Public Steam disclosure research 25,383 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some item images in this game were created using AI-generated imagery as part of the development process.
Some of the images on this game's store page were created using artificial intelligence.
As a solo developer, I use AI tools as creative assistants. This allows me to include full voice acting and detailed environments that would otherwise be impossible for a single person. This is not mindless generation – every asset has been carefully curated, manually edited, and implemented to serve the game's story and atmosphere.
We use AI in all our products, where possible, including but not limited to helping in creation of code, graphical assets and text. AI is used as a workflow tool, much like digital art software or modern coding tools. Use of AI allows us to have more and better features which would otherwise be impossible or time and cost prohibitive for a small independent game studio.
AI assisted tools were used during development to help create some assets, all of which were reviewed and finalized by the developer. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay, and players cannot input prompts or create AI-generated material.
Artificial intelligence was used to assist in writing code, creating graphical assets and music.
Some images are generated using ai and some code is written with the help of ai.
Multilingual Translation
None of the music is AI generated. The Bard's Kingdom was built by a solo developer using AI as a creative partner. Artwork was generated with AI tools and hand-edited to fit the game's vision. Programming was done collaboratively with AI assistance, guided by over a decade of software development experience. The story, design, and heart of the game are entirely human.
AI assistance was used to enhance the quality of the design of some cards in the video game.
Artificial intelligence was only used to generate book covers, as there were a huge number of them and they were only used on classic books, they were not used on the remaining unique and magical books.
Artificial intelligence was used to localize the store page and in-game text.
Only a few of the materials are created by AI.
Photo creation
This game uses AI-assisted tools during development for tasks such as text drafting and iteration support. All gameplay systems, content design, and final assets are created and curated by the developer. AI is not used for real-time gameplay decision-making.
Generative AI was used only at early stages to create rough visual references for some artwork (including in-game visual effects and store page materials). All final assets were fully redrawn, edited, and created manually by the developer.
The game was programmed by the developer. AI was used as a code-reviewer and suggested changes were implemented within individual functions. Some sound effects were AI generated. Others were legally sourced or recorded by the developer. All sound effects were edited by the developer. To the best of my knowledge, no AI generated images exist in this game. Every animation in the game was made by the developer. Some of the background objects, tile sprites, and fire sprites were sourced from legally purchased asset packs and then modified by the developer.
Some art assets in the game are generated by AI
大部分背景图像都有利用到AI工作流辅助生成图片
AI-generated content—most of the artwork, aside from the UI, is generated or modified by AI.
Pre-Generated AI was used for: - Background artwork - Character illustrations All AI-generated content was reviewed and edited by the developer. No Live-Generated AI is used in this game.
Partly AI Logo
Some art and promotional assets were created with the help of AI tools, and AI assisted the developer during coding. The game’s design, puzzles, mechanics, and final gameplay experience are handcrafted.
No image in this game is used exactly as produced by an AI without human editing; all images have been modified, reworked, or supplemented manually. The in-game texts and the store page description were partially written with the help of AI tools, then proofread and corrected by a human.
I have used the AI only to prepare the rough localizations. Furthermore on the way I'am planing to setup crowd localization
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist in asset creation. This includes: Certain art assets (character sprites, backgrounds, UI icons) were generated by AI and manually retouched. AI assistance was used for writing game code. All AI-generated content has been reviewed to ensure it contains no illegal or infringing material.
Every character, story, and animation in this game is handcrafted. AI was only used, albeit reluctantly, to help create some background music — the only magic not coming from the author’s quill.
