Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Generative AI was used to assist with some development and promotional content. All AI-assisted output was reviewed and curated by the developer.
Pre-generated content only. Some 2D art assets in the game (planet, star and interface sprites) and the store page capsule artwork were produced using generative AI image tools, then edited, composited, colour-corrected and integrated by hand. No generative AI runs at runtime and no content is generated live during gameplay. All audio is either licensed under Creative Commons with attribution given in-game, or original.
Used for sound, translation, and some icons
The word catalog (word lists, definitions, hints, fun facts and emoji clues) was drafted with the help of AI tools and then reviewed and edited by the developers. No AI-generated content is created at runtime, and the game contains no AI-generated art, voice, or music.
Only the game's source code was written with the assistance of an AI coding tool. All art, music, writing, and other creative assets were created by hand without generative AI.

Some store-page and marketing artwork for AVALANCHE was created or edited using generative AI. The game does not generate content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
We want to be transparent about our use of AI. AI was used only as a supporting tool for selected textures and sounds. Due to our limited budget, it helped us create visual assets that would otherwise have been difficult to produce within our resources. We deeply respect the work of real artists. The game’s concept, creative direction, design, and programming were created entirely by humans. AI was used only as a supplementary tool in a limited part of the audio/visual production process.
Some visual and audio assets were created with generative AI tools and then reviewed and edited by the developer: the city background scenes, the store trailers (including the animated cinematic and its character), the music tracks and ambient loops, and store/marketing images such as capsules and the icon. All gameplay, game design, code, UI, and text were written by the developer. No AI-generated content is created at runtime.
Some artwork, character voice lines and store promotional assets were created with generative AI during development and are supplied as fixed, pre-generated content. The game does not generate AI content during play or connect to external AI services.
We conducted game testing with AI bots and fine-tuned the balance. TIC.EXE does not use AI while you play. The procedurally generated boards, runs and the chiptune soundtrack are all produced by hand-written algorithms, and no content is generated at runtime.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with programming, debugging, and development iteration. No generative AI is used during gameplay, no live AI-generated content is produced, and the game does not connect to external AI services during play.
AI was used to create some artwork and assist with text and translations. No AI content is generated during gameplay.
The text in HEATSINK — its interface strings and its translations — was written with the assistance of generative AI. Nothing is generated while you play. There are no AI-generated images or audio in this game, because there are no image or audio files at all: every shape on screen is drawn by code, and every sound is synthesised when the game launches.
Artificial Intelligence was used in the programming process and creation of Steam store assets.
The artwork in the game includes pieces generated by AI.
This game uses some generative artificial intelligence images
Some of Tessera's assets - including monster and character artwork, background art, gem and tile art, certain UI icons, and some audio - were created with the assistance of generative AI tools (Google Gemini) during development. These assets were reviewed, edited, curated, and integrated by the developer. Tessera does NOT generate any AI content live during gameplay; all AI-assisted content is pre-made and fixed in the build.
Since we, as developers, have no artistic design skills, artificial intelligence was used to create this game’s visual elements and music.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with code optimization and UI icon prototyping. All content is safe for all audiences and does not infringe any copyrights.
The music was written with generative AI.
Some character art and store artwork were created with generative AI tools and then human edited and composited. The game contains no AI generated content created at runtime.
As a solo developer AI is helping bring this vision to life by generating some of the visual and audio assets as well as assisting with development.
Generative AI was used only to assist with the localization of in-game text. All AI-assisted translations are manually reviewed and edited by the developer before being included in the game. No generative AI is used to generate content during gameplay.
This game uses generative AI in parts of its development. - Code — an AI coding assistant was used to help write the source code. - Text translation — AI was used to translate the game's text into each supported language. All of the above was reviewed and adjusted by the developer before release. No content is generated by AI while the game is running.
The background, as well as the mesh and base textures for the Matryoshka dolls, were created entirely by hand. Some of the Matryoshka patterns and the fang meshes were generated using AI, then however directed and revised by humans. AI tools were also used to assist with language localization.
Generative AI tools were used during development to create some artwork, music and sound effects, and to prepare store and promotional artwork based on gameplay captures. These assets are prepared in advance. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay or connect to external AI services.
AI has been used to help develop the game's cover art.
We've used AI to translate the game, and also to create some songs. Every Art (3D/2D) was human made.
Generative AI was used to create musical compositions for fictional K-pop groups. All such content was created in advance; the AI does not generate new content during gameplay.
Some of the artwork in Boom Crew was created with the help of generative AI image tools. This covers character and object sprites, ground and paper textures, the game logo, and the capsule art on this store page. Every generated image was directed from hand-drawn mockups, then cut out, corrected and assembled by hand before it shipped. Code, level generation, on-screen text and audio contain no generative AI content, and nothing is generated live while you play.

Vestibule's pixel art was generated with an AI art tool, with every design directed, refined, and hand-edited by the developer. Individual trailer and cinematic clips were generated with an AI video tool, built from the game's own artwork and developer-written scene descriptions — the final edit, scene sequencing, and music timing were done manually by the developer in After Effects. All game design, systems, writing, and code are original work.
Some of this game's content was created with the assistance of generative AI tools and was then reviewed, edited and curated by the developer. This includes a portion of the 3D shoe models (generated with AI 3D tools and hand-adjusted), the game logo and store/marketing artwork (AI image tools), and the translation of interface text into languages other than Turkish and English. No content is generated by AI at runtime and the game does not connect to any AI service.
Some illustrations used in the game and on its Steam store page, including card artwork, interface backgrounds, and promotional materials, were created or enhanced using generative artificial intelligence tools. This content is generated in advance, then selected, edited, and manually integrated by the developer. The game does not use generative AI in real time and does not generate content during gameplay.
AI tools were used to assist with translations for game and store page text.
AI-generated illustrations are used.
Pre-generated AI content: TROPHY FLEET's visual assets and its synthetic character voice performances were produced using AI image and voice generation as a starting point during development. Every generated asset was then selected, chroma-keyed against a solid key background, retouched, resized and hand-aligned by the developer before shipping. Boss artwork is collision-aligned to gameplay: each visible weak point on a boss sprite corresponds to an actual targetable hitbox at that exact position. Source masters and shipped runtime assets are both retained in the project repository. The soundtrack is not AI-generated. It consists of 39 CC0-licensed music tracks, curated per world and normalized to -16 LUFS, with full attribution shipped in the game's THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES file. All game design, code, level authoring, enemy behaviour, boss mechanics and balance systems are the developer's own work. The game generates no content while it is running. It sends no player data or prompts to any AI service or any other service, requires no network connection, and functions fully offline.
Contains code written with AI assistance (like probably every other game out there by now since it's impossible to even use Google without using AI).
Generative AI tools were used throughout development to create all of the game's visual art assets and program code, as well as localization and promotional materials. All outputs were directed, reviewed, edited, tested, and integrated under the developer's supervision. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay or connect to external AI services.
