Public Steam disclosure research 25,383 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.

Some 3D models in the game are made with the help of AI, as well as some pictures, including the cover for the store.
AI was used to assist in the generation of a small number of game textures.
Most images are made by AI, such as pets, islands, goods, and facilities, etc.
Use of AI for game translation and some sound effects.
I used AI to generate game promotional posters, client icons, and community images.
Some of the environmental art in the game was created using artificial intelligence (AI) tools and was subsequently manually processed to align with the overall artistic style.
Some background object textures Background Music
Due to cost constraints, some of the in-game art resources (some item icons) in this project are generated using AI, while the video part is entirely shot on real machines with a small amount of post-production special effects. The content generated by AI accounts for less than 1% of the total material.

Generative AI was used to create the marketing materials, ship wreckage meshes, and voice acting for this game.
The game uses AI generated voice acting and AI assisted music.

We use AI to generate the images of the paintings in the game. They may potentially be changed based on feedback during early access.
Use of AI for some of the game's graphical elements.

New UI Designs
AI was used to develop in-game art assets like enemies and weapons as well as store-facing promotional materials.
Some in-game posters and artwork in Yurei Hunt were created using AI-generated assets to enhance the game's atmosphere and aesthetic. However, all core gameplay elements, mechanics, and designs are handcrafted to deliver a unique and immersive experience.
Some of the game's art assets were created with the assistance of AI-generated content, all of which have been manually adjusted and comply with platform content guidelines.
AI was used to create all the visuals in the game. However, every illustration required manual reworking, whether through adjustments, graphic polishing, or integration into the game. I understand that some may not appreciate this approach. Please know that my main goal has always been to create a fun and enjoyable game. I am a solo developer who left my job to dedicate 100% of my time to making video games. To be honest, I don’t know how to model in 3D or illustrate in 2D, which is why I used AI as a support tool. I’m fully aware that AI can be seen as a sensitive topic, and that’s why I’ve been reworking the visuals as much as possible. My wish is also, if the game allows me the resources after release, to collaborate with a 2D artist to further enhance the visual identity. Thank you sincerely for your understanding, and I truly hope you’ll enjoy playing Vampire Cat despite these choices. Your support means the world to me.
The store page capsule image background is generated by AI.
We have used AI to generate some logos, in game HUD's, some artwork and cutscenes.
"We used generative AI tools to assist in creating some visual elements and layout concepts for the store page design. All final assets were reviewed and edited to ensure they meet quality and content standards."
AI was used to help create cutscene background.
All designs are conceived and created by hand, but I also use AI tools during the pre-production phase to help develop details and after the compositing stage. The music in the game is generated by AI based on predefined parameters. The game does not use any real-time AI-generated content.
Artificial intelligence was used to enhance various aspects of the game. Narrations were generated with AI to provide an immersive experience. AI also assisted in editing and formatting the store texts, ensuring clarity and impact. Additionally, promotional images and the game video were created using AI technology, resulting in engaging and high-quality visual content. Translations were also performed with AI, enabling accessible communication for different audiences.
AI was used to assist with asset and plugin development.

Our small indie team has responsibly used generative AI tools to accelerate our development while maintaining full creative control. We used MidJourney to generate base visual assets, which were then carefully edited, customized, and rendered by our artists to match the game’s artistic direction. These AI-generated elements are part of the final visual content, but were not used “as-is” and underwent human refinement. For localization, we used AI-based tools to assist with proofreading and translation consistency, ensuring clearer communication across languages. No AI systems are used during gameplay or in real-time content generation. All interactive and gameplay logic was developed by our team. We fully comply with Steam’s policies regarding AI use, and all assets were created and integrated within the scope of ethical and legal use. Transparency and player trust are at the heart of our approach.
Generative artificial intelligence was used to create pre-rendered images for the game and store page.

As a solo indie dev with very limited resources, and also not a native English speaker. I use AI to assist with writing for both in-game and store page content, and translate the game to other languages.
We make use of co-pilot for code checking. We also make use of various tools during development for UV-wrapping & animation. We will use our own in-house proprietary mini-LLM that is packaged within the game to generate some parts of the dialogue.
We use AI to let our robots express themselves! If a robot became alive, it wouldn’t come pre-programmed with the perfect way to express its thoughts or emotions — it would have to figure it out along the way. That’s why the hero robots in Endless Machines use AI to give voice to their thoughts and feelings. What they say isn’t always polished or logical. It's quirky, weird, funny, and sometimes unexpectedly touching. It’s not a scripted, perfect dialogue. It’s more like a robot trying to make sense of the world — and itself — in real time. This approach makes their personalities dynamic and unpredictable. For us, that’s what makes AI-driven dialogue a perfect fit for the game: It’s about learning, exploring, and growing — just like the robots themselves. Under the hood, the game runs a small language model that has been custom fine-tuned for each robot's personality. It is instructed to speak through prompt engineering, ensuring the robot stays in character and relates to the game's lore. The model does not require online access. We chose to use SmolLM because we were looking for a language model where the training background, technical setup, and use of data are transparent (open source and based on publicly available texts), and where the model can be run locally. We use this locally hosted language model (LLM) to generate text content during gameplay. What the robots say in the game is defined and moderated by us. We have written a set of foundational texts that form the basis for each robot’s personality, tone, and way of expressing itself. From that foundation, they “build” further and develop over time. Endless Machines does not and cannot collect any data from the person playing the game. All outputs are guided by custom prompt engineering, custom fine-tuning, and are controlled by local code at runtime to ensure appropriate content. More details on the model architecture and dataset can be found here: 🔗 https://huggingface.co/datasets/HuggingFaceTB/smoltalk
