Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
In the process of creating some 2D prop assets, generative AI technology was used in an assistive capacity. Any such assets are subject to our production pipeline, where they will be reviewed and replaced by our art and development teams to ensure they meet our quality standards and creative direction.
Era Echo is developed by a solo developer. Generative AI tools are used to assist with development and production (for example concepting, drafts, and iteration), which has helped make shipping a solo project practical. All shipped content is reviewed and directed by the developer.
AI was used to assist with artwork as I am a solo dev with a very limited budget, however all final assets integrated into the game were manually refined and processed. All instances of AI will be removed as sales open up
Generative AI was used for some store pageimages, store page localization and translation, as well as some in-game art assets, localization, translation, and music.
I've been using Generative AI tools as part of development for things like programming assistance, troubleshooting, research, brainstorming, and some concept exploration.
ECHO//syntax is a work of mechanics made from love of the beat-em-up genre from CHROMAGEM. It is designed, directed, assembled, tested, and curated by me. I make the first and final decisions on the game's mechanics, characters, levels, visual direction, and overall design.
As a designer that's looking to get a particular feel and experience with this game, I'm looking through and making sure you're getting a good game to play and enjoy.
Deepworks was made with the help of AI tools. Some of the game's art and audio were generated with AI and then reviewed and edited by the developer, and AI assisted with writing code. Nothing in the game is generated by AI while you play.
I'm an indie dev with a day job. Using AI made building this game possible. I built this game for the fun of it and have no interest in paying thousands or even hundreds of dollars to artists for a little side hobby.
This game uses generative AI in the following ways:
Music — tracks were built from AI-generated material, then edited and arranged by hand.
Title artwork — an AI-generated rough was used as reference and redrawn by hand as pixel art.
English localization — the English text was machine-translated and then reviewed and corrected by the developer.
Code — parts of the game's code were written with AI assistance.
Everything else is made by the developer by hand: all 145 in-game icons, every UI image, the cigarette package illustrations, and the achievement icons.
CyberSprawl: Survivors contains pre-generated visual art, written content, sound effects, and other assets created or assisted with generative AI tools, then curated and integrated by the development team. Generative AI also assists development, including code. No AI generates content during gameplay, and the game does not connect to external AI services while you play.
Vestibule's pixel art was generated with an AI art tool, with every design directed, refined, and hand-edited by the developer. Individual trailer and cinematic clips were generated with an AI video tool, built from the game's own artwork and developer-written scene descriptions — the final edit, scene sequencing, and music timing were done manually by the developer in After Effects. All game design, systems, writing, and code are original work.
Generative AI was used to help draft some in-game text and Steam store / marketing copy. Selected upgrade card icons were purchased as AI-generated assets and then manually edited. All AI-assisted content is reviewed by the developer before shipping.
AI was used to assist with localization of the game's store page into additional languages as a placeholder until I am able to hire a localization team. All localized text was reviewed and edited before publication.
The English and Turkish text in Slots & Skulls is written entirely by the developer. Gen AI was used only to translate in game and store text into the game's other supported languages.
No AI tools were used to create any visual or audio asset: all art, animation, UI, music and sound effects are made by hand or licensed from human creators.
The key art was developed by hand by our art team but some AI generated content may have been included via store asses. A coding agent was used to help write features.
I (Sean) use AI coding assistants: GitHub Copilot and Claude Code. I've written software for years and I teach games programming at university, and I use AI tools the way I use a profiler or a compiler. They helped build web tools Dave and I use to balance the ecosystem across long simulations, they're very good at finding edge-case bugs (I'm looking at you, pathing system), and they write the boilerplate for things like save states and UI. I never ship code I haven't read and thoroughly tested.
No content in this game is AI-generated, and no generative AI runs while you play.
Every sound, art and music asset in this game was made by a human. The game started out as the idea of “Asset Safari” around the concept of buying sprite packs from artists, which is what we have done. The music, sound and writing is also all human generated.
I use Bezi, an AI coding tool for Unity to help develop some of the more complicated algorithms used in pathfinding and enemy AI. I review all generated code used in the game and make modifications when necessary.
Pre-generated AI artwork was used for characters, enemies, bosses, environments, interface icons, and store and promotional artwork. These assets were selected, edited, and integrated during development. The game does not generate AI content during play or connect to external AI services.
Some marketing artwork for the store page (the capsule's sky, city backdrop, rain and lettering layers) was produced with generative image tools (OpenAI image generation, Google Gemini) and then composited and edited by hand. A few placeholder textures currently in the build (the city seen through the office window and its signs, and the sample sheets in the customization menu) were AI-generated and are scheduled to be replaced with licensed or hand-made art before release. AI coding and writing assistants were used during development for parts of the source code, documentation and drafts of store text; all game rules, design decisions and final art direction are the developer's own. The game does not generate content with AI at runtime.
