Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
During the development of this game, AI-based tools were used for assistance with the creation of a limited number of 3D models, the preparation of Steam store visuals and description texts, and certain programming-related tasks.
Generative AI is being used for asset creation during development wherever possible (e.g. sprites, backgrounds, music) to ensure that I, as a solo developer, can keep up with the rapidly evolving nature of this project and meet both my own standards and player expectations of a polished experience.
This game used generative AI tools during development to have early placeholder UI/2D Art Assets. No generative AI is used during gameplay, and all final in-game assets were manually reviewed to ensure quality and originality.
We used generative AI to generate placeholder art for the players and enemies, which we plan to replace before the full release.
We also generated sprites for various items.
The developer describes how AI-generated content is used in the game as follows
- Game Title Idea
- Base of Main Character Design Concepts
- Background Music (BGM)
- Some Sound Effects (SFX)
A handful of key art pieces, concept illustrations, and store-page graphics were generated with AI image-generation software to help communicate King Charles’s look and tone. This use of AI is limited strictly to marketing materials.
Some of the game’s 2D artwork was created by feeding my original 3D models and hand drawn sketches to a generative model. I further edited and refined the output using digital painting to match the game’s style and maintain a cohesive visual identity.
As a two-person indie team, we utilize AI-assisted tools for artwork, voice acting, and select textual content. This allows us to:
✓ Maintain visual consistency
✓ Accelerate content iteration
✓ Focus on perfecting core gameplay
All AI-generated assets are manually curated to align with the game's vision. We're committed to continuously refining the final quality.
Some visual assets such as in-game icons, item illustrations, and store page artwork were created using generative AI tools. All AI-generated content was reviewed and edited to match the game’s aesthetic and ensure originality. No AI is used to generate content during gameplay.
Human touch + AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI) was used to enhance code efficiency and optimize selected graphical elements, improving the overall performance and visual quality of the project — while preserving its handcrafted style and unique artistic identity.
This game uses AI-generated content in two areas. The character voiceovers were created using ElevenLabs to provide high-quality text-to-speech performance. Additionally, certain character artwork was created with Meshy AI. These tools were used to support the development of voice acting and visual assets, and all generated content has been integrated and curated manually to fit the game’s design.
I have used AI to machine translate the in-game texts to languages other than danish and english.
I would very much like your help in refining these translations, if you come across something that is really off. Thank you in advance.
As a solo developer, I wore a lot of hats while making this game, from coding to design and everything in between. To help speed things up and focus more on gameplay and polish, I used some generative AI tools during development:
Visuals: A few in-game and store assets, such as textures, images, and concept references, were created with the help of AI tools, then edited and refined to match the look and feel I was going for.
Code Assistance: I also occasionally used AI to help with coding, mostly for brainstorming solutions, catching bugs faster, or speeding up repetitive tasks.
At the end of the day, every part of this game went through my hands. AI was just one of many tools in the toolbox. All creative direction, design choices, and final implementations were made by me.
Generative AI was used in a limited capacity for minor visual polish. Music is a custom mix created by the developer using royalty-free and AI-assisted elements, reviewed and finalized by the developer.
AI tools were used during development as a creative support tool.
They were primarily used for early graphical sketches and for code-related assistance such as debugging, helping me efficiently combine drawing, coding, composing, and story writing as a solo developer.
No AI-generated content is used directly in the final game.
All assets, code, music, and narrative content were created, refined, and implemented manually.
The use of AI was purely supportive and inspirational, serving as a catalyst for creativity rather than a source of finished content.
Transparency in the development process is important to me, which is why I am openly disclosing this here.
As a solo developer, I used AI to create some textures and marketing art (e.g., Steam capsule images) for the Dartmour: Tablets of the Ancients demo, as well as for coding assistance during development. The demo does not use AI for live-generated content or code during gameplay. The future full game, The Tablets of the Ancients: Chapter I - Dartmour, will feature an LLM to enhance dynamic storytelling, with details to follow closer to release.
In order to create better backgrounds and focus on the core parts of the game, we used AI to help create some of the backgrounds and props in the game. After the AI generates these images, our artists still need to make detailed modifications to them to ensure that the style of the backgrounds and props matches the environment, worldview, UI, and characters drawn by our talented artists.
Some visual concepts, store art assets, and most of the gameplay scripting were created with the assistance of AI tools to support solo development and explore creative ideas more efficiently. All final in-game content has been reviewed, tested, and implemented manually.
This game was developed entirely by a solo developer.
To make such an ambitious project possible, select elements were assisted by AI tools. These include AI-generated artwork for icons (like weapon skills, perks, and achievements) and machine-assisted translations for all supported languages except English, which was fully written by hand.
All gameplay systems, story, level design, and character behavior were handcrafted without AI involvement.
Some promotional visuals and design elements have been created with the help of AI tools.
The gameplay and code have been created by the developer under the guidance of AI.
AI was used only for guidance and troubleshooting during development, and no real-time AI content generation is present in the game.
