Generative AI tools were used in the creation of player-facing audio and visual assets in this game. This includes AI-assisted music generation and AI-assisted image/animation processing used for in-game materials. The game does not generate content live during play.
AI tools have been used to help generate the store graphics, which were then edited for final use. No AI tools have been used for any game content. All art in the game is self-made.
I’m a solo dev running a creative experiment: every texture, model, sound, music loop and even code started life in generative AI tools that I run locally, before the build ships. No marketplace packs, no outsourcing. Nothing is generated while you play and the game never sends data outside your PC. Crimson System is my proof-of-concept for how far one person (plus a few neural nets) can push a retro FPS.
AI was used to create a reference base, enhance images, and generate some individual elements and objects. All outputs were then manually refined and polished by artists. The game also includes AI-generated video content; however, all characters depicted are unique and have been fully hand-polished by the artist to ensure originality and quality.
Some of the game's and store's visual content was initially created using AI, with significant rework and editing by myself. This content is intended to be replaced in future versions once there's a budget for a professional illustrator.
-AI was used on the game page to create animations in the trailer (character movements) and to edit images for news about the game.
-AI was used in the game for one image; to insert text into the game script; to check the grammar in scripts.
Game art assets are generated using AI tools to create initial concept art, which is then manually adjusted and modified by artists. The final works combine AI-generated foundational designs with human artistic revisions.
Some dynamic art assets are assisted in their creation by AI tools.
We are a small team, and used some AI-tools to help bring our vision to life. Specifically, backgrounds, characters and costumes of the vampire's helpers were AI-rendered. The rest of the content is 100% human-made, including the story, audio, the 3D models and the full vampire village.
We used generative artificial intelligence to localize the game into 11 languages and refine and improve the game's texts and dialogues, ensuring better fluidity and quality of the narrative for players.
I used AI in the following way:
- creating the voices of Ben and Jane
- creating a base for further processing and overpainting (images in the intro scene)
