Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
We use AI tools to generate initial character concepts and static base sprites. These generated images serve as a foundation and are subsequently manually edited, processed, rigged, and animated by hand using 2D animation software to create the final assets seen in the game.
This game does not generate or modify content at runtime.
A small portion of assets (around 20%) was created with generative AI tools during development.
All such assets were manually edited, reviewed, and finalized to ensure originality, quality, and compliance with copyright and safety standards
This game uses pre-generated AI only for certain UI background images and promotional store visuals. These assets were created before release and remain fixed. The game does not include any live AI generation during gameplay.
Generative AI was used to create a pre-rendered promotional artwork (store page and capsules) and faction logos used in game UI. The game itself does not use AI during gameplay.
All images used for the game's visuals were generated using the Bing Image Creator (Microsoft Copilot Designer).
The background music includes tracks that were created and mastered using generative AI.
No AI was involved in coding or core game design
Artificial intelligence tools were used to enhance and refine the capsule artwork for the game's Steam store page, with the final result further edited and finalized manually.
As a solo developer, I use Generative AI in limited, clearly defined ways during the development of Anomaly Island.
This includes:
Assisting in the creation of certain UI elements
Helping with coding learning and a small number of the sound effects
Generating quick previews of marketing materials via in-game screenshots lightly animated into short clips for promotional use
All AI-assisted marketing assets are explicitly labeled and further edited or composited using traditional tools, such as Adobe After Effects.
All unlabeled images, screenshots, and videos shown on this Steam page or in official trailers are directly captured from real in-engine gameplay with no generative AI manipulation.
No environments, models, animations, gameplay systems, level design, or narrative content are AI-generated.
Generative AI was used during the development process to assist in creating 2D UI assets (icons) and drafting text for the store page and item descriptions. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and finalized by the developer to ensure it fits the game's aesthetic and does not contain infringing material. The game does not generate any content live via AI during gameplay.
AI tools are used to assist in the creation of some pre-rendered content, such as concept imagery, promotional visuals, or draft marketing assets (for example, store page artwork or community images).
This game uses AI-generated content for a small number of in-game item images and some UI elements. All gameplay systems, and core assets are created manually.
Throughout the game, there are displayed lines of code written out that serve as flavor text and effects for many elements of the game's UI & visuals. This huge amount of text was generated by ChatGPT with the express instruction that none of it is really functional, but visually plausible C# code.
I'm a solo developer making this game entirely on my own with a zero budget. Without AI, I would've gone mad creating such a massive project. It would've taken around 15 years just to reach Early Access.
To be completely transparent: during development, I may use AI tools to assist with content creation, primarily for routine tasks. However, everything is always manually reviewed and refined by me. The workflow is strictly: My work → AI → My work.
AI was used in the game's thumbnail and was not used in the game's code or any other development resources. However, the aforementioned thumbnail and all other game resources were created by the developer.
Generative AI (Google Gemini) was used to draft, translate, and refine the store descriptions and in-game text based on the developer's concepts. Every output was reviewed and edited by the developer to ensure accuracy and alignment with the game's vision.
No AI art, no AI music, no AI sounds, no AI dialouges/descriptions/names, no vibe coding was used during development of game. Only: very small misc UI elements, some smaller closed coding elements like some shaders and AI machine translation for every steam supported language excluding English, Polish and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).
This game uses traditional, non-generative AI only for gameplay logic such as enemy navigation, combat behavior, and basic decision-making (for example taking cover, flanking, or reacting to player actions).
We do not use generative AI to create art, animation, audio, or text, and we do not use AI for biometric analysis, surveillance, or player profiling. No player data is used to train any AI systems.
During development, our small team may use procedural generation and AI-assisted tools to help create marketing materials content. In all such rare cases, the final result reflects the creativity and expression of our own team.
This game uses AI-assisted tools to generate and refine certain 2D visual assets. These include general artwork such as loading screens, character portraits, item icons, and background illustrations. All AI-generated elements are reviewed, edited, and integrated by our art team to ensure consistency with the game’s visual style and artistic direction.
Artificial intelligence is only used for a few non-playable visuals: the game’s title screen (main menu artwork) and some promotional graphics on the Steam store page. No in-game sprites, animations, textures, gameplay assets, sounds, or mechanics are generated by AI. All playable content is fully created by human artists and developers.
Pre-generated only. The game contains artwork and music created with generative AI before release. All visuals were edited and finalized by the developer in Photoshop. Music was generated with Suno and mastered for in-game use.
No runtime AI is used — the game does not generate content while running. No user prompts or uploads are accepted.
Some visual materials of the game (such as logo, banner, or icon designs) were created using generative AI tools and then refined by the developer. All gameplay content and programming were fully created by the developer.
AI is used to translate Japanese text into other languages, primarily for settings screens and tutorials. I plan to hire professional localization services once I have the funds.
This game uses AI-assisted tools to help create some concept art, promotional materials, and certain background visuals.
No live AI generation occurs during gameplay. All AI-assisted content has been reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer to ensure originality and quality.
The promotional artwork used on the Steam store page was generated with AI tools.
Also in-game art, sprites, animations, gameplay systems and assets were created with the help of AI.
