Steam community assets and store page art. Planning to replace later with art from an artist.
I’m a solo developer. At this stage, generative AI is used only for some character artwork shown in the game’s trailer and promotional material. These assets are temporary and are not used in the game itself. As a one-person studio, I’m using temporary AI-generated artwork to gauge interest in the game before committing significant time or money to producing the final character art. I plan to replace this artwork with original/non-AI assets before release and will update this disclosure when that happens.
The AI coworkers in this game are voiced by a machine (TTS), and their dialogue was really written by AI together with self portraits, on purpose and under human review. The slop is diegetic. The code was written with AI agents and reviewed by the last human in that loop, the developer. That is also the plot. No AI runs at runtime. Everything was baked and reviewed before shipping.
Generative AI was used during development to generate suspect mugshot photos, dossier case texts, and to assist with language localization. All generated assets are static and pre-packaged into the game.
Some art is either produced using AI or directly inspired by it.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with certain pre-generated visual elements and sequences in the game. All such materials were reviewed, selected, edited, and integrated into the final video content by the Dev team. The game’s narrative, interactive structure, gameplay logic, and final presentation are created and controlled by the Dev team. No generative AI is used during gameplay, and no content is generated dynamically for players.
Generative AI tools were used to assist with the enhancement of certain promotional images, store page artwork, and place holder UI promotional content including lighting, color grading, atmospheric effects, and visual cleanup. The game's models, environments, gameplay systems, animations, and other in-game content are created by the developer. The game does not use live-generated AI during gameplay.
AI-assisted tools were used during the development of DarkDice in the following ways: Code development — AI coding assistants helped write and refactor portions of the game's codebase. Text editing — AI tools were used to proofread, polish, and tighten narrative and UI copy. Localization & Editing — AI is used to assist with the translation, text expansion, polishing, and style adjustment of game text between English and Chinese (Traditional/Simplified). Image generation — Some visual assets (case artwork, promotional images) were created using AI image-generation tools. No content is generated in real time during gameplay — every case is a fixed, pre-authored story; nothing changes between playthroughs.
Character/background art: ChatGPT (image generation) Music: SOUNDRAW (AI music generation) Translations other than Japanese (10 languages): Machine-translated via ChatGPT No AI runs at runtime — everything is pre-generated and bundled
Generative AI was used to draft this game's localized interface text (English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese); every line was reviewed and edited by the developer before shipping. The Han character data, spell descriptions and store artwork are not AI-generated: the characters come from Unicode IDS and public dictionary data, the spell descriptions are assembled by a deterministic algorithm from hand-written word pools, and the store images and trailer are drawn programmatically from real in-game captures. No AI runs during gameplay, and the game does not connect to any external AI service.
Generative AI was used in the development of this game. The background art and character illustrations were created with an image generation model; all images were selected, edited, and processed by the developer. The story text and game logic were drafted and implemented with a large language model, with the developer directing the story and scene design, reviewing and approving all content, and requesting revisions. No generative AI runs at runtime during gameplay.
Artificial intelligence tools were used as part of the development process for selected visual and audio elements, design references, and text translations. All final content was reviewed and curated by the development team.
AI technology was used to assist in the production of some image assets and backgrounds. No AI content is generated in real time during gameplay.

AI tools were used as part of the game's visual production and post-production workflow. The game's 3D assets, environments, characters, animations, and scenes are created and rendered by the developer. AI is primarily used to upscale lower-resolution renders to higher resolutions, helping reduce rendering time while maintaining the desired visual quality. In some cinematic sequences, AI-assisted tools are also used as part of the production process. Additionally, AI may be used for certain visual corrections, modifications, or minor fixes to rendered images instead of re-rendering an entire scene. AI is therefore used as a supporting tool in the development and post-production process, while the overall artistic direction, 3D production, scene creation, rendering, and final implementation are handled by the developer.
AI tools were used during development solely to assist with coding, including identifying and fixing bugs and making minor code corrections and improvements. AI does not generate any content for players during gameplay.
