Public Steam disclosure research 25,383 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
The game to contain art assets generated by artificial intelligence
ElevenLabs was used to create pre-recorded voice-over/narration audio, including some trailer narration. Some existing promotional/store page images were edited with AI-assisted tools for cleanup, enhancement, and visual polishing. These images were not generated from scratch by AI. No AI-generated content is generated live during gameplay, and the game does not use live AI systems during play.
I don't know how to code, and I only speak two languages (both badly, if I'm being honest). To actually get this game running properly and make it playable, I had to use AI as a technical assistant. I wrestled with the ethics of this because I care deeply about the line between tools and art. If this game makes any money, it will go straight into hiring professional programmers, artists, and translators. Thank you.
Part of the artwork on our store page was optimized using generative AI.
AI was used to assist on coding and to create some of the pictures and text descriptions used.
AI is used during our early Alpha development phase to create temporary placeholder art. The intent is to replace once the core game loop as been satisfied.
During development, we used generative AI image tools to produce base images for some of our 2D art assets. Our artist then worked on them to create the final assets in the game and on the store page.
Generative AI was used during the development process to assist with code optimization, refactoring, and text translation. None of the AI-generated content is generated in real-time or active during live gameplay.
Generative AI was used in the creation of reaction sound effects (burning, explosions, electricity etc.) only. All music and imagery is human-made and attributed.
Generative AI was used during the development of this game to speed up the coding process and to create some 2D visual designs. No other AI tools were used in the creation of the game.
The game includes one AI-generated audio asset: a "BBL Drizzy" beat sampled from Metro Boomin instrumental.
AI was used to help create some audio files, translations, and to enhance the quality of some textures.
This game was created with the assistance of generative AI during development. Generative AI tools were used to help produce parts of the game’s art, written content, and soundtrack. All AI-assisted content was selected, refined, and assembled by the developer as part of the final game experience.
This game is developed by a solo developer. To ship a project of this scope in a reasonable timeframe, some assets are created with the help of generative AI tools. This includes parts of the user interface, certain icons, and the game logo. All core gameplay, code, systems, and world generation are built by hand. AI is used only as a support tool for visual assets, and all generated content is reviewed and edited before use.
Some NPC images used AI-generated images.
This game uses AI-assisted tools for the creation of some content. Certain artwork, voice lines, and sound effects are generated or assisted using third-party AI services, including ElevenLabs. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and integrated during development to ensure it fits the game’s style and overall experience.
A small number of icons and minor graphical assets currently used in the game are temporary placeholders created with the help of AI. These assets will be replaced with original, custom-made artwork as development progresses. Our goal is to use fully original content in the final version.
Generative AI tools are used to assist the development process, including concept art generation, programming support, and localization. All final content is reviewed and edited by the developer.
AI tools were used during development as coding and asset-pipeline assistants (writing the procedural generation code for models, textures and music) and to help draft store page text. All content was reviewed by the developer. The game does not generate content with AI at runtime.
Generative AI was used to create or assist with the game's marketing assets, including the game icon, screenshots, capsule art, library art, and the trailer.
This game utilized AI tools during the development process, primarily to assist in generating character portraits. All AI-generated assets were reviewed and curated by the development team before being implemented into the game.
AI was used for partial asset generation and game development.
AI tools were used strictly as a minor supplementary aid for light editing of select images and textures. Additionally, AI was partially utilized to generate specific ambient sound effects and assist with voiceover processing. All core game mechanics, 3D models, and primary assets were created manually by the developer.
Erevael is made by a solo developer who uses generative AI as part of the development process. The following player-facing content is created with AI and reviewed by the developer before release: - Visual art, including assets used in the procedurally generated world. - Localization: translations are machine-generated and have not yet been professionally reviewed. Music and sound effects are sourced from licensed, human-made libraries and are not AI-generated. AI coding assistants are also used during development. The AI-generated art is a starting point. If the game finds an audience, the plan is to replace it with work from human artists in a free update for everyone, while keeping the original art available as an optional mod.
