At Lovely Bytes, we're not just developers, we're passionate gamers like you. And because we understand the gamer's perspective, we firmly believe that the heart of a truly great game lies in the emotional depth and authenticity that only human creativity can provide. In the development of UNHEIM, artificial intelligence plays a supporting role to accelerate our production, and is used mindfully to help us with certain time-consuming tasks, such as visual brainstorming, or speeding up the process of creating some of the textures. Additionally, AI bravely tackles the Herculean task of turning our chaotic creative thoughts and wild brainstorming scribbles into something resembling coherent, actionable documents. Our approach to AI is to use it as a tool to augment our skills and capabilities, not to substitute the craft elements that are crucial for creating a deeply engaging and memorable game experience. Now go and have fun getting scared to death, knowing that what you experience is the result of a mindful blend of assistive technology and traditional craftsmanship.

This game features AI-generated content to enhance the experience. AI is used to assist in creating in-game images, text, music, and sound effects, helping to shape the atmospheric world. Every AI-generated asset is carefully curated and refined to fit the game's style, ensuring a high-quality and cohesive experience.
AI Integration in Our Game Our game incorporates generative artificial intelligence specifically for creating background music and enhancing visual elements. Here's an overview of how AI is utilized: AI-Generated Background Music: The background music in our game is generated using SUNO, a state-of-the-art AI music generation tool. This allows us to provide a unique and immersive auditory experience for players, ensuring that the music dynamically adapts to the gameplay and enhances the overall atmosphere. AI-Generated Gun Icons: In addition to music, we have also utilized ChatGPT to generate a few gun icons, which were then further refined and customized. This combination of AI generation and human touch ensures that our visual assets are both innovative and meticulously crafted.
A small number of textures were created using AI, and then manually processed to match the game's visual style.
We use DALL E 2 in our project to generate item icons. DALL E 2 is not subject to copyright.

AI tools have been used to assist in crafting unique pre-rendered assets, such as artwork and animations, ensuring a high-quality experience while adhering to copyright and ethical guidelines. However, the game does not use AI to generate live content or code during gameplay. All in-game interactions and mechanics are pre-designed and curated by our team, ensuring a consistent and controlled gaming experience. By incorporating AI responsibly, we aim to deliver a creative and engaging experience while maintaining transparency and safeguarding user trust.

This AI integration not only enhances the realism of the city environment but also ensures that no two playthroughs are the same, providing a fresh challenge every time.
The Dark Cowboy is a solo-developed project created over several years in Unreal Engine. To achieve a cinematic experience as a single creator, AI tools were integrated into the production workflow in a few specific areas. Cinematics & Visuals Generative AI tools assisted in creating visual material for cinematic sequences, as well as static artwork for loading screens and promotional imagery. Audio & Voice Performances Character dialogue is performed using voice models derived from licensed human voice performances, alongside select atmospheric tracks to enhance the game’s immersive soundscape. Writing & Localization Language models assisted with editorial review of scripts and helped produce translations across the game's 14 supported languages. All such elements were carefully directed, manually refined, and integrated by the developer to ensure they fully support the atmosphere and storytelling of The Dark Cowboy.
