Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Parts of the trading cards artwork and profile backgrounds artwork were helped or enhanced by artificial intelligence.
My game uses AI quite frequently. Every logo you see is a product of the collaboration between a human and an AI. Every song you hear is a product of human-AI collaboration. Every player report card uses AI generated text modularly pieced together from smaller chunks. The match commentator is using an AI generated voice. This is a modern game that uses modern technology to its full potential.
Some visual assets, such as trading card artwork, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools and then reviewed and finalized by the developer. The AI-generated images were used as a base for the final artwork included in the game’s Steam trading cards.
Some parts of the soundtrack and/or minor voiceline grunts have been created or enhanced by Artificial Intelligence.
AI has been used to generate some sound effects
AI was used for generating of heroes' portraits
Some minor marketing material
Our team uses AI tools to help develop some in-game content.
AI-generated images are used for the backgrounds of the Story Event Phases.
Some of our card art was produced with AI-generated images which our artists painted over and edited before animating the finished card. Some older marketing and website material has been AI-generated as well.
AI tools were used to pre-generate a marching song heard during one of the sequences in late game.
Avatars were generated by AI
Generative AI is used only during development for minor, replaceable elements like textures or icons. All core assets and code base are created entirely by Wargaming’s artists and developers.
Some artworks have been made with the help of the Midjourney AI tool.
Generative AI is used for the English audio narration, loading screens and a small percentage of skill icons.
- Part of the original texts in the briefing were spellchecked, reviewed and slightly improved using AI text tools. Original texts written by the Team. Original research and writing was human-made.
In our game development process, we have adopted AI technology to generate art content, mainly for the character portraits of esports players and illustrations in game events. We hope to provide players with richer and more diverse character portraits, but considering the economic, manpower, and time aspects, we find it difficult to afford a large amount of hand-drawn content. We have tried to separate parts such as the mouth, face, and nose, and then assemble them into 3D characters, but the effect was not satisfactory. Therefore, we decided to try a new method: using AI to generate these contents. We used some of the content we had created before to train the AI model, allowing it to learn and understand the art style and requirements we want. Now, all the AI-generated character portraits and illustrations in the game are made by our trained model, and after completion, we also manually correct them. We deeply understand that AI cannot replace the creativity and uniqueness of real artists. For this, we feel very sorry, but we also promise you that “Esports Godfather” is not a work without sincerity. We have spent a tremendous amount of time polishing innovative gameplay and various experience content. In these four and a half years, we have been committed to completing a work that satisfies everyone. We hope you can understand our decision and continue to support our game. We will continue to work hard to provide you with a better gaming experience.
The game includes AI-generated images.
Generative AI was used in a limited capacity during development to assist with marketing artwork.
Usage of AI-Generated and Assisted Illustrations in Shadow Empire Post-release Illustration Creation Process The developers use Midjourney and Nano Banana to generate high-resolution illustrations for new functionality added post-release, particularly for Vidcom and Stratagem artwork. These images are often post-processed by hand, as well as enhanced using tools like Magnific, Topaz Labs, or other upscaling and refinement software. AI in Post-release Portrait Art Portraits: A base image is generated using Midjourney with a generic prompt such as “portrait of young woman, military.” Smaller parts (eyes, nose, mouth, hair, etc.) are overlaid using DALL·E to create variations. Aging effects are achieved by rendering an older skin texture with partial transparency over the younger base face. The older the character, the more opaque the overlay becomes. (Note: Eyes and lips often retain a youthful appearance.) This effect is gradually applied using a limited number of sprite layers, allowing nuanced visual transitions. AI-Generated Art in Post-release Game Content The game includes AI-generated and AI-assisted illustrations for Vidcoms and Stratagems. All such AI-generated art is pre-generated — no generative AI tools are called or used in real-time by the game itself. The intention is to provide players with an option to toggle between the original and updated AI-enhanced graphics via preferences. (Note: This is an aim and may not yet apply to all content.)
Some steam community/marketing content
AI was used to generate the main store art for the game.
The graphics for the steam community were partially created with the help of AI assistance
No generative AI is used to write content or produce any kind of imagery or assets for the game. For localization, we hire professional translators with AI tools to reduce the workload. Final translations include both machine-translated text that's been human-reviewed and directly human-translated text (e.g. "The megacorps created Cyber Knights as the first quantum-secure data couriers").
Certain ingame background art and advertisements are hand/manually refined Midjourney generations.
We use Gen AI to generate the voice over lines used by our avatars in game.
We use a AI voices for the radio messages, some icons and sound effects.
Pre-generated textures, items and characters images in the game
Our team utilizes AI in a variety of ways to improve the quality of our game. Here are a few examples of how our team incorporates AI into our development process: 1. We use AI to translate dialogue, subtitles, and (more infrequently) music into a variety of different languages spoken by players of our game. This allows more players from different regions to enjoy playing Operation: Harsh Doorstop in their own language, and helps us reach more players throughout the world. 2. We utilize machine learning to help train our NPC bots, giving non-player characters more realistic and adaptive behavior on the battlefield. 3. We utilize AI to assist with finding bugs and other issues in the game, which our developers can then diagnose and fix. We currently work with the RevoltGPT team to help us incorporate AI into our development workflows. If you're interested in learning more, you can visit their website at https://rvt.dev
We are a small indie team and as our game includes close to 200 characters you can interact with, we have used Midjourney to produce their portraits for the Early Access release of the game. Depending on feedback we may revisit this at a later stage.
Some event banners use AI generated images, some dialog uses AI generated content.
