Public Steam disclosure research 25,394 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
AI was used as a voice changer to alter human voice sound clips, and AI was used to generate several sound effects.
In our game 201: The Bad Number, part of the images, music, and translations were created using generative artificial intelligence.
I used AI images incredibly sparingly; I also modified the original AI image templates to get a desired outcome. The examples are -- the games text logo "Addled Clicker" was original AI before being edited heavily, a single image depicting a lovecraftian blob was used in one of the monster descriptions -- again, heavily edited, and finally in the in-game merchant, the background is a blurred lovecraftian manuscript that was AI generated as well.
In this game you can see few arts generated by AI, in main menu interface. It's contain background, and level icons.
Generated images for some paintings and photographs using AI. Voice acting done using AI.
Some images are generated by AI.
Some 3D content in the game itself is generated by neural radiance fields / photogrammetry. All screenshots on the store page are actual screenshots of the game play.
In AbstractPunk, AI was used for speech synthesis, referencing the earlier Evil Indie Games title, NO THING. AI is used in AbstractPunk to generate character speech and sounds. The collage-style graphics in the game feature AI-generated elements as well as numerous distortions caused by AI.
AI has been used to help develop the game's cover art.
1 Song was generated with AI
only for background of art (images).
Some pre-rendered images were mocked up using AI. Some Voiceovers also were generated using AI.
Some graphical assets for steam page were created with AI
During the development of our game, certain visual, video, and audio assets were created using AI-assisted tools. These technologies supported our creative process—especially in concept design, environmental elements, sound effects, and cinematic transitions. All content has been carefully refined and integrated to ensure it aligns with the overall atmosphere and quality of the game. We use AI technologies with ethical responsibility, always prioritizing originality and excellence.
BGM
We use AI partially, in conjunction with manual training and verification for: 1) Creating dialogues and interesting plots, as well as unusual tasks 2) Generation of art, landscapes and surroundings 3) Generation of marketing materials (memes, images, game icons, UI elements, etc.) 4) Optimizing the game on weak devices 5) Optimization of large game areas
Steam store page capsule art appears is pre-generated AI art.
Player selection screen have an AI generated background image.
The game uses Artificial Intelligence to only generate the main image of the game, that is the logo image, that is shown in the cover of the game, the store pages, and the launch icon.
graphical elements, movie posters etc. Some songs in the radio are AI-generated.
HUMAN FREELANCE ARTISTS designed the locations and the characters' original looks. Proofs https://five-mysterious-murders.com/artwork/2.jpg https://five-mysterious-murders.com/artwork/1.jpg However, I enriched some artwork using AI to make the game look more diverse. Voice acting was done entirely by AI. I will replace everything made by AI as soon as I have a bit of money. If this doesn't work for you, please don't buy the game. Yours, Silencer
Our advanced AI enables lifelike conversations, merchant negotiations, and AI-generated quests tailored to your playstyle. Soon, AI Player Companions will join you on your quests, assist with tasks, and even help while you’re AFK. These AI Companions will grow alongside you, feeling more like friends than game characters, making every adventure deeply personal and immersive.
AI tools were used to help create some in game assets. In all such cases, the final product reflects our team’s craft and creative vision.
AI-generated artwork was used during early development, primarily as temporary material while testing and building the game. Much of this artwork has already been replaced, both in the game and on the Steam page, with original work created by commissioned artists and by me. I will continue replacing remaining assets where bespoke artwork meaningfully improves the game, with a strong focus on ensuring that its characters, environments, key visuals, and overall artistic identity are shaped by original artist-created work.
I've used AI for two things: to improve some texts that rely heavily on narration, like those you find in the Challenge mode; and also to improve the French translation. Everything else has been designed by a standard human brain!
The Jigsaw puzzle images were generated using AI. The store page artwork includes modified versions of AI generated artwork.
In the game's marketing materials, artificial intelligence was used as a visual component.
As a Solo Developer, AI was used mostly for things that would otherwise take too much time or finance, such as: Voice Lines, SFX, and custom Images. AI type used: Voice Changers, Image Generators, and Audio Generators.
During the development process, I may utilize procedural and AI-based tools to assist in the creation of certain content, including voiceover audio. In all cases, these tools are used as part of the creative process, and the final product reflects my artistic vision and expression as the developer. For example, I may use voice-changer tools or AI-assisted generation to create the voices of characters during in-game dialogues and cutscenes.
Capsule images and library images contain AI artwork
We used AI to partially improve the draft artwork.
Some use of AI to generate background music, text or other artwork that is then heavily edited and vetted and appears in the game seamlessly with the large amount of hand-made artwork, to help fill gaps in a small low-budget production and enhance the overall experience.
For the demo of Rise of the Vanguard, we have used AI generation primarily to create temporary character voices. This decision was made due to the realities of being a single-developer studio with no funding or external support, and these AI-generated voices are intended only as a stopgap until we can secure funding and hire dedicated professional voice actors. Beyond this, our use of AI has been limited to standard development tooling, such as IDE line-completion features and AI-assisted debugging, which are customary in modern software development. We do not use AI for narrative design, worldbuilding, or core creative direction, and we strongly support creative professionals and the long-term importance of human-created art and performances.
We only used AI to expand our artworks.
AI was used for the Store page; the in-game content does not contain any AI-generated elements.
In-game text creation and translation: AI is used to create and translate text within the game as well as for the store page. Program code generation: AI is utilized to create and optimize program code for implementing game features and systems.
The game features images generated in advance by artificial intelligence for metro advertising banners.
AI was used for voice acting.
In the early stage of game design, AI tools are used to generate the first draft of the picture (such as scene composition, character outline, etc.), which is only used for internal creative reference. All the pictures used in the later stage are hand-painted by professional painters. In the end, there is no visual material generated by AI in the game.
Some images were made using AI
AI-generated images are used for cutscenes and items in the game
The development team used AI-based tools to assist in the creation of character avatar videos and a handful of UI images.
All the collectables for the game, the ducks, and some elements of the game are created using generative AI.
AI has been used to help develop the game's cover art.
IA has been used for the creation of models.
Some images were created by AI
AI was used exclusively for generating images of people in order to avoid using real individuals.
Voice over
The store capsule image for this game was created with the assistance of generative AI tools. This asset was pre-rendered during the development process and is static. No AI-generated content is used during live gameplay. All gameplay mechanics, story, and player interactions are hand-crafted by the development team. The AI tools used for the capsule image are commercially licensed, ensuring compliance with the platform's terms of service and intellectual property guidelines.
The generative artificial intelligence is used for some of the marketing materials and in-game voice lines.
