Public Steam disclosure research 26,946 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.

AI is used for part of the image processing and coding.
EXD was created by a small independent team over the course of more than three years of development. 99.99% of its content was made entirely by hand, including real-world objects that were physically sculpted and later digitized to be brought into the game world. A very small number of assets (~30 out of more than 27,000 total) were created by our artists with the help of generative AI tools.
Background music and SFX were generated using generative AI (pre-rendered).
During development, this game used generative AI tools to help brainstorm, expand, and polish narrative and dialogue text, and to assist with in-editor organization in the development stage (for example, using novel/story-related plugins to structure plot outlines). All such material was reviewed, rewritten, and unified by the team; the final in-game text is based on the version approved by the team. If a game build includes dialogue or text generated in real time by a large language model (for example, online responses from a third-party AI service), we will update this disclosure with the specific scope when that feature goes live. In the currently public version, the experience is primarily based on pre-written, human-reviewed story content. We did not use generative AI to replace basic fact-checking for historical subject matter; statements involving history and historical figures remain guided by design intent and human oversight.
Some visual assets used for the store page and promotional materials were created with the assistance of generative artificial intelligence tools. The game itself does not include AI-generated gameplay content, and no generative AI is used during gameplay.
AI tools were used to assist in the creation of the trailer and promotional materials displayed on this store page.
Card images and the post are generated by AI
Generative AI was used as a supportive tool to enhance the visual details of character portraits and a specific in-game interactable item. Additionally, AI-assisted technology was utilized to refine multi-language translations to ensure linguistic accuracy for global players, and AI-generated voice technology was used for the audio narration in the main teaser video.
Used AI to generate background music.
This game uses generative artificial intelligence tools only during development to create certain visual and audio assets. All content experienced by players is pre-rendered and reviewed, with no automatic real-time generation during gameplay.
AI based translation tools were used to generate draft translations that were manually reviewed and adjusted by human
In order to better reflect the identity of our game and obtain easier outputs, we use artificial intelligence to produce content such as capsule images, small logos, and simple text found on our game's store page.
Some pre-generated visual assets used in the game and its store/marketing materials, including certain splash images and UI icons, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. These assets were integrated as pre-generated content during development. The game does not use live-generated AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services while running.
Pre-generated AI was used to assist in creating some store page and marketing artwork (including capsules and promotional images). These assets were manually reviewed and edited before use. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay.
The achievement images are AI generated. Nothing else in the game uses generative AI
Graphic marketing materials
AI used for generating descriptions of game
Generative AI tools were used to assist in the creation of some art assets.
This game uses generative AI for translations.
As a micro independent team, we utilized AI tools to assist in creating minor graphical assets. This allowed our super limited resources to remain focused entirely on the core gameplay mechanics, coding, and storytelling that define the experience.
This area used AI: background design.
We use generative AI as an assistive tool in the following areas of development: Art (Character Portraits) — AI is used to generate initial draft sketches for character portraits. All AI-generated drafts are manually refined, redrawn, and finalized by our artists to meet our quality and style standards. Art (UI Icons) — AI is used to generate a portion of UI icons for the game interface., All AI-generated outputs are reviewed, modified, and approved by our team before inclusion in the final product. We ensure that no AI-generated content infringes on third-party intellectual property rights.
A portion of the card art in Gather CCG was created with the assistance of generative AI. Every piece of AI-generated content has been hand-selected and verified by the developer to maintain high quality and ensure full compliance with copyright standards.
I used ai to make me quick and easy descriptions about the game
Some graphic elements use AI-generated images.
AI is being used only on promotional materials of the game as such as posters, banners.
As a solo developer starting out a hobby project, I used different AI generated images early on. I have since, after deciding to stick with the game, attempted to clean up and change to known license images and content, or make and remake where possible.
This game includes content created with the assistance of generative AI. AI tools were used to help create some visual assets, including promotional images, UI/background concepts, and selected in-game art references. AI-assisted coding tools were also used during development to help draft, refactor, debug, and improve parts of the game code. All generated or AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer before inclusion in the game.
Voice Acting
During the game's Early Access (EA) phase, we used AI to quickly build gameplay prototypes, including some art assets. These assets will be iteratively replaced upon the official 1.0 release.
Partial initial generation of graphical images during the game development process.
This project is being developed by a small two-person team. The use of AI tools in this project is strictly limited to the following assets: - flag textures - selected marketing assets and voice lines We plan to replace these elements with fully original, custom-created assets and professionally recorded voice acting as soon as funding allows. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and integrated by the development team to ensure consistency and quality.
At current development stage, the AI generated pre-rendered content are only used for placeholders. Later they will be replaced by the actual hand drawn artworks.
Some assets in Witherheart, including visuals and audio, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All content has been curated and integrated by the development team.
Some of temporary 2d assets are generated with AI for the demo and intended to be replaced with no-ai art for the full game
AI tools were used to assist in the conceptualization of store page art and background art. The final in-game assets are hand-crafted pixel art based on these AI-generated concepts.
About localization Please note:The English localization is AI-assisted and human-verified. We are continuously refining the text, so please feel free to join us and share any feedback !
I have used AI tools to produce code, images and music for the game.
During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.
Generative II was used to create various enemy icons and background images. Game content, mechanics and internal game materials were created manually.
Geminum uses AI to generate mainly focus on sound effect, music and actor lines.Partly uses AI on a few object texture.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with localization and limited code drafting. All final shipped content was reviewed and edited by the developer before release.
Music AI generated music, icons and voice overs.
Generative AI is starting to be used solely for sound effects, and I'm limiting my use to sound effects only. Now, as in the future, music and art will not be created using generative AI.
This game uses generative AI tools to assist with some pre-generated visual assets, including background art, character-related promotional art, item imagery, and store page materials. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, selected, and edited by the developer before release. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.