How Does It Work? The Human-Led Creative Process Players will start their game by participating in a time traveling Ritual. AI doesn't write our story; it writes a story within a world which our creative team has designed. The Ritual takes what you describe and the world we’ve built – its art, biomes, enemy types, magic systems and overarching lore – and turns it into gameplay that’s personal to you. These aren't AI suggestions; they are human-designed game mechanics and rules that AI must follow. During The Ritual, you describe your hero – their name, and how they look, plus curious nuggets about what they love, hate, are known for etc. When you describe your hero as "a punk rocker who fears spiders and loves the color red," our platform triggers a process and system instructions that work hand-in-hand with Gemini AI. We send your input along with our own carefully crafted guidelines that tell Gemini exactly how to evaluate content appropriateness. All storytelling is orchestrated by logic the engineering team designed, not AI deciding what happens next, alongside a story bible and character descriptions, creating assets, in real time, to craft your customized gaming experience. All character visuals are generated using a custom AI model (LoRA) trained exclusively on our own artwork. It understands how we draw faces, hairstyles, armour, and bodies – the rules, proportions, and style choices behind the art – rather than copying individual images or creating its own. This means when your character gets generated, it is not generic AI art; it is our artistic DNA interpreting your imagination. The result is a caricature of your hero, rendered in our visual language. Similarly, character abilities aren't randomly generated; they follow strict mathematical systems. When Gemini generates a Unique Spell, for example, the damage, archetype, name, colours, and parameters, come from us. While The Ritual could find anyone at all in the past, we’ve also implemented layers of safeguards to ensure only true heroes can be recruited to the war effort.
Some asset concepts are adapted from AI generated images
It helps me create game assets, which I then refine myself.
Contains AI-assisted audio and minor UI icon assets. All gameplay systems, mechanics, and levels are handcrafted by the developer.
AI is used only on narratives.
Environment tiles are assisted by AI tools to support the game’s art development. We intend to get rid of this IA asset as soon as possible. All gameplay and player content is fully created and controlled by the developers
AI generated images have been used as reference images. All generated images have been either very heavily modified or fully redrawn by artists before.
AI used only for promo materials: - Logos: AI-generated (image tools). - Trailer & banners: AI-assisted. All in-game content handcrafted. No runtime AI.
Icons and logos in-game and for marketing may be created with the use of AI
The four assets in this work—one UI component and three landscape paintings used as wall decorations (frames not included)—were produced using additional AI for refinement. None of them were created by AI from the ground up. AI helped with grammatical corrections for in-game text, which were then carefully reviewed and adjusted by hand. We only consider AI to be a supportive tool. Every detail is meticulously crafted with human intent, as our creative process is still firmly anchored in manual craftsmanship.
I'm a solo developer making this game entirely on my own with a zero budget. Without AI, I would've gone mad creating such a massive project. It would've taken around 15 years just to reach Early Access. To be completely transparent: during development, I may use AI tools to assist with content creation, primarily for routine tasks. However, everything is always manually reviewed and refined by me. The workflow is strictly: My work → AI → My work.
AI was used to generate the store images and splash page for Dungeonfall.
Abyssbound uses generative AI to create certain voice lines and character animations. These AI-generated elements are used to enhance atmosphere and storytelling, but they do not affect gameplay mechanics or player progression. All AI-generated content is integrated in a way that supports the game's artistic direction.
AI was used to create pixel images, some BGM.
Some of the game's icons and UI are created by AI, and the English translations are first translated by AI then manually reviewed
This game uses generative AI tools for pre-rendered content only. Music was generated using Suno, and some system text and dialogues were created with assistance from GPT-based models. No live generation or AI content creation occurs during gameplay.
AI-assisted tools were used during development to help generate early visual concepts and assets. These were then refined, reworked, and integrated by the developer to support the game’s atmosphere.
Game Logo is created by AI.
Almost all of the game is hand-made art and code, but A.I. has been used to create concepts and is used in the workflow to quickly get ideas for logos or assets. The voice overs are currently all a.i. generated but will be replaced at an later point.
All in-game art was created by real human artists. The AI tool Cursor (a programming IDE) was used to help with developing the code for the game itself. The initial background of the icon used for the game was generated using AI tools.
I used it to edit a single texture that I had drawn myself for an effect.
游戏中部分图片、音频会采用AI生成。
The development process of the game used AI to generate backgrounds, characters images, and other images such as items for hidden objects, runes for match-3, and jigsaw images. Game logo was partially generated with AI. Additionally, AI was used to generate voice-overs and some part of localizations into french and German.
