Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
– Some textures in the game were initially AI-generated and then significantly refined by hand in a graphics editor.
– Certain 3D assets began as AI-generated concepts but were readjusted or fully reworked in a 3D modeling tool to fit the game’s aesthetic.
– The promotional artwork on this Steam page was AI-assisted and then heavily edited to match the game’s visual identity.
The translations into Simplified Chinese were done using AI, as were some of the store images. The game itself does not include AI-generated content beyond the translations mentioned above.
We use AI tools as a support system for our small development team to enhance the quality and balance of the game. Specifically:
Balancing & Math: We use AI to help calculate and balance the game ecosystem (drop rates, damage scaling, and economy).
Concepting: AI is used to generate reference images and mood boards to inspire our artists. The final in-game visual assets are hand-crafted or manually refined based on these concepts.
Drafting: AI assists in drafting initial marketing copy and lore structures, which are then finalized by our writers.
During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team.
This product uses AI-generated content in a limited capacity.
AI-generated images were used for locked achievement icons.
AI-generated audio was partially used for character sound elements.
All AI-generated assets were reviewed and integrated by the development team.
The 3D models are standard purchased assets (e.g., Synty Studios) and are NOT AI-generated.
Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) were used to assist in writing parts of the game code during development.
The background music tracks and sound effects were created using generative AI tools.
Additionally, some marketing materials on the Store Page (such as the logo and capsule artwork) were created using generative AI tools.
Some visual assets in this project were created or assisted using artificial intelligence tools, including pre-rendered backgrounds, character illustrations, and interface textures. All content has been carefully reviewed and manually refined to ensure consistency with the game's visual style.
AI tools were used to assist in the programming and scripting phases of development. The AI acted as a coding companion to help optimize game logic, debug scripts, and implement standard architectural patterns. All AI-generated code has been manually reviewed, tested, and modified by the developer to ensure quality and functionality..Additionally, some static 2D assets (such as UI icons or talent card illustrations) were created using AI generation tools and then manually edited for artistic consistency
This game features music from a variety of genres where the lyrics describe the anatomy of the hand and the biomechanics of posture. These songs were performed with the help of generative AI, and the album art for these songs was also created with the help of generative AI.
Generative AI tools were used during the development process to assist with the creation of visual assets and certain supporting materials.
All visual, audio, and text content included in the final game has been reviewed, edited, and manually integrated by the developer.
The game does not use any generative AI systems to create content in real time during gameplay. All content complies with Steam store policies and applicable copyright guidelines.
I used BEZI and AI to help write scripts because im literally only one person and it would take 15 years and potentially cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to create this if i didnt have AI assistants.
See the description for an extended discussion about the tools used to produce this game.
AI use in this game includes Claude and Claude Code for assisting with implementing complex systems and bug fixing. The codex's image-examination assets are pre-rendered during development: in-game screenshots are composited via ChatGPT and then some are stylistically processed by a model running locally on my laptop. I experimented a bit with Adobe Podcast to make recordings on my not-very-good mic sound a little better but I wasn't so impressed with the results so I don't think much of this made it in. Most sound effects were found in online libraries but in some cases they were generated using ElevenLabs and other sound generation models when suitable alternatives could not be found. Some 3D models and textures were created using Meshy. Text was checked for spelling and grammar with Grammarly and Claude.
Some artwork used on the Steam store page and marketing materials for this game was created with the assistance of generative AI tools. The game itself does not contain any AI-generated or AI-driven content.
We have utilized generative AI tools during the development process to assist in the creation of various 2D and 3D assets. This includes certain environmental textures, 2D UI elements, and some base 3D models. All AI-generated content has been manually reviewed, edited, and refined by our team to ensure quality and originality. These assets are pre-generated and are not created in real-time during gameplay.
AI tools were used during development for coding assistance (Kiro AI). Store artwork and marketing images were created using Leonardo.ai. Achievement icons were created using PixelLab. No AI content is generated during gameplay - all in-game assets are static and pre-made.
The development of The Utopian Project makes limited use of AI-assisted tools during early production, primarily for concept exploration and background asset iteration. All final content is curated, reviewed, and integrated by the development team.
Generative AI was used only to create background images for marketing materials. No AI-generated content is used in gameplay, game assets, or in-game systems.
