Public Steam disclosure research 25,497 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.

Some images were generated using AI
AI tools are used as part of solo development. Just like photoshop was, and javascript, and my own human brain.
Most game assets are from itch.io and customized in Aseprite. A few, such as the capsules are courtesy of Geoff Hinton and co.
The game used AI-assisted background generation — all AI drafts were later refined and hand-painted by the artist.

Character designs and illustrations generated by AI
Some of the audio and music assets, texts, graphical icons are generated with ai, edited by our team.
This game uses generative AI only to create some 2D visual assets (e.g. key art, logos, achievement icons and other marketing/store artwork). All AI-generated content is pre-rendered, manually reviewed, and static. The game itself does not perform any live AI generation, does not take user prompts for AI, and does not send any user data to AI services.
Some illustrations used in the Arcade Mode (beta version) were created using a hybrid workflow that combines hand-drawn artwork and generative AI-assisted editing. The developer first creates original pencil sketches by hand, then digitizes and edits them on PC. Generative AI is used only to assist with draft refinement and background adjustments, followed by additional manual editing in image software. It has not yet been decided whether these illustrations will be replaced with fully hand-crafted versions during or after Early Access development.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with localization and limited code drafting. All final shipped content was reviewed and edited by the developer before release.
AI tools were used to localize Solitaire Deck's text into multiple languages, this is the only AI content in the game. As a solo developer, it was my only feasible way to support players who prefer games in their native language. Some translations have been reviewed by native speakers, and I'm working to get more checked over time. If you spot anything off, please let me know through the Steam discussions and I'll get it fixed.
Some written content (store descriptions, in-game text) and select marketing images were created with the assistance of AI tools. No AI-generated content is used in gameplay, game assets, or game systems.
AI usage has been very light and, in my opinion, the correct/optimal use of AI. AI has been predominately used in the form of a chatbot efficiency tool. I've used it to troubleshoot matchmaking logic flows, I've pasted blocks of text for it to clean up readability or catch spelling errors, I just asked it for the quickest way to change images to grayscale in MS Paint as I was creating Steam Achievements. Things like that. I have hired an artist that claims he does not use AI, though I admit I cannot completely verify that. The hero image and some title art was developed by him. All sprite work in the game itself was made by humans. Music was pulled from various places. My brother-in-law created some songs and did not use AI. Other tracks and sound effects were pulled from free-use websites that did not make any AI disclosures. Really truly, the heart and soul of this game is for humans made by humans. AI has been used, but only as the tool it is meant to be, not as the replacement of human creativity it is slowly elbowing its way into.
The Buzz Quiz trailer features scenes created using AI.
GenAI was used for the generation of limited in-game and store page artwork. I am actively seeking an artist open to minor projects to replace AI content.
Generative AI was used to assist in the creation of certain game art assets, such as textures and UI elements. These assets were further refined and polished by our internal development team to ensure visual quality and consistency within the Unreal Engine environment.
Text in the game and its promotional materials is machine translated. No code or graphic assets in the game itself, or its promotional materials, have been generated using machine learning algorithms.

This game uses generative AI to support both development and gameplay features. During development, AI tools were used to assist in creating certain text, visual, and audio assets. In-game, AI provides conversational responses during NPC interactions, enhancing immersion and social gameplay. All AI-generated content is reviewed and controlled to ensure it aligns with the game’s design and provides a safe player experience.
Some fictional team logos and UI graphic assets were created with the assistance of generative AI tools during development. All logos are fictional, do not represent real lacrosse leagues, teams, schools, or organizations, and were reviewed/edited by the developer to avoid infringing or illegal content.
At Banana we use AI to help us develop our game in code, translations and background elements. No live AI systems are used in-game.
PhotoGuesser uses generative AI to assist in creating some pre-rendered audio content, such as sound effects and music used in the game. This game uses generative artificial intelligence to create some of its visual content, particularly the images shown in cutscenes. These AI-generated visuals help bring the story to life and allow for faster iteration and creative exploration. The cutscene images will be updated regularly as the technology improves and as the game's story evolves. This means you may notice changes in visual quality and storytelling over time, as we continue to refine and enhance the experience.
