Public Steam disclosure research 25,497 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
We use AI for some code implementation, as well as for minor asset and SFX additions
As a one-person indie dev on a small island, with a clear idea, some programming skillz, minimal artistic talent, and practically zero funding, using AI has helped me actually to finish developing Lightyears of Fervent Warfare. I started developing LoFW during COVID-19, when I began learning game development as a hobby during Seychelles' lockdown. I had coded my MSc project in C# and was able to code everything by hand. I was even able to design the pixel graphics on my own. Then COVID-19 ended, life continued, and LoFW was left in the dust. This year, I experimented with the Cursor and Midjourney AIs and discovered that I could leverage them to continue developing my game part-time. Using Cursor to modify my existing code and generate new code via vibe coding helped me implement features quickly. This gave me the time to focus on the actual game design, the feature set, and testing. And while I still work on most of the pixel graphics by hand, using Midjourney to generate more complex graphics has helped me save time and resources that I don't yet have. Sure, using AI still takes time; I can be pedantic and tend to modify and optimise everything manually. Chastising AIs, reviewing code, and doing manual edits to the graphics are now part of my workflow. AI shenanigans notwithstanding, I do hope that you'll support my game!
AI was used to enhance the cover art and during the iteration phase of designing textures and object details. It provided design ideas but not finished products or assets. There is no AI present in FLH which generates content or produces output of any kind.
Some of the visual assets in The Adventurer’s Trial were initially created with the help of AI tools, and then carefully modified, refined, and integrated by hand to fit the game’s art style. All final in-game content has been reviewed and adjusted by the developer to ensure consistency and quality.
Using AI to generate partial UI and visual assets for games
a few lines of the dialog were generated using AI and is currently used only as a placeholder. the concept of some icons was generated using AI, but they were largely edited.
This game does not use AI-generated content in its final assets.
We used generative AI (Leonardo AI) during the development process solely to generate some of the game’s artwork. These images are static and were created before release. The game does not include any runtime generative AI features, and no new AI-generated content is created during gameplay. All AI-generated assets are licensed for commercial use.
We use AI tools only for marketing concept development and brainstorming. All game content, assets, code, and gameplay systems are created entirely by our human development team. AI helps us explore marketing ideas and generate reference drafts for promotional materials, which are then recreated by our human designers ♥
I used AI as a creative assistant during the development of this game — to generate ideas, speed up workflows, and support visual and textual content creation. Examples include: – Generating concept art for locations, equipment and magical symbols – Creating stylized icons and background illustrations in an anime-fantasy style – Drafting and refining text content (including English descriptions) – Structuring design ideas All in-game assets used in the build (models, animations, UI, gameplay systems) were assembled manually using UE5 and legally sourced content. AI supported the creative process, but did not replace core development work.
Generative AI was utilized during development to create Steam capsule designs, in-game UI assets, and the trailer music. All assets produced using AI are fully owned and licensed for commercial use by us.
AI was used to generate some provisional 2D assets that will be replaced by artwork created by our team as soon as possible.
OxyRail contains a vast amount of content, with over 516 obtainable items currently available and many more planned for future updates. AI-generated content represents only a very small portion of the game. Due to the large number of items, we use AI-assisted tools in the creation of some item icons, certain background music tracks, and a very small number of visual assets to improve consistency and controllability during content production. All AI-assisted content is carefully reviewed, adjusted, and further refined by hand to ensure it meets the artistic and design standards of the game. We will continue to improve the game and gradually replace existing AI-assisted content with manually created assets whenever possible, increasing the proportion of original content over time.
I built Devil's Due as a weekend project, using Claude Opus for coding support and AI for the art assets (since I’m not exactly a 2D artist). I wanted to see if I could create something fun with AI assistance, and I really hope you guys enjoy playing it!
Visuals have been created with the use of AI.
Some voiceovers and select images in this game were created using AI-assisted tools, such as ElevenLabs for voice acting and other image-generation tools during development. All AI-generated content was produced before release and is fully pre-rendered — no generative AI runs in real time during gameplay. All content is fixed in the shipped build and reviewed to comply with copyright and content guidelines.
