Public Steam disclosure research 25,376 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Generative AI is used as an auxiliary tool for the translation of the store page and the main game (English and Chinese).
This game contains pre-generated AI content and no real-time generated AI content. Relevant information is as follows: Tools used: Midjourney (art), GPT (text); Application scope: Only used for the auxiliary creation of game art assets, story texts, and UI assets. All AI-generated content is used as initial drafts; Manual review: All AI-generated content has been revised, polished, screened, and copyright-verified by a professional team to ensure originality and compliance; Compliance guarantee: Copyright verification of AI-generated content has been completed, with no infringement risks, in compliance with Steam content guidelines and relevant laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Content control: No real-time AI generation function. All in-game displayed content is the final version that has been pre-generated and manually reviewed, without the uncertainty of dynamically generated content.
LLM was used to translate the text into different languages.
Core design elements including units, animations, visual effects and sound effects were all created by real artists. AI tools were used solely for supporting assets like background images, portraits, buttons, and background music. These AI-generated assets were subsequently modified by our team. This approach enabled our three-person team to concentrate on core design and game mechanics.
AI is used to generate some images and voice lines for the game.
Terrors of War is being developed solo on a tight budget. To get the project to its current state I've used generative AI for a handful of placeholder assets: some voice lines, sound effects, UI iconography and the current Steam capsule art. These are all temporary. Every AI-assisted asset is flagged in the project as a placeholder and will be replaced with custom work from freelance artists progressively through Early Access. Wherever possible I use in-game screenshots and footage. What you see represents actual gameplay. No content is generated at runtime. All AI-assisted assets ship pre-generated in the build.
Hero art was generated using ai.
Dear Users, We are committed to maintaining transparency about the development and creative processes behind our app. As part of this commitment, we would like to inform you that some of the artwork featured in our app has been partially generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. What This Means The AI tools we use are employed to assist in creating and enhancing visual elements, such as concept art, textures, and design prototypes. All AI-generated assets are thoroughly reviewed and, in most cases, modified by our team of designers and artists to ensure they align with our creative vision and meet our quality standards. Why We Use AI The integration of AI in our creative workflow allows us to: Experiment with innovative visual styles and ideas. Speed up the iteration process, enabling us to focus more on delivering a polished and engaging experience to you. Expand our ability to create a wide range of high-quality assets efficiently. Commitment to Creativity and Integrity We want to emphasize that the use of AI is just one part of our creative process. The majority of the work is driven by the talent and expertise of our dedicated team of artists and developers. Additionally, we ensure that all AI-generated assets comply with intellectual property guidelines and ethical standards.
I used AI Art for the store page and some of the game assets. I used GitHub CoPilot, ChatGPT and other LLMs for to diagnose code issues.
Generative AI was used to partially create the background images on the marketing assets.. The game itself is hand-crafted, hand-drawn, and animated by a human hand!
Update menu icons has been generated by an AI
We use AI tools to help us improve our audio voices, and some texts. No content is generated solely using AI.
Out of a total of 12 music tracks, 9 were produced using AI. A total of 25 villager profile pictures were generated with AI. All languages except German, French, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Turkish were translated using AI. AI was used in the creation of the Steam capsule logo.
Some translations, voicelines, and assets were made using generative AI. All carefully inspected by the developer. This is used to speed up the development, and is being slowly replaced with artists authored assets. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
AI was used to generate textures and images for the User interface. This includes images for buttons, frames, banners, skill icons and item images.
The graphical elements for the store and the elements for the library in the Steam store were generated by AI.
AI has been used to generate some icons and backgrounds.
Most of the art, backgrounds, characters, and dialogues were generated using different AI technologies and tools.
- Store page images
To enhance the production process and ensure the highest quality of content, our game incorporates images created with the assistance of artificial intelligence. Additionally, we have utilized AI in the editing process of our extensive in-game texts, ensuring linguistic accuracy and the elimination of errors.
This game uses AI assistance to create some of the 2D art assets.
AI helped with store page text, and players may upload mods with AI content.
Some background images in the game have been generated with the help of artificial intelligence.
Artwork for the cards was created using local AI models.
As a solo dev, I use Midjourney to fill in some gaps including upgrade and achievement icons.
Most art in the game is AI generated then edited.
Only the tutorial narration is AI voice generated.
Some background and character art extended and enhanced using Photoshop generative fill. Some audio help narration done using an in-house cloned voice for clarity. Some audio narration done using professionally licensed cloned voice.
As a solo developer, I use AI to brainstorm drafts for some of the 2D assets, which I then edit by hand. These will be replaced with hand-drawn assets by release.
The game uses a mix of hand drawn and AI generated art, most of this then heavily edited by hand.
Voice audio is generated by AI
I have not used AI to generate any graphics, however, I have used ready art assets, which might, or might not have been made using AI. At least Main Menu shows strong signs of having been created with AI. I have used AI to come up with story ideas, and also used it for text. Text used in game is not directly from AI, except for one exception, spell-checking. Process is that I either ask AI some funny ideas, or give him the ideas myself. Then I see what AI comes with, tell it to do again and again and again to come up with better/different versions of some things. In the end I myself write the stuff based upon what AI have given me. As a final step, I put the whole text to AI and tell it to do the spell-check. When AI gives the Spell-checked version of the text, that is only time I am actually copy-pasting AIs whole answer directly. Otherwise the text is a combination of me and AI.
This game includes some AI-assisted visual assets and synthetic voice generation for the in-game robot advisor.
Steam background and capsule image were generated by AI
The game includes enhanced images and generated text-to-speech audio.
All of the art used in Zero Division is commissioned from (human) artists. However, one of the artists uses generative AI tools in the production of the commissioned work.
AI is used to assist the creation of some content in game. Icon art, 2d art, voice lines and music.
AI was used to assist with game localization, and create certain user interface elements.
WUS features ai generated static 2D art
The poetry in Verses of Enchantment is generated using a custom AI model trained on curated public domain texts. All other content (art, sound, dialogues, animation, ...) is created by humans and is attributed to them.
Colonisator has content that partly uses generative AI. This is the case for certain images such as portraits, loading screen wallpapers, management interface backgrounds. There is no live generated content, only prerendered content.
Translations are AI generated. NOTHING else is AI generated!
Full screen pictures where made using AI during the EA / prototype of the game, we are in the process of replacing them all with our artists. Everything else is handmade.
Critias Empire uses images of public domain 18th and 19th century classical oil on canvas paintings, but since there are only a limited number of these, AI generated images are used where no appropriate historical public domain image can be found. This includes backgrounds, illustrations for buildings, features, disasters, maps and characters, plus live ops, events and marketing material. The images are generated using paid subscription to Midjourney. Crystalline Green Ltd. owns the copyright on the generated images. We are a small independent studio with limited budget, but we appreciate not everyone is comfortable with use of AI generated images in commercial games, so we understand if you would prefer not to play our game. Feel free to contact us if you have further questions or concerns.
AI generated images have been used to as a starting point for icons, characters, and elements of some backgrounds. In nearly every case images are then digitally painted over to remove unwanted artifacts and give all the artwork a similar style. Every effort has been made to produce unique content that does not infringe on any copyright.
Some AI-generated images are included
Some game and marketing content was translated with the assistance of AI tools.
Some textures in the game are pre-rendered using AI; No live-generate content during gameplay
AI image generation is used for some content in the game.
