background music, sound effects, text, some sprites
Created with Astra and Claude.
AI tools were part of our process, helping with the game's art, writing and translations. Everything was shaped and reviewed by us, and nothing is generated by AI while you play.
All character and monster art is hand-drawn pixel art (MiniKyara by Atelier Pixerelia), not AI-generated. AI helped with the text, translations and sound. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
Some sprite artwork was created with generative AI tools during development. SPLIT-S does not generate AI content during gameplay or connect to external AI services.
AI was used on the translation and localization of the game into several languages.
Some visual and audio assets were generated with AI tools during development and edited for use in Dead Last. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
Every part of this game's concept, design, and features was created by humans. The ideas, the gameplay, the look and feel, and every decision about how it all fits together came from us. For the programming itself, we use AI coding agents to help us write code. They speed up development and let us focus our time on what matters most: making the game fun to play.
[Developer Notice]This game was developed with the assistance of AI tools used for programming and code generation during the development process.
Translations were made with AI assistance then reviewed by native speakers. Corrections from players are welcome.
Generative AI was used during development for the following: - Music: The background music was created with an AI music generation tool (Suno). - Word definitions: The definitions shown in the game were written with the assistance of AI, using the public dictionary data JMdict as a reference, and were reviewed and corrected by the developer. - Programming: AI was used as a development aid. No content is generated by AI during gameplay. All puzzles, word data, and visuals are pre-made.
This game used AI assistance to help arrange the store page artwork and to support programming. AI assistance was also used to write the store page text, and the multi-language localization in the current version was produced with AI assistance. All AI-related work was carried out under the direction and planning of the developer.
Generative AI was used as a supporting tool for some marketing assets, visual references for the game’s art, and parts of code development.
Pre-generated content only, nothing is generated while the game runs. Most of the pixel art for monsters, bosses, world objects (shrines, totems, traps, items), boon card art and the three hero cats was generated with PixelLab (an AI pixel-art tool) from text prompts and from our own hand-drawn references, then hand-corrected, quantized to the game's palette and animated frame by frame. The music and all sound effects are synthesized procedurally in our own code (no AI). Purchased asset packs (tiles, UI) are hand-drawn by their artists. No AI-generated text, voices or story.
Pre-generated AI content: Some promotional artwork used on the Steam store page was created with generative AI and subsequently edited by the developer
Translations of UI text
Some visual assets were created with the help of generative AI and then edited by the developer. A few sprite animations (doors opening, the ghost, the dynamite fuse and explosion, the turret turning) were generated with PixelLab from our own hand-made sprites, and some store artwork was made with AI image tools. Parts of the in-game text were written with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play.
localization
We use generative AI to assist in creating art images, adding more details to our work and speeding up the production process. AI-generated images are primarily used for backgrounds and certain CG details.
The store page texts and the pixel-art game logo and icon (also used in the game) were created with the help of an AI assistant and reviewed by the developer. Screenshots and capsule backgrounds are rendered directly from the game.
Some of Deadlight's artwork was created with the help of generative AI. This includes the key art, the store and library capsules, and the ten location paintings on the expedition screen. The images were generated with a locally run image model, then chosen, cleaned up and colour-graded by hand. The store page text and its translations were drafted with AI assistance and edited by the developer. No content is generated by AI while you play.
The in-game image, as well as the image on the Steam page, were generated using AI.
AI Generated Content Disclosure AI tools were used to assist in drafting the written text of this game (in-game explanations, codex entries, the four language versions of the interface, and store page descriptions); all such text was reviewed and edited by the developer. All artwork is procedurally rendered by shaders written by the developer, the store capsule artwork was commissioned from a human artist, and all sound is synthesised by the developer's own code. The game does not use AI to generate any content at runtime.
LLMs were used for language translation and localization only.
Some in-game visual assets were generated or modified with generative AI tools during development. The game also includes pre-recorded AI-generated combat voice lines. The developer selected and integrated these as fixed game assets before release.
AI tools assisted with a small number of icon images and most text localization. Localized text may be replaced in future updates with higher-quality, human-translated versions.
Some scenery, creature and equipment sprites, as well as some quest texts, were created with the help of generative AI tools, then manually edited and reviewed before integration. Playable characters (Liberated Pixel Cup), music and main texts are human-created works. During play, some NPCs offer optional, private text conversations generated by external AI services through our game server. A short memory summary may be generated to help that NPC remember previous conversations with the same player. These conversations are separate from scripted quest dialogue and cannot grant quests, items or rewards. This feature has usage limits and carries no additional charge.
Bloodloader was made by one developer with generative AI tools in the pipeline. Character, enemy and item sprites, tiles, icons and the store key art began as AI generations (PixelLab) and were selected, cleaned up, recoloured and assembled by the developer. Sound effects and music were generated with ElevenLabs and edited into final effects and seamless loops. Some in-game text was drafted with AI assistance and edited by the developer. Nothing is generated while you play.
The core art direction and a portion of the artwork were hand-drawn by the developer, and AI was used to produce additional assets in a matching style, which were then reviewed, edited and integrated by hand. The game's music was generated with AI tools. No AI content is generated live while the game is running.
Pre-generated content: Parts of the pixel art in this game were created with the AI tool PixelLab – including enemy characters and their animations, the modified boss creatures (based on licensed CC BY 4.0 dinosaur sprites), world backgrounds, story cutscene images, item and skill icons, and the logo emblem. In-game text and the English translation were written with the help of an AI language model and reviewed by hand. All music and sound effects are licensed and not AI-generated. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play. Some characters and their animation frames were subsequently redrawn or refined using OpenAI ImageGen during development.