Visual References
AI was used to help clean up logos and descriptions.
AI might be used to create store and/or library images.
Some 2D artwork on our game is based on AI generation.
Pre-created music with separated tracks created with AI
We have used AI images and videos (backgrounds etc). All voices are NOT ai, code is NOT ai, music is NOT ai. The game does not generate more ai, it is just the video and image assets.
Some in-game illustrations were initially created using AI-generated images to speed up the creative process. These visuals are now progressively being replaced with original artwork by our artists to better match the game’s style. Eventually, all AI-generated images will be removed from the game.
AI was used to assist in the creation some of the store page marketing materials
In Banana of Doom, AI takes the cards you play, pits them against each other, and generates funny, creative text reasons for the outcome then reveals them to the player
Generation of audiovisual resources
I personally feel the final artwork reflects my own creative input as I used original images and applied manual edits without any AI tools during the post-processing phase, however Steam’s requirement is based on the origin of the asset, not the amount of human editing afterward. AI was involved in the initial generation of the capsule art, and other images on the store page. AI is not used for live generation or code during gameplay.
Some images are created using AI.
Certain artworks displayed within some houses were created using AI.
Some audio files used in the game are temporary AI-generated placeholders and will be replaced in the final version.
Images generated using generative AI are used in the game and on the store page.
AI was used in designing the game's logo.
Some graphical assets and sounds were created using generative AI tools during development. These were manually refined to ensure quality and unique identity.

Some of the art is currently generated by AI as I am a solo developer with no experience. All artwork and models will be replaced with authentic ones in the future but for the early development and my lack of skill this was the best option.
This game uses artificial intelligence to generate certain visual assets, such as promotional images and demo artwork. These assets are used solely for prototyping and early-stage presentation purposes. In the future, all visuals will be replaced with hand-drawn illustrations and original artwork created by human artists. No AI is used during gameplay or to generate content in real-time.
Generative AI tools were used to assist in the creation of some in-game art assets, such as icons, textures, and concept art. All AI-assisted assets were reviewed and refined by our team before implementation.
Through the chat system, players can talk and interact with their closest companion pets in real-time. To ensure a safe experience, this pet conversation feature applies both DeepSeek’s filtering system and an in-game keyword moderation system during the content generation process. These safeguards are designed to ensure compliance with Steam’s guidelines—preventing content that promotes hate or discrimination, incites violence, depicts real individuals in explicit ways, or infringes on copyrights.
Some game icons and user interface elements were created using AI image generation tools during development.
Only a presentation and a few minor images under 2 minutes in duration.
Some non-player character voices are generated using AI voice synthesis. This allows for faster iteration and more immersive atmosphere during development. No gameplay, narrative choices, or in-game content are generated by AI.
This game uses generative AI to create some visual assets. Specifically, we used AI generated artwork for certain marketing materials on the Steam store (capsules, headers, and logos), as well as a limited number of in-game illustrative images. All AI generated content has been reviewed, edited, and approved by our team to ensure originality, consistency, and compliance with Steam’s content policies. The gameplay itself, core art assets, and all game systems were created directly by our team.
AI is used as a tool, for coding & store page.
Some promotional images and parts of the in-game text translations were created with the help of AI tools, but all content was reviewed and finalized by the development team.
AI was used for voice and sound effects.
All game code has been written with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools. Additionally, AI-assisted workflows were used in the creation of visual assets for both the in-game content and the Steam store page.
Mini Scouts uses generative AI tools to create certain visual assets, including hero sprites, backgrounds, and select promotional images for the store page. All AI-generated content is pre-rendered, reviewed, and edited by a human being before inclusion in the game or marketing materials. Now, we know that AI art cannot and should not compete with human art. Hence, we'd love to bring aboard interested human artists so we can replace our gen-AI assets with assets made with love by human beings!❤️
AI tools used for language translations. Code and Art may contain <1% AI tools
By building a Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipeline against the included local model LLM, it is possible to generate response statements that better meet user needs.
Some images and icons in the game were generated with AI and post-processed manually. In-game music and voice-overs are AI generated. More details on my use of AI in my devlog: https://lemuria.org/devlogs/ta-07/
