Public Steam disclosure research 25,508 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Artificial Intelligence Tools were used to create the logos and images other than the screenshots on the store page of our game.
To support multiple languages, in-game text and store pages have been translated using AI.
Signal Lost uses generative artificial intelligence for pre-generated voiceover lines only. - The voiceovers are created using ElevenLabs, an AI-based text-to-speech service. - All AI-generated audio is produced before release, reviewed, and edited by the developer to ensure quality, accuracy, and appropriateness. - No content is generated live or dynamically during gameplay. - All other game assets — including art, animations, level design, and code — are created by the developer or sourced from licensed, non-AI stock resources. This ensures full transparency about the use of AI while maintaining complete creative control over the game experience. The AI-generated content is used only to support narrative delivery, maintain consistent tone, and enhance immersion while respecting copyright and ethical guidelines.
Using AI to assist in writing story plots. Using AI to assist in generating art materials.
AI was used for voice acting.
Our team uses generative AI tools to help create visual elements and to assist with character voice acting.
I created the ideas and basic writing for the in-game scenario, but chatGPT provided corrections, feedback, and translation assistance. During the development process, AI-generated technology was used as an aid in the sketch and rough design stages. The generated elements were then finally adjusted and redrawn by the creator, to match the overall expressive style of the work.
Some store and in-game artworks were created using generative AI tools. All assets have been reviewed and edited to meet the game's artistic direction and quality standards.
How We Used AI in When The Sun Dies When developing When The Sun Dies, we leveraged artificial intelligence to enrich your experience and create a truly immersive world. AI is integrated into many different aspects of the game, playing significant roles both visibly and behind the scenes. Areas Where AI Was Used: Visual and Audio Design: We utilized AI-powered tools in the creation of some of the game's textures, 3D models, and sounds. This allowed our artists and sound designers to bring their visions to life more quickly and efficiently, enhancing the unique and unsettling atmosphere of the world. Code Optimization and Development: AI-assisted processes were used in the development and optimization of certain parts of the game's core code. This helped us deliver a more stable, efficient, and seamless gameplay experience. Story and World Building: AI-based suggestion systems contributed to detailing certain elements of our post-apocalyptic world's rich story and lore, as well as refining characters and events. This increased the depth of the world and the layers of narrative waiting to be discovered. Our goal was to use AI as a tool to make When The Sun Dies the best and most unforgettable survival experience possible. We hope you enjoy these innovative approaches!

app icon generated by ai
Some of the in-game menu images were originally AI generated, then modified in illustrator.
Some placeholder visuals include material made with modern content-creation tools and will be replaced upon release of the full version.
Code & Development: AI tools were used to assist in organizing code structure and suggesting specific functions or methods. However, the vast majority of the game’s codebase was manually written and audited by the developer to ensure quality and performance. Text & Marketing: AI was utilized to help draft and refine the text used in the "About This Game" section and the short description on the Steam Store page.
Photoshop with generative fill for logos
Generative AI was utilized during development to create Steam capsule designs, in-game UI assets, and the trailer music. All assets produced using AI are fully owned and licensed for commercial use by us.
AI is used only to proofread subtitles and in-game text. All story, code, and visuals are handcrafted by a human team.
I built Devil's Due as a weekend project, using Claude Opus for coding support and AI for the art assets (since I’m not exactly a 2D artist). I wanted to see if I could create something fun with AI assistance, and I really hope you guys enjoy playing it!
This game is the result of individual development. AI was used as a supportive tool for brainstorming, as well as for experimentation in programming, graphics, and music. No AI-generated content was included in the game without modification: every element was revised, edited, and manually refined for the final version.
AI was used to help clean up logos and descriptions.
I'm using artificial intelligence to generate a voice
AI was used in the development process to create graphics.
All the backgrounds music are made by AI.
Some visual assets, including banners and promotional materials, were created with the assistance of artificial intelligence. All dialogue is generated in real time by artificial intelligence, making each interaction unique and dynamic.

During the development of this game, AI tools were utilized to accelerate the production process and to assist a solo developer in realizing their vision. The use of AI was concentrated in two main areas: Coding and Software Development: This AI language model (Gemini) was used as an assistant for writing, debugging, and refactoring the game's C# scripts for Unity. All code logic, game design, and final architectural decisions were directed by the developer. Code snippets generated by the AI were reviewed and integrated into the project by the developer. 3D Model and Asset Generation: AI-powered image and model generation tools were used to create some of the 3D models and other visual assets in the game. These tools served as a source of inspiration and a starting point to speed up the development workflow. All generated assets were curated, edited, and finalized by the developer to fit the artistic vision of the game. The creative vision, game design, and the final version of the game were shaped entirely by human direction and effort.

I used AI to write me descriptions about my game. I gave it details about my game, and told it to write me a desciprtion.
AI was used to create reference images. One scene features several AI-generated images. All other content was created manually.
The narrator's voice over is AI generated for English language. That's the only thing we used AI for. The rest content of the game is handmade and designed with no help from generative AI.

This game includes some AI-generated assets, but the majority of content was created manually by the development team.
Use of Generative AI Generative AI was used during the development period in a limited capacity, specifically for code generation assistance and for temporary placeholder image (sprite) assets used only during the early development stage and test play. All image (sprite) assets generated by AI at the placeholder stage were used exclusively for testing purposes. These AI-generated assets are not included in the released version of the game that players play. In the released version of the game, all sprites have been completely replaced with assets that are either hand-drawn by the developer or obtained from legitimate asset stores. As a result, players will not encounter any AI-generated image (sprite) assets during gameplay. Even at the provisional stage, great care was taken to avoid any infringement of third-party copyrights. Image generation was strictly limited to generic, non-distinctive materials with no risk of copyright infringement. Examples include the following (note that all such provisional materials are replaced with custom assets or assets from the asset stores in the released version of the game): - Background wallpapers (such as copper, silver, gold, or rainbow-style gradients) - Decorative text elements and font design prototypes - Common, generic pattern materials (such as brick blocks, metal pipes, springs, wooden boards, etc.) By using generative AI in this manner, players benefit primarily in the following ways: - Improved development speed, enabling faster delivery of updates and balance adjustments - Cost efficiencies in development, with savings Lead enhancing the overall game experience and strengthening player support If you have any questions or concerns about AI use please feel free to contact us at the email address below. This game uses artificial intelligence to generate certain visual assets, such as promotional images and demo artwork. These assets are used solely for prototyping and early-stage presentation purposes. In the future, all visuals will be replaced with hand-drawn illustrations and original artwork created by human artists. No AI is used during gameplay or to generate content in real-time.
Some early UI and graphic base elements were prototyped with the assistance of AI tools. All assets used in the final game were reviewed, cleaned, and refined by human artists to ensure originality and quality.
Mainly used AI to generate character portraits, scene concept art, and basic UI elements.
