Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
The soundtrack is AI generated with human modifications. Art, text, localizations, and store assets were made with AI assistance and human modifications. Nothing is generated at runtime, and the game never connects to an AI service.
The developer of The Grotto Index used generative AI tools during development to help create some of the game's visual assets, including specimen pixel art and illustrations. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, and curated by the developer before being included in the game. No content is generated by AI during gameplay — every puzzle, image, and piece of text in the shipped game is fixed and was finalized before release.
Some visual assets in the game were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All gameplay systems, mechanics, and interactive content were developed by the team.
Generative AI is utilized as support in the game's development, employed for concept creation, texture upscaling, and the design of icons and visual elements.
Generative AI tools helped create and refine some concept art, and marketing images for this game. The game does not generate new AI content while you play.
Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with some in-game artwork, promotional/store artwork, and several music tracks. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and approved by the developer before use. The game does not use generative AI during runtime.
AI tools were used during development solely to assist with coding, including identifying and fixing bugs and making minor code corrections and improvements. AI does not generate any content for players during gameplay.
This game was developed with AI coding agents (Anthropic Claude / OpenAI Codex). All in-game pixel art (ingredients, relics, character faces, UI) is rendered by drawing code and pixel-placement scripts written by these agents; no diffusion/image-generation model output is included. Music and SFX are procedurally generated at runtime from AI-assisted code. In-game text, store page copy, and translations into 10 languages were produced with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer. Trailer scripts and captions were also AI-assisted. All content has been reviewed by the developer.
Lumi uses generative AI to create dynamic conversations and spoken responses in real time. AI inference, speech recognition and speech synthesis run locally on the player's PC. AI model files are downloaded during setup, but player conversations and generated responses are not sent to an external AI service. Available capabilities may vary depending on the locally selected model.
Every voice you hear in Dub Night Live is a real person. Nothing in the game is AI-generated: no AI voices, no AI art, no AI judging (scoring is player votes).
The clip editor uses two open-source machine-learning tools that run locally on your PC: one separates a clip's original voices from its music and effects, and one drafts line timings for you to review and fix. They process your own video files, never send anything to an external service, and never create content.
During development, AI was used as a coding assistant only.
Generative AI tools were used to assist with the development and coding of the game, including generating, modifying, and troubleshooting code that ships with the game.
This game used generative AI during development as a programming aid, assisting with the writing, debugging, and optimization of portions of the source code. All AI-assisted code was reviewed, edited, and tested by the developer before inclusion.
AI tools were used during development as a programming and brainstorming assistant: the game's code were written with AI assistance under my direction and review, and I used AI to talk through design ideas. All art, audio, and text in the game itself are either hand-made, procedurally generated by the game's own code, or sourced from credited CC0 asset packs (big thanks to Kenney Vleugels).
During the development of this game, generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used to assist with the creation and refinement of some visual assets, UI elements, and portions of the game code. AI-assisted content was reviewed, modified, and integrated by the developers before being included in the final game. The game does not use generative AI to create content during gameplay and does not connect to external AI services at runtime.
# AI Disclosure
Generative AI was used during development as a creative support tool for selected visual and audio assets. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, curated and integrated by the developer. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
We are a two-person indie team with over a decade of real-world game development experience. Pat has been making games for 10 years, and Nate was a professional working artist long before generative AI tools existed.
We know AI in games is a dealbreaker for some folks, and we struggle with how much to use it ourselves. We want to be completely upfront about how we built this so you have the full picture:
- Visuals: We used generative AI alongside our standard software to speed up ideation and automate tedious tasks. Every final in-game element is as handmade as any other pre-LLM digital art. Most of the icons were licensed from a third-party.
- Code: We used AI assistants for pair-programming and troubleshooting complex engine logic on a project that two non-engineers couldn't otherwise build alone.
No content is generated live in-game at runtime.
We believe in total transparency with our players. We built this game to celebrate developers, and we want to be completely open about how we made it. As busy parents navigating the job hunt during development, these tools gave us the leverage to build and ship an ambitious project that we simply couldn't have created otherwise.
The artwork in this game was pre generated with AI tools, then cut, curated, corrected and animated by the developer before it shipped. This covers the character art, the city backdrops, the item and badge icons, and the store capsules. All code, level design, music and written text are the developer's own. No third party artwork was used as a source.
During development, generative AI was used as an assistive tool to create some in-game text and translations, 2D graphics, and store images. The generated content was reviewed and modified by the developer before being included in the game. Generative AI is not used to create content while the game is running, and no player input or personal information is sent to AI services.
Take a Joke uses generative AI in a few clearly defined places.
Created during development and shipped as fixed files:
• Artwork — the game's logo, icon, and character avatars were created using AI image-generation tools, then selected, edited, and assembled by hand.
• Narrator voice — the spoken introduction is a synthesized voice performance created with ElevenLabs, reading a script we wrote.
• Cards — the great majority of the prompt and answer deck was written by hand. A small number of cards were drafted with AI assistance. Every card in the game was read and approved by a person before it shipped.
Generated during play (optional features):
• The narrator occasionally reacts to what is happening in a round. The lines come from a fixed, human-written library; a player's name is inserted and the line is voiced with ElevenLabs.
• The optional end-of-game awards ceremony writes a short, custom awards show about the game you just played — the award titles and descriptions are AI-written from that game's results, then voiced.
When those optional features are on, the game sends player nicknames and submitted answers to the services that generate them. With them off, nothing is generated while you play.
To enhance the gaming experience, a very small portion of the video footage, visual effects, and game interface were created with the assistance of artificial intelligence. AI-generated content accounts for less than 1% of the total content. Thank you for your understanding.
Loop Spot is a solo-developed game. Generative AI tools were used to assist with the creation of some visual assets, including UI artwork, logos, and capsule/marketing artwork. These assets were further edited, composited, and refined by me to fit the game’s visual direction and overall artistic vision.
The core gameplay, puzzle design, programming, and music were created by me. No generative AI was used to create the game’s music.
AI was used as a supporting visual production tool, while the game’s design, creative direction, gameplay, and music are my original work.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with the creation of some promotional and marketing materials, including the game's capsule artwork and logo. These materials were reviewed, edited, and finalized by the development team. Generative AI is not used to generate content dynamically during gameplay.
BOOKED uses generative AI-assisted artwork for some fictional in-game book covers and selected promotional/store artwork. Generative AI was also used to assist with some fictional book titles and creative concepts. All generated content was reviewed and selected by the developer before being included in the game.
I am a solo developer with ten years of experience, who started out as a 3D artist.
Every piece of 3D art in this game was made by me: the models, the UVs, the LODs. All of the game code and architecture was designed and programmed by me.
I used generative AI to assist me with some of the textures and the music.
This is a solo project with no funding and I wanted it to follow my vision so I needed any help I could get. If I ever could afford to hire people, that is what I am going to do! So we can deliver even better quality games!
The game's artwork (character illustrations, moons, and UI images) and portions of the game code were created with the assistance of generative AI tools, and were then reviewed and edited by the developer.