Portrait images of in-game characters, partial item icons, and cutscene illustrations for tutorial openings are AI-generated.
This game uses generative AI during development to assist in creating and refining certain content, including artwork, text, dialogue, and other game assets. All AI-generated content has been reviewed, edited, and approved by the development team before being included in the game. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay.
In addition to simple materials, textures, and music, artificial intelligence was used entirely for both in-game and store page translations.
Generative AI tools were used to create the game's promotional logo, steam achievement icons, and background music prior to development
This game uses images created with AI generation tools — including NPC photos and portraits, and some store and promotional artwork. All such content has been reviewed by the developer to ensure it contains no illegal or infringing material.
I use AI for the music
Generative AI tools (Leonardo.ai, Meshy.ai) are used to create some pre-rendered art assets and 3D model prototypes, which are then edited and art-directed by the developer. AI audio tools are used for some sound assets. All AI-generated content is reviewed and integrated by the developer; we have rights to use these outputs commercially per the tools' licensing terms.
Some of the images in the game were generated using AI during the prototype stage. Such assets may be present in the game up until the release of the demo (inclusive). During the development process, we gradually get rid of generated assets and replace them with hand-made ones. By the time of the official release, all generated content will be removed. This is a normal process for developing an indie game.
Placeholder Images, which will be removed before make public.
Images and music were edited with the assistance of AI.
The NPCs in the game integrate AI decision-making and dialogue functions.
Some store page marketing images, capsule assets, and promotional screenshots were created or edited with generative AI and then reviewed and adjusted for layout, sizing, and text. The game does not use live generative AI during gameplay, and it does not connect to any third-party AI service while players are playing.
Artificial intelligence tools were used to create sound effects, textures, and images.
AI was used solely for the production of certain promotional materials.
The informant's AI audio files are used on trains.
Solvizz was designed, written, and hand-crafted by a small team, but generative AI played a supporting role in parts of production. Specifically, some placeholder art (achievement icons, region glyph references) and placeholder audio (background music tracks and sound effects) were generated with AI tooling to prototype the game's mood before final assets. AI was also used as a coding assistant during development. All puzzle design, game mechanics, story, level content, and code decisions were authored and reviewed by humans. No player-submitted data is sent to any AI system at runtime — the game is fully offline. (This text was also generated with the help of AI)
Store page artwork (capsule images and header) was created with the assistance of AI image generation tools (Stable Diffusion / Flux). All in-game content, text, and gameplay logic is human-authored. No AI is used to generate content during gameplay.
Some images, including the Steam cover, were generated with the help of artificial intelligence.
Generative AI tools are used to assist in drafting text and setting up this Steam store page, as well as marketing materials.
Generative AI was used only for marketing materials: background music in the trailer and banner artwork for the store page
This game employs AI-generated materials to enhance overall development efficiency. Every asset has been manually reviewed, checked, and revised by our team.
Yes. Geoplanetical is a solo project, just me. I use generative AI in a few places. It helps me translate the game and this Steam page into other languages, though I check every translation myself. It also helps me research and format the game's real world starting data, which comes from public sources like the World Bank, the IMF and Natural Earth, and I verify all of that data myself too. The character portraits, around 60,000 of them, are generated with AI. The promotional images and text on this store page were made with AI as well. That's it. Nothing else in the game uses generative AI, and none of it runs while you play. If you want to know where the rest of the game's content comes from, like the real world datasets, the hand made assets and the Creative Commons icons, it's all documented in the About section inside the game.
AI has been used to refine the game balance, produce the graphics and the code for Conglomerate. As a solo indie dev, AI is used to bounce ideas and support the game development, replicating having a development partner.
Some visual assets used in the game and store page were created or modified with the assistance of generative AI, including certain UI elements, icons, and promotional artwork. AI-assisted translation was also used for some store page localizations. All AI-generated content was reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer.
Artificial intelligence is used exclusively as a tool to assist the developer in editing the source code structure (optimizing Unity script logic), checking compilation errors, and assisting with stylistic design. The AI is not constantly loaded during gameplay.
