Public Steam disclosure research 25,508 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some background artwork was created with the assistance of AI image generation tools.
Some of the visual assets in this game (such as concept arts, UI elements, and store capsules) and the initial ideation processes were developed with the assistance of generative AI tools. All AI-generated concepts were manually edited, refined, and integrated into the game by the developer. The game does not contain any live, real-time generative AI systems that react to player interactions.
We used generative AI to help create some level art and 2D visuals. Everything was then tweaked, edited, and put together by us. All gameplay and design decisions are fully human-made.
Smoke Town utilizes artificial intelligence in the following areas: We only use AI-generated content in our game as reference material for backgrounds, which are then refined and reviewed by humans. And also for interface translations. All AI-generated content has been human-reviewed and refined for quality and technical integration.
Generative AI is used to empower non-player characters to make decisions, making the world more alive.
Some in-game artwork and sound effects were created with the assistance of AI tools during development.
Artificial intelligence was used during development to generate some of the game's background music and some decorative environmental elements, such as certain statues and environmental objects. All generated content was reviewed, selected, and integrated manually by the development team. Artificial intelligence is not used during gameplay, nor does it dynamically generate content for players.
Some visual assets in the game and store materials were created or assisted using generative AI tools and have been reviewed, refined, and integrated by the developer.
Generative AI was used exclusively to assist in creating the promotional cover art (capsule images) for the Steam store page. All in-game assets are human-crafted and contain no AI-generated content.
Generative AI was utilized strictly to assist in drafting the narrative script and visuals for our promotional marketing trailers, and for in-game cutscenes. All other actual in-game content—including the gameplay code, 3D models, level design, physics, and mechanics—was meticulously crafted by hand by human developers.
Shatterhold uses AI-generated art for environmental paintings, creature portraits, and music tracks. All gameplay mechanics, code, and game design are human-directed.
Runeveil: Idle PvP uses generative AI tools only during the design phase of 2D pixel art assets (characters, monsters, items, environments and icons). These visuals serve as a working base and are then edited, integrated and manually reviewed by the team before being added to the game. No generative AI is used for the game's code, for generating content in real time during gameplay, nor for the soundtrack, narrative text or translations. All content you see in the game has been checked and assembled by hand.
Haunt & Hide uses generative AI for two pre-production assets that ship in the final game: 1. The game logo was created using ChatGPT / DALL-E image generation tools. It appears in menus, loading screens, and promotional materials. 2. Background music tracks were generated using Producer.ai (a generative AI music tool) and pre-rendered as standard audio files that ship with the game. All other content is human-created: game code (C#/Unity), 3D assets (Synty Studios asset packs used under license), level design, game mechanics, UI layout, voice chat content (player-driven at runtime), and written text. No generative AI is used at runtime — the game does not call any AI services during gameplay. All AI-generated assets were reviewed and integrated by the developer.
During the development of Beyond the Soil: Farming & Tales, generative AI technologies were used to optimize localization texts and assist in the design phase of certain visual marketing materials.
As a solo indie developer working with a limited art budget, I have used generative AI tools for some visual assets, primarily UI artwork. The gameplay systems, mechanics, programming, balancing, and overall game design are created and implemented by me. My long-term goal is to continue improving the game’s artwork and, as the game grows, work with professional artists to replace and further refine AI-assisted visual assets.
This game uses generative AI tools as part of the creative process. Some visual assets and music were created with the assistance of AI and then curated, refined, and integrated by the developer to ensure a consistent style and quality.
3D Models and Graphics were AI generated.
Some of the abnormal phenomena in this game include AI-generated content.
Store page graphical assets (capsule images, achievement icons, app icon) were created using AI-assisted tools. Game soundtrack is procedurally generated in real-time using the Web Audio API. All game code, gameplay systems, dialogue, and lore were written by the developer.
EcoMoguls uses generative AI as part of a small-studio production workflow for some player-facing content, including visual assets, written material, and audio. All final content included in the game and on the store page has been selected, edited, and integrated by the developer to fit the game's design, tone, and educational goals.

Developer’s Note: Due to the challenges of solo game development and being a newcomer to the industry, I utilized AI tools to assist in certain areas of production. This includes specific textures, minor 3D models, and parts of the programming logic. However, all voice acting and musical scores are original works, created as a gesture of support by my close friends.
We used AI to make icons for abilities, and inventory icons. Those icons are being replaced in chunks by our in house artist.
The game does not use AI-generated art, music, character assets, or gameplay content. Generative AI tools were used only to assist with localization drafts for some in-game and store page text, and the final text was reviewed and edited by the developer.
