Public Steam disclosure research25,376 disclosures tracked
Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
AI tools were used in the production process of some graphical assets. In these cases AI is mainly used as a middleman to add detail between first drafts and final product.
AI was used to assist with minor code segments and some dialogue lines.
Generative AI is used for translations into languages I do not master and to create early 3D model prototypes. These prototypes are manually refined before being integrated into the game. No generative AI is used during gameplay or to dynamically generate in-game content.
We have used AI-generated content for player-selectable BGM and cover images in the game lobby, as well as voice-overs. Among these, all voice-overs have been completely replaced with professional voice actors' recordings in time for the Early Access release. We are currently conducting an internal investigation regarding unconfirmed content, and all confirmed AI-generated assets will be replaced with human-created assets by the official 1.0 release.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with early concept art exploration, general coding support, and the creation of background music (BGM).
All in-game assets, gameplay systems, level design, and final implementation are fully handcrafted and curated by the developer. No AI-generated content is created dynamically during gameplay.
DarkSwarm is built by hand, by talented individuals — but we may have used generative AI, among other tools, to visualize ideas during the concept phase, helping us deliver the best possible game experience.
In that sense, it has supported the creation of certain environmental assets, images, and props. It's one of many tools in our creative toolbox and is always used alongside handcrafted work.
All of the art used in Zero Division is commissioned from (human) artists. However, one of the artists uses generative AI tools in the production of the commissioned work.
The Steam capsule artwork relies on AI-generated character visuals, further refined through manual editing.
The "Suspicious Accident" puzzles use AI-generated artwork for scene elements, arranged and edited manually for the final compositions.
A.I. upscaling is used to generate high resolution textures where only low resolution images exist. e.g. low resolution satellite terrain.
Text-to-speech tools are utlised to provide radio communications during Early Access development.
Some original music tracks have been enhanced using A.I. tools such as mastering, stem splitting, extension and variation creation.
In all cases the original track's copyright is fully owned by JimmyArcade Ltd.
Localisation Text for certain language options in the game were generated using the shear power of AI models to produce, no doubt, horrible/humourous/confusing results.
This is Temporary!, with updates coming in the future, If anyone wishes to provide translations/corrections, please do get in contact :)
As a solo dev, I use custom-trained AI tools for a small portion of the visuals/audio, based on assets I own or created. The vast majority of my development effort goes into the realistic rocket simulation and engineering systems.
A majority of the static image content, the character portrait animations in the Character Select screen, and some flavor text on playable cards, had AI play a role in their development.
Some notable exceptions to this are:
The card frame artwork for all cards, which were created by a contracted artist.
Our capsule and header images, which were created by a contracted artist.
Some enemy portraits.
Marketing materials which include artwork from the capsule and header.
All narrative and dialogue text, which was written by the team.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the select family and friends who volunteered their likenesses for use as models for some of our main characters. It is deeply appreciated and we enjoyed working with you.
Generative AI has been used during the creation of some assets both visual and audio. Namely the main capsule, the loading screens, the rally icons of the countries as well as the voice of the Co-Driver.
Some visual and written elements—such as portraits, item icons, and quest text—were created or enhanced with the help of AI tools. These were based on original hand-drawn assets and carefully refined to match the game's overall style. The majority of in-game visuals remain fully handcrafted.
We’ve utilized AI to assist in the creation of certain visual elements, such as asteroids and ships, which are featured in the game. These AI-generated assets were thoughtfully integrated to enhance your visual experience. Please note, AI is not involved in gameplay or player interactions.
AI-assisted coding tools have been used to help develop code for game updates. No AI-generated artwork, audio, music, or other creative content has been used.
In order to empower a single developer to achieve results that would otherwise not be possible, the developer utilizes a variety of AI tools to help in the creation of specific texture designs, translations as well as incorporating text-to-speech voice models for voice narration within the game.
