Public Steam disclosure research25,380 disclosures tracked
Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
We used AI tools for the following elements in the game:
- Translation of the experimental in-game languages
- Some textures (primarily wall pictures and item icons)
- Three sound effects
Why We Used AI:
We are two developers working with limited resources and without external funding or a publisher.
All other assets including 3D models, other textures, sound design, rigging, animations, story, music, and programming, were created by us.
Our goal was to achieve a distinct visual and atmospheric style that avoids both hand-painted aesthetics and asset flipping. Instead, we aimed for a more grounded, realistic look, and selectively used AI tools to support this vision.
Some backgrounds in this game are originally generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and are not based on any existing copyrighted materials.
In the game we harness the power of ChatGPT AI to deliver a unique and dynamic gaming experience. As you navigate through conferences and meetings, the AI generates rich and varied storylines, creating a diverse range of characters and scenarios. Each interaction is influenced by your choices, leading to endless possibilities and a personalized experience every time you play.
We leverage AI technology in certain tasks to achieve higher-quality results. AI is used primarily for handling repetitive tasks or as a tool for quality enhancement, while the core content and final outputs are crafted by skilled professionals."
During the game's development process, AI was used for translating the interface and its content into different languages and for voice-overs in English.
AI was used in the process of creating the images used in the game. Each element generated by the neural network was carefully edited and refined by a 2D artist to ensure high quality content and a unified artistic style of in-game visual materials.
We are employing advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies to generate high-quality JPEG images of various subjects, including human figures and inanimate objects, for the Deep Web websites within our in-game web browser. This innovative approach enhances user experience and enriches the immersive environment of the game.
Throughout the development of our game, we may leverage AI-based tools to assist our team in content creation. Please rest assured that what you see in the game reflects the creativity and hard work of our team. Examples may include pictures and/or posters used in some of our environments.
Please be aware that some of the store images for "Unemployment Simulator," including capsule images, have been created with the assistance of generative AI technology. These images are placeholder assets and may be replaced before the game is available for purchase.
We want to emphasize that generative AI has only been used for creating certain store assets. The game itself does not contain any AI-generated content or use AI technology in its gameplay or mechanics.
Our commitment is to provide an authentic and immersive gaming experience that accurately reflects the challenges of unemployment in a modern setting, crafted entirely by our development team.
The game uses images generated by AI to illustrate the story and offer visual interactions.
The main content of game, the text of the story, is NOT using AI.
Well, just some images for background and characters that produced by artists and AI, were checked by artists and issued as free. So these assets are ok to use.
We used AI for some detail optimization in our artwork, but we guarantee that the majority of the art assets are handcrafted.
We will never use 100% AI-generated artwork for profit. Everything you see has been manually redrawn at least once.
AI was used experimentally to generate reference images that were used in the creation of a various art assets in the game. These AI images do not appear in game and were only used indirectly in the exact same way one might use a photo reference.
Some in-game or store assets might be produced through processes involving the use of AI filters or AI generated elements merged with other sources. Whenever using a generative AI, we exclusively use private models trained with licensed sets of data.
Our game does not contain any content directly generated by AI (AI usage is around 10-20% of the total workload).
Some character art and some scenes were inspired by AI designs.
It's undeniable that AI is an excellent auxiliary tool. Its handling of color, light, and shape is indeed superior to what an artist can achieve on their own. (This is also due to cost considerations. Currently, independent game teams are struggling to survive, and our vision is to continuously produce more high-quality works.)
In terms of character art design, AI's performance in certain aspects surpasses our own capabilities, so we are considering using AI as an aid in the creation of our early works. We hope for your continued support so that we can reduce or even eliminate the use of AI in the future and continue to create more works.
Every character illustration and scene in the game requires a significant amount of time to create and modify
Some of the art materials for this work were created using Stable Diffusion, including but not limited to:
"CG" used in the work;
Partial small elements.
Note: The right to interpret the AI content of this work belongs to the person in charge, Liu, and any consequences of AI painting are borne by the first responsible person, Liu.
MI:ND is a game that could not exist before AI. In every interaction you can say or do whatever you want, and the game will respond with a completely unique interaction and dialogue directly to you.
In the development of our game, we incorporated AI tools to enhance various aspects of the creative process. Our game uses generative models for creating and editing images, sound mixing, and text translation. These AI tools were utilized to improve quality and efficiency, allowing the development team to concentrate on crafting the narrative, gameplay, and overall design. The AI played a supportive role, assisting with technical tasks while the core vision and creative direction were driven by the team.
Some of the images were generated by Midjourney, but were later adapted manually by the game developer; all the background musics were generated by Suno AI.
For the development of The Broken Mirror (Xuru Engine Edition), we have integrated advanced generative AI workflows to enhance the atmospheric Noir experience.
Environment & Visual Arts: Environmental assets and backgrounds have been conceptualized and generated using AI, then manually refined and stylized in high-contrast black and white to achieve a unique 'graphic novel' aesthetic.
Audio Experience: Soundtrack and atmospheric sound effects were developed with AI assistance to create a deep, immersive psychological thriller mood.
Human Oversight: All AI-assisted content has been curated, edited, and directed by our lead developer. The core narrative, character arcs, complex puzzle design, and final assembly are 100% original human creations, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality artistic vision.
Illustrations and UI visual elements were created with the assistance of AI tools and subsequently refined and optimized manually. Portions of the text were developed based on suggestions from Large Language Models (LLMs) and underwent final manual review and stylistic polishing by the developer.
