Chess Master Quest was developed by a solo developer with assistance from generative AI tools during development.
• Code: AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude) were used to help write and refine parts of the game code. All code was reviewed and tested by the developer.
• Text: AI was used to help draft and edit some in-game text, including puzzle annotations and educational commentary. All text was reviewed and edited by the developer.
No AI-generated visual art or music is used in the game. Chess piece graphics are open-source vector assets. Store capsule images and artwork were created by a professional artist. The chess engine (Stockfish) is traditional software, not generative AI. No content is generated by AI at runtime during gameplay.
We are a small studio with only six people actively involved in development. For teams like ours, generative AI is a supportive tool that helps us realize a creative vision that would otherwise be completely out of reach within our budget.
Here is exactly how we utilized generative AI in our game:
• We used generative AI during the prototyping and concept art phases. Every AI-generated image was manually modified, iterated upon, and finalized by our artist.
• The sea shanties in the game feature AI-generated vocals and music, but the lyrics are original and written by our team.
• Certain voice-over (VO) lines were generated using AI.
Artificial Intelligence tools were utilized during the foundational (base) creation stage for the game's visual assets. All generated outputs were then manually refined, re-processed, and enhanced by our artists through hours of dedicated Photoshop-Photopea work to ensure they align perfectly with the game's unique and original art style. We have utilized AI merely as a 'brush' guided by an artist’s touch; therefore, the resulting visuals should be evaluated as successful illustrations driven by human craftsmanship rather than simple AI-generated products.
All visual assets (sprites, terrain, UI, capsule art) were AI-generated and then manually edited in GIMP. Game design, direction, and integration were done entirely by the solo developer.
A few promotional images used on this store page were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. The game itself contains no AI-generated content.
Some trivia questions were generated with the assistance of AI tools. However, all questions and answers have been manually reviewed, edited, and fact-checked by me before being included.
English (recommended wording)
We used generative AI in a limited way during the development of this app and its store presence.
Store / community assets (store page presentation): We used generative AI tools to create or edit some promotional graphics used on the store page (e.g., capsule images, key art, banners). All final assets were reviewed and edited by the developer before publishing.
Audio (background music): Some in-game background music (BGM) was created with the assistance of generative-AI-based tools. The final audio was reviewed and edited (and where applicable mixed/mastered) by the developer before being included in the game.
Gameplay / features: The game does not include features that generate content for players in real time (e.g., AI chat or player-prompted content generation). The use of AI is limited to asset creation support during development.
Burner Empire uses generative AI in the following ways:
During Development
Some visual assets in the game were created with the assistance of AI image generation tools. These assets were reviewed, curated, and integrated by the development team as part of the game's overall visual design.
In Gameplay
Burner Empire features an AI-driven bot fleet that populates the game world with computer-controlled players. These bots use a combination of scripted decision logic and AI-driven behavior modeling to simulate realistic player activity — cooking drugs, deploying dealers, traveling between districts, and engaging in PvP. The bot fleet exists to ensure the game world feels active and competitive regardless of the current number of human players online.
The bot fleet is not generative AI in the traditional sense — it does not produce text, images, or creative content. It is a behavioral simulation system designed to make the multiplayer environment feel alive during off-peak hours and at launch while the player community grows.
What AI Does Not Do
No generative AI is used to create real-time dialogue, procedurally generate game content during play, or make decisions that affect monetization or player accounts.
Some of the store images and promotional artwork for Egg Hunter were created using AI tools. This was only used for visual marketing materials—everything in the actual game (gameplay, levels, mechanics) is original and made by the developer.
Some promotional assets created during development, including certain store-page media, used generative AI-assisted artwork. The shipped game does not use live AI-generated gameplay content, and it does not connect to any external AI service during play.
We may use AI-assisted tools during development to help streamline content creation—such as generating placeholder or supporting elements like character voiceovers.
All AI-assisted content is guided, refined, and finalized by our development and creative team. The finished product fully reflects our creative vision, with AI serving only as a tool to accelerate the process—not replace the craftsmanship behind it.
This app includes pre-generated AI-assisted visual assets used in store/marketing materials and some in-game 2D visuals. No generative AI features are available to players during gameplay, and the game does not accept user prompts for AI generation.
Some of the pre-made visual elements used in Quadrix—including certain card images/templates, game music, and some game mode icons—were created with the help of generative AI tools. These elements were reviewed, selected, and refined by the developer before being added to the game to ensure they align with the game’s visual style and usability requirements. Quadrix does not use real-time generative AI during gameplay, and players cannot generate AI-generated content within the game.
GOLF+ uses AI-assisted tools in limited areas of development such as in-game voice-over audio and select 2D visual assets, such as battle medals. Additionally, AI tools are used to assist in the creation of some marketing materials.
During the development process, we leverage AI tools to support the generation of specific art assets and the creation of procedural content. This approach is primarily driven by resource limitations within our art team and the need to address schedule constraints. AI assists us in rapidly prototyping 3D model foundations, generating initial environmental textures, and sketching concept art, enabling our artists to focus on high-value creative tasks such as refining character expressions, animating skill VFX, and unifying the artistic vision. It is important to note that none of our key visual elements (including core 3D characters, environments, and dynamic effects) are directly AI-generated final products. Instead, AI outputs are used as starting points that undergo extensive manual refinement, detail sculpting, and artistic reinterpretation by our dedicated art team. We are committed to rejecting any shortcuts of using AI-generated 2D imagery to compromise player experience; instead, we prioritise "AI boosting efficiency, humans defining quality". The final game's visuals are a testament to our artists' craftsmanship and aesthetic rigor. Additionally, AI streamlines our workflow management, allowing our limited resources to prioritise gameplay strategy and combat tuning. Player privacy and the responsible use of AI remain paramount: No player data is used for training or shared externally without consent.
As a solo developer working on a passion project, I utilized generative AI tools to assist in creating some of the visual assets for the game. This includes character portraits, background art, and certain UI elements. All music, audio and localization in the game are entirely human-made and do not use any generative AI technologies.
This game has used Generative AI during the development process. It was used minimally during coding, mostly for auto complete, <1% of the code is a result of the output from AI. More extensively is AIs use in the artwork, in order to speed up the process sketches were created by artist, details were filled in by AI, then artists corrected the output.
AI tools were used during development as a programming aid and for early concept exploration. All gameplay systems were developed by the creator, and all in-game assets are original, commissioned, or licensed.
We have used AI primarily for image generation and for optimizing the network system in Typer3000. AI-driven image generation allowed us to rapidly create and iterate visual assets such as backgrounds, interface elements, and stylistic variations, ensuring a consistent and scalable visual design.
In addition, we have used AI to support the setup and optimization of the multiplayer network architecture. It helped us refine data transmission strategies, reduce latency, and improve synchronization of player inputs, resulting in a smooth and responsive real-time gameplay experience.
