This game's early development utilized local AI systems for generating initial ideas and imagery surrounding the stage layouts and the initial musical passages, then further edited manually through various pieces of software (Art software and DAWs + numerous VSTs).
Generative AI was used during development to create and assist with some of the game's visual assets, including character artwork, event illustrations, backgrounds, and other graphical elements, as well as some of the music used in the game. AI-generated materials were reviewed, selected, and edited by the developer before being included in the game. Generative AI is not used to dynamically generate gameplay, dialogue, story content, visual assets, or music while the game is running.
Generative AI was used as part of the development process to assist with the creation and refinement of select visual assets, including concept art, graphical elements, and promotional artwork. AI-generated content is reviewed and modified by the development team before being included in the game or its associated materials.
I've been using Generative AI tools as part of development for things like programming assistance, troubleshooting, research, brainstorming, and some concept exploration. ECHO//syntax is a work of mechanics made from love of the beat-em-up genre from CHROMAGEM. It is designed, directed, assembled, tested, and curated by me. I make the first and final decisions on the game's mechanics, characters, levels, visual direction, and overall design. As a designer that's looking to get a particular feel and experience with this game, I'm looking through and making sure you're getting a good game to play and enjoy.
This game’s player-facing art, writing, and audio were created with generative AI and then selected, edited, and directed by the developer. Store images and trailers use the same pre-generated assets. No content is generated live during gameplay.
Some store visuals (capsule art) were created using AI image generation tools. Game text translations for languages other than English/Turkish were done with the assistance of AI translation and manual review. Cutscenes and the visual slides featuring dialogue were created with the assistance of AI.
We used AI tools during development: part of the source code was written with an AI assistant, and part of the pixel art was generated with PixelLab. Everything was reviewed, edited and tested by the developer by hand. The game generates nothing at runtime — all content is fixed in the build and identical for every player.
The developer first created a visual guide for the character NULL. Based on that guide, Meshy AI was used to create one pre-generated 3D character model. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay. All other game content, music, audiovisual works, film, website, and Unreal Engine and Wwise systems were created by the developer.
Artwork and portraits of fictional characters are generated using artificial intelligence.
Some art assets, sound effects and narrative materials were pre‑generated with AI tools during development. No AI‑generated content is created in real‑time during gameplay.
Some voice lines, sound effects, and music in the game and its trailer were created with generative AI tools (ElevenLabs, Suno), then reviewed, edited, and finalized by the developer. No content is generated by AI during gameplay.
Some code is aided by claude code
"In-game cinematic intro uses pre-generated AI video clips that were manually edited, paced, and layered with original text in OpenShot. Character sprites are based on original artwork that was digitized and enhanced for detail using Gemini, then animated in Krita."
AI generation including Codes, models, sfx, bgm.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist in creating some environmental artwork, textures, and 3D models. The generated assets were subsequently selected, edited, optimized, and integrated into the game by the developer. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
Some of the game's artwork — environments, ships, collectible objects — was created with the help of generative AI tools, then reworked, cropped and integrated by hand by the developer.
Generative AI was solely utilized to create the 2D background artwork for the main menu screen.
Generative AI tools were used to create some of the pre-rendered content that ships with this game and appears on this store page, specifically artwork and character voice audio. Nothing is generated by AI while the game is running.
The game supports multiple interface languages, and some visual assets were generated using AI.

As an individual developer, during development of this game, AI tools were heavily used. I disclose this honestly and transparently. 1. In-Game Assets Illustrations & Art: Unit portraits and the opening cinematic illustrations were generated using AI image models, then manually curated, retouched, and unified in style. All assets were human-reviewed under strict art direction to ensure historical tone and consistency. Opening Cinematic: Subtle motion effects on the illustrations were produced with an AI image-to-video model and assembled by using the Remotion pipeline. Background Music: The soundtrack was generated by an AI music model in multiple takes, then human-selected, mixed, and mastered. Telegram Voice-overs: The historical telegram voice-overs in-game were synthesized by an AI TTS system. Each character's reference voice was human-approved through listening tests before use. 2. Development Assistance Code: Game code was written and debugged with the aid of AI coding assistants. All code was human-reviewed and validated through automated testing. Localization: The game supports Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English. The English text was AI-drafted and human-proofread. 3. What Is NOT AI-Generated Historical Text: The telegrams in-game are taken from historical archives, 34 are verbatim transcriptions of the original documents, and 12 were written based on the sources. They were not AI-generated. Terrain & Map: The battlefield map was procedurally rendered from real elevation data (SRTM), not generated by AI. Game Balance & Statistics: Troop strength, Unit Introduction, and values were researched and set manually from historical sources, cross-checked for accuracy and play balance.

All character designs were originally hand-drawn by the developer, with AI used only for selected improvements and post-processing. AI was also used as a coding assistant. No AI-generated content is created live during gameplay.
Blood Vaults was independently developed by Cryptwake Studios with limited assistance from generative AI tools. These tools were used as part of the development workflow to assist with select visual assets, content, and development materials. The game’s design, systems, mechanics, direction, and implementation are developer-created. Any AI-assisted content appearing in the final game is reviewed, modified where appropriate, and integrated by the developer.