The coding process used artificial intelligence, to allow the creator to focus on the creative aspects of game development. All art, story, mechanics, balancing, and creative direction is human-made.
This game uses assets created with the help of generative AI. The generated material was selected and edited by the developer before being included in the game.
Generative AI was used during development to assist in creating some pre-generated 2D artwork, including backgrounds, characters, fish/creatures, logos, and some marketing artwork. Generated assets were reviewed, selected, edited, and integrated by the developer. The game does not use generative AI to create content during gameplay.
Pre-generated content only. No AI runs while the game is played.
Some monster and boss sprites were generated with PixelLab (an AI pixel-art tool) and then hand-edited, cut into animation strips and cleaned up by the developer. A few background art pieces, such as arcade machine sheets and map-card thumbnails, were generated with Google Gemini and then reworked by hand. The music soundtrack was generated with Suno on a paid licence. Some store page art may be based on these assets.
All gameplay code, the level design, the rest of the sprite art, UI, sound effects and all text were made by the developer without generative AI. The game does not generate any content at runtime.
Some of this game's written text, including this store page and some in-game descriptions, was drafted with the help of an AI assistant and then edited by hand. The rest is not AI-generated: the pixel art is hand-drawn or from licensed asset packs, the audio comes from a licensed sound pack, and every screenshot and capsule image is composed from real in-game captures. Nothing is generated while you play.
Grimhold's artwork is created by commissioned human artists, and its music is human-made licensed audio. Generative AI tools were used to assist in writing portions of the game's descriptive text and creature lore. All gameplay, code, and design are human-made. The game does not generate any AI content during play and does not connect to external AI services.
I use generative AI for some of the game’s visual assets, mainly things like ability icons, and for some of the promotional images on the Steam store page. I review and choose what actually gets used in the game. Nothing is generated by AI while the game is running.
Development used generative AI tools to create pre-generated visual assets: seven battlefield and escalation backgrounds, twenty-six combat-art atlases, and one progression-card atlas (34 bitmap files total). AI tools also helped translate the store page and in-game text from the original, manually written English into eight languages. All generated content is pre-generated and curated; the game does not generate content while running. No third-party logos, characters, or source art were used as image-generation references.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with drafting and refining some localization text and selected promotional artwork. All AI-assisted material is pre-generated, reviewed, and edited by the developer before inclusion. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services.
Most of battle sounds come are authored but some voiceover is AI. I will provide option to disable all AI voices.
If game budged grows i will reinvest it to get it replaced and sounds recorded by actual people.
Some of the original art in this game (the bonus cards, bomb card, curse card, crimson paulownia card, soiled card back, pixel card back, two reward chest frames, and combination popup frame) was created using AI-assisted procedural generation scripts. The store capsules, icon, and trailer are derived from this in-game art and are therefore covered by this disclosure.
All supported languages other than Korean (including English) were translated using AI translation tools, then checked through machine back-translation and additional review.
Generative AI assisted with selected static UI artwork, icons, promotional illustrations, text and localization during development. The game does not generate AI content or connect to generative AI services during play. Gameplay screenshots show actual in-game rendering.
Some of the artwork in this game was created with the help of generative AI during development. Every asset was reviewed, edited and approved by hand before shipping. Nothing is generated at runtime, and no player data is sent to any AI service. The computer opponents in the game use traditional rule-based decision logic and are unrelated to generative AI.
This game's art and code are creatively directed by a human developer (me), directing, refining, reviewing, and quality-checking every part across hundreds of hours of iteration. I build it with Claude AI as my tool. The visuals are not pre-made image files or AI-generated images. They are drawn by code at runtime (procedural rendering) using standard 2D canvas drawing commands, and Claude AI writes and brings that code to life. The store page and marketing images come from that same in-game rendering. The game does not include third-party copyrighted material.
Setlist Shuffle ships two categories of pre-generated, player-facing AI content. They are the card illustrations and the genre music tracks.
Both sets were reviewed and hand-selected before release and ship as fixed assets. No content is generated live during play, and the game contains no AI-driven chat or dialogue.
Everything else is not AI-generated: the achievement icons are hand-drawn vectors, and all game text, design and simulation logic are the developer's own.
Some 2D art in this game was created with the assistance of AI image generation tools and then curated, pixel-processed and hand-corrected by the developer: backgrounds, story cutscene illustrations, card art, the title logo, and the Steam store assets. All game design, systems, balance, code and the original Korean script were written by the developer. The nine non-Korean localizations were produced with AI translation assistance and then reviewed and corrected in-game. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play, and it never connects to an AI service.
Some pre-rendered 2D art (monster sprites, character illustrations) was first generated with AI image tools and then hand-edited and pixel-cleaned by the developer. Parts of the in-game text and its EN/RU/JA localization were drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer. No content is generated by AI while the game runs. Game design, systems and code are human-authored.
