The development of The Rug Racket used generative AI tools to assist in creating some of the content included in the game, such as art assets, as well as in the creation of the game's store page and marketing materials. All AI-assisted content was reviewed by the development team prior to release.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with some pre-generated 2D artwork and UI imagery, 3D models and animations, instrumental music and sound effects, localization drafts, and portions of the game code. As a solo developer, I selected, edited, integrated, and reviewed all of these outputs before inclusion. The game does not generate content at runtime and does not send player input to generative AI services.
AI tools were used in writing the game's code. No AI generated images, music, audio, or models were used. All artwork is Public-Domain paintings from famous, historical artists.
Generative AI was used during development to assist in the creation of certain visual assets, including some textures and artwork featured in story sequences. We believe games should be made by humans!
Localization was done in large parts by AI.
Most game assets are from itch.io and customized in Aseprite. A few, such as the capsules are courtesy of Geoff Hinton and co.
During development, we used AI-assisted tools to support the localization of in-game text into multiple languages. All AI-generated translations were reviewed and edited by our team to ensure accuracy and consistency with the game's tone and characters. Additionally, some food and cooking-related props were initially generated with AI-assisted tools and then manually refined by our artists to match the game's visual style and quality standards.
We do NOT use AI-generated art, and we never intentionally include AI assets in our game. We sometimes purchase assets and use stock photos. We do our best to verify them, but nowadays, distinguishing AI from human-made art can be hard. That said, if there is any specific artwork that you believe looks like AI or raises concerns, we would appreciate it if you could point it out on our Discord server. We will investigate and replace anything that might have slipped through. AI-generated art is NOT something we want to include in our game.
