and localization. All AI-assisted code and text were reviewed, edited, tested, and integrated by the developer. No generative AI is used while the game is running.
As a solo project, Vibin & Survivin leverages AI assistance for asset design, audio generation, and coding support. This allowed me to punch above my weight class as a single developer and focus on crafting tight, responsive action-roguelike gameplay!
The 2D background images in the main menu and the promotional (capsule) designs used on the Steam store page were created with the help of generative AI tools and subsequently edited manually. The characters, battlefields, and in-game pixel art graphics that make up the core game experience are completely outside of this scope.
Generative AI tools were used during development for limited coding assistance and as a starting point for some 3D assets. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, modified, and integrated by the developer. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
We use a translation AI tool to allow us to help more players play this game comfortably
All pixel artwork is hand-made by a human artist (Dani Maccari, licensed and credited). Sound effects are procedurally synthesized from hand-authored code and Suno AI. AI tools were used during development as a programming assistant and to help draft and edit some in-game and store text, all of which was human-directed, reviewed, and curated. No generative AI runs at runtime, and no AI-generated imagery ships with the game.
Background music was generated with Suno. Background images and character sprites were generated with image-generation AI (Google Gemini, Pollo AI), then curated and edited by the developer. Much of the program code was written with an AI coding assistant (Claude Code) under the developer's direction and review. Game design and sound effects are the developer's own work. No content is generated by AI at runtime.
The cards used to change up each run have back ground images that were produced by AI.
Music and voice narration use AI generated audio, later edited by the developer.
AI translation was used to assist with text localization.
The non-English text is AI machine-translated for now (English is the only hand-written one), and it's labelled as AI in-game. If you're a native speaker and want to help fix the rough spots, there'll be an open localization repo for corrections, which ship in updates.
Generative AI was used to assist with the localization of the game's text into multiple languages. The Portuguese and English localizations were reviewed by the developer, while the Japanese localization received partial human review. Other supported languages were translated with AI assistance and have not yet received full human review, or their review is still in progress.
The two announcer voices, BroadcASH and BOBcast, are generated with ElevenLabs from scripts we write and edit ourselves. Every line is approved, levelled and listened to by hand before it ships. Nothing else in the game is AI generated. The card art is emoji placeholder today, and is being replaced with original illustrations commissioned from human artists. The music is composed in-house by our own procedural scripts, and every track has a written provenance log. The rules, the design and the natural history research are ours. Some marketing and store copy is drafted with AI assistance and edited before use.
Some of our store and marketing art started as AI-generated images. We used Midjourney to create the base key art for the Steam capsules, the library hero and the page background, then edited and composited those into the final images ourselves. The logo, wordmark and typography are our own work. The game itself does not use generative AI. Every in-game asset (art, animation, UI, music, sound, and code) was made by us, by hand or with our own tools. We’ve reviewed the AI-assisted art, we hold the rights to use it commercially, and as far as we’re aware it doesn’t infringe anyone else’s work.
