Public Steam disclosure research 25,380 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
We used AI for coding assistance
Prime Protocol used generative AI tools during development to assist with drafting and iterating on code and to create some pre-rendered marketing imagery. All content is reviewed and integrated by the developer. No generative AI is used during gameplay; the game does not live-generate text, images, audio, or code, and players cannot input prompts.
Some visual assets on the store page and parts of the in-game art were created with the assistance of generative AI tools and then curated, edited, and integrated by the developer (Cag). Portions of the store page text and the game’s music were created with the assistance of generative AI tools.
AI tools were utilized to assist with coding, text generation, and creating some graphical assets.
This game has AI generated music.
In-game assets were generated using generative AI and then retouched for final use.
We use AI for dev placeholders. UI Icons for now.
Some 2D art and sound effects were created using limited AI-assisted drafts, then fully hand-edited and finalized by our art team. No AI runs during gameplay, and players do not generate or interact with AI content.
AI was used to help with coding and creating concept art.
The game does not generate content at runtime using AI. Generative AI tools were used only during development to assist with the creation of visual assets. All AI-assisted assets were reviewed, edited, and finalized by the development team to ensure originality and compliance with copyright laws. Players cannot generate or upload AI-generated content within the game.
Generative AI is used only for 2D marketing assets, icons and loading screens.
The translations in this game (excluding English and Polish) were prepared with the assistance of artificial intelligence. Each text has been verified and edited by the developer.
I created achievement logos with AI and store logos with Ai, all in game images are created with actual game play and does not use Ai, game privacy and manual were formatted and verified using Ai.
Some of the game's visual assets and parts of the soundtrack were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. These AI-generated outputs were then manually edited, curated, and refined by the developers before being included in the game. All AI-assisted content is pre-generated; no live-generated AI content is used during gameplay.
Some example art. May not be used in final version.
AI in combination with image-editing software was used to produce the visual assets for the game.
Some of the artworks are refined through an AI-assisted process
This game uses some pre-rendered UI icons and promotional images created with generative AI tools. No AI is used during gameplay. All in-game content is static and pre-made, with no real-time generation.
Aroya Knight is developed in Godot with a focus on precision and hand-crafted systems. While generative AI assisted in the early conceptual stages of asset creation, every asset has been manually crafted to ensure a cohesive aesthetic. Most importantly, all code is hand-written—including the 3,000+ line player controller—to guarantee the tight, responsive gameplay essential for a high-stakes Metroidvania.
I used AI to localize my game. No art, no sounds, no code was generated using AI
This game uses AI-assisted images, text, and code created during development; all content was reviewed and edited by the developer, and no AI content is generated during gameplay.
AI was used to generate the characters, backgrounds, and some of the game’s details, which I further refined myself, as well as for gif animation.
This game uses generative AI tools for pre-rendered content only. Music was generated using Suno, and some system text and dialogues were created with assistance from GPT-based models. No live generation or AI content creation occurs during gameplay.
This game uses AI for localization into foreign languages.
AI is used for cinematic cutscenes and certain art assets, but the majority of the work is done manually. Similarly, code workflows include partial generation for certain C++, C#, and HLSL functions.
To keep this project viable without selling a kidney, generative AI was used to assist with Tablo Escobar's motivational dialogues and localization. However, I didn’t make AI slop... I manually reviewed and edited every line to make sure the robots didn't accidentally declare war on the player.
Visuals: Some UI elements utilize materials based on AI-generated content that have been processed and edited. All primary artwork is handcrafted. Audio: AI was utilized and adjusted to align with the game’s unique world and atmosphere. Translation: AI was used to create the initial draft for the English localization, which was then manually reviewed and refined by the developer.
Various AI code edits for simple functions and easier testing. Some music and sound effects. No art.
“Some promotional images include AI-assisted lighting, glow and post-processing.”
AI was used in music and coding assistance and marketing text. No art, character design or animation was assisted by AI.
The story, narrative, and core implementation are entirely human-made. AI tools were used for supporting elements in voice acting (ElevenLabs), imagery, music production, and video. Less than 15% of videographic content used AI generation (primarily edited in Canva and Filmora). Our two-person team meticulously guided and refined all AI-assisted content, spending hours to meet specific narrative and quality requirements. We specifically chose ElevenLabs as they contribute directly to Voice Actors through royalties and licensing deals. Special thanks to the Pixabay community for providing the high-quality audio alternatives used when the GenAI Content toggle is inactive.
The game uses some AI-generated text to enhance immersion through short form responsive NPC dialogue and procedurally described events. Each character’s dialogue is contextually grounded in their role, knowledge, and surroundings, keeping interactions cohesive and authentic. Generative AI is NOT used for world narrative writing, lore, game logic, audio, images, or calculating outcomes of any kind. AI systems ensure every player’s experience feels distinct while remaining true to the game’s established lore and tone. This feature is experimental, and is not part of the core game.
The developer utilized AI image generation tools to assist in the creation of specific static visual assets where professional human artist craft was not financially viable for a solo project. These assets include the store capsule art, menu background textures, and narrative event illustrations. All AI generated output was heavily curated, edited, and painfully amended by the developer to ensure consistency with the game's 1970s pulp fantasy aesthetic and pixel-art gameplay. No AI is used to generate content live during gameplay.
Small animation for some of the background elements in the game.
AI-generated content has been used very little in the game: text correction and translation for the Steam page and in-game text. UI generation, which will likely be replaced later with non-AI-created assets. Occasional code corrections, but 90% of the code was written by myself.
Some voice lines in this game were generated using AI voice synthesis technology. These AI-generated voices are used to represent in-game characters and narrative dialogue. All generated audio was reviewed, edited, and approved by the development team to ensure it meets quality and content standards.
The game was conceived with the help of ChatGPT, partially built with Perplexity, and programmed using Claude Sonnet 4 and Gemini Pro. In short, they all made it together — from the story and challenges to the localization and everything in between. I personally tested it thoroughly (and trust me, it’s super hard!).
The battle backgrounds are AI generated
The music was generated with AI. The character animations were created by AI based on hand-drawn pixel art. Localization translation was done with AI help.
Announce trailer parts were generated by AI. There are no AI elements in gameplay.
AI was used to generate translations for the store page and in-game text.
AI is used exclusively for creating musical content.
Only for the Steam page description.
Generative AI was used solely for localization, including the translation of in-game text into multiple languages.
Generative AI was used when translating the original Korean text into other languages.
AI was used initially to prototype a design of the logo for the 1st game Astro Fighters. This design has been manually adjusted from the AI concept and now forms a part of the Astro Fighters and Astro Fighters 2 logo designs.
Use of AI for creating the base of sprites and soundtrack.
Generated 3 textures for the level "Grey Spectrum".
AI has been initially used to generate in-game characters' portraits (pre-rendered); those portraits were then manually processed by artists.
This game uses pre-generated AI art. All in-game elements—including illustrations, backgrounds, and bosses—were created with generative tools and then edited and refined by the developer. The only exceptions are a few assets.
