Due to cost constraints, some of the in-game art resources (some item icons) in this project are generated using AI, while the video part is entirely shot on real machines with a small amount of post-production special effects. The content generated by AI accounts for less than 1% of the total material.
Part of the screen is assisted by AI
Cutscenes and music were designed and generated by AI tools.
During the development of Through the Edges, generative AI tools were used to create certain graphical elements and musical compositions. However, all AI-generated content has been carefully edited, refined, and adjusted manually to match the game's artistic style and atmosphere. AI does not influence gameplay in real time and does not generate content during the playthrough. All storylines, characters, and dialogues were written manually to ensure a unique and well-crafted narrative experience.
AI was used for some art and dialog to supplement the extensive assets created by designers and actors.
Our game does not use AI to influence gameplay, player behavior, difficulty, or decision-making. The only temporary use of AI in the project is for generating placeholder narrator voice-over lines during development. All narration content is written by our team, and the AI is used solely as a text-to-speech tool for prototyping and demo purposes. These AI-generated voice-overs are planned to be fully replaced with recorded performances by a human voice actor before release. No other AI systems are used in the project.
Some graphical assets in the game were created or modified using artificial intelligence algorithms. This applies only to certain elements of the game visual artwork.
NO generative AI will be in the FINAL game. For the current DEMO only, AI (Adobe Firefly) was used to create some art for the demo, but it is being replaced by hand-made art before the full game launch.
AI-generated content disclosure The developer's description of how their game uses AI-generated content is as follows: Due to cost constraints, avoidance of sensitive information, etc., we used AI-assisted generation of pre-rendered footage in a very small number of videos: news images, sea freighters, live footage, and cinematics. The content with AI-generated appearances does not exceed 1% of the total amount of material (about 3-4 minutes), so please bear with us!
The title page for game (a castle like structure in a bleak landscape) was generated by AI. Some of the backgrounds for the menus were also generated by AI (stone walls and niches)
All character images except for the hero classes were created in Daz Studio, and icons were made in Photoshop using Creative Commons assets. Most older backgrounds were later touched up with an AI tool. The story, dialogues, quests, gameplay and balancing were written and crafted by the developer over years of work.
This game makes limited use of generative AI tools. Some images and user interface elements were created with the assistance of AI during development.
We use AI to let our robots express themselves! If a robot became alive, it wouldn’t come pre-programmed with the perfect way to express its thoughts or emotions — it would have to figure it out along the way. That’s why the hero robots in Endless Machines use AI to give voice to their thoughts and feelings. What they say isn’t always polished or logical. It's quirky, weird, funny, and sometimes unexpectedly touching. It’s not a scripted, perfect dialogue. It’s more like a robot trying to make sense of the world — and itself — in real time. This approach makes their personalities dynamic and unpredictable. For us, that’s what makes AI-driven dialogue a perfect fit for the game: It’s about learning, exploring, and growing — just like the robots themselves. Under the hood, the game runs a small language model that has been custom fine-tuned for each robot's personality. It is instructed to speak through prompt engineering, ensuring the robot stays in character and relates to the game's lore. The model does not require online access. We chose to use SmolLM because we were looking for a language model where the training background, technical setup, and use of data are transparent (open source and based on publicly available texts), and where the model can be run locally. We use this locally hosted language model (LLM) to generate text content during gameplay. What the robots say in the game is defined and moderated by us. We have written a set of foundational texts that form the basis for each robot’s personality, tone, and way of expressing itself. From that foundation, they “build” further and develop over time. Endless Machines does not and cannot collect any data from the person playing the game. All outputs are guided by custom prompt engineering, custom fine-tuning, and are controlled by local code at runtime to ensure appropriate content. More details on the model architecture and dataset can be found here: 🔗 https://huggingface.co/datasets/HuggingFaceTB/smoltalk
AI has only been used for the background image, an underground castle with skeletons, which is displayed behind the game logo and on the main menu of the game. Nothing else.
Some art scenes utilized AI to assist in production
We use AI tools to enhance the overall quality of the game, specifically for background music, translation, and streamlining early-stage work. We guarantee that all final art assets in the game have been meticulously hand-finished and completed by human artists.
The AI image generator Dall-E was used to create imagery within the game.
The current iteration of the game (the 5th Dimension World Builder application) does not utilize A.I. technology. However the beta release of the game following the end of early access in 2026, will empower players to create in-game companions called Mechs that will utilize large language model technology to produce humanlike conversational responses to questions and comments from players during the course of gameplay user experience
AI used in conjunction with 3D software for art and models.
We have generated art concepts using AI before artists render final art.
I'm using AI to generate some artwork for loading screen or menu background, i didn't want them to be empty so i used AI to make it more interesting
Card templates are created with some assistance from AI, then refined with design tools such as GIMP.
The game uses AI to generate image and audio resources, thereby providing a rich array of playable content.
All images in the game were generated using AI technology. This includes character designs, backgrounds, and various visual elements throughout the game. By leveraging AI, our goal was to create unique and visually appealing graphics that enhance the overall gaming experience. Additionally, the music was also generated by AI, contributing to the immersive and original atmosphere of the game.
We used AI technology to generate some images and videos. The images include promotional graphics, game icons, some in-game ending interfaces, and mini-game UI screens. The videos consist of AI-generated segments depicting Fang Xiaoyu at different life stages interacting with Fang Zhilian, scenes showing the post-time-travel daily lives of protagonists from "Game Of Fate" 1-3 series (such as riding mammoths during the Ice Age or landing on another planet in spacesuits), as well as a display case presenting successful case studies of a human cloning program initiated by Chronos Corporation in a parallel timeline. Since these visual scenarios could not be feasibly captured through live-action filming, AI technology was utilized for their production.
In the game, the background image of the main interface and the static materials included in the plot animations are presented in a form that combines the original AI - generated images with subsequent modifications.
Artificial intelligence was used during the game's development to create various parts of the environment and assist with photobashing. AI was applied to generate unique textures, landscapes, and design elements, which helped speed up the development process and add distinctive visual features to the game.
I have used AI-generated cover art as a placeholder. I hope to change it when I can afford an artist.
AI-generated art object
Part of the text on the store page was translated using AI.
Part of art workflow, use as stock images to draw over and photo bash. Use ChatGPT to elaborate idea into description, general programming helper, proof-reader and translator.
Armored Rail uses AI-generated content liberally. The game code is created using industry standard tools like Claude Code and Windsurf. Art assets are created using generative AI (textures, images and meshes). Music and sound effects are human made.
The AI was used to generate the base images for the backgrounds. Subsequently and if necessary, the images were finalized by the artist.
Some graphic content on the store page was generated with Artificial Intelligence. In the game, some graphic images, the paintings hanging around the house, and the voice acting are created with Artificial Intelligence.
I love AI. AI allows for people like me to put a creative story that would otherwise have never been possible out in the public sphere.
Some marketing artwork for this game was produced in part through the use of AI. The game itself is NOT AI-generated. In-game content and assets, including its graphics, music, story and dialogue, are human-generated.
We use style transfer and generative ai to assist in art asset development.
AI tools were utilized to create various visual elements for the game, including character portraits, the world map, and segments featured in the game's introductory sequence.
Used AI for in-game round background and card art
Voice for cutscenes generations, some backgrounds references for cutscenes generations.
WE USED AI TO TRANSLATE TO ENGLISH
We used AI for the character voiceovers, but we'll have actors for the release! We also touched up our key illustration to fit the pixel aspect ratio.
A part of poster images in the background street was generated in AI.
Some 3D models of objects, sounds, music, translation and voice-over of text
Some art pictures, character models, animations, and story scripts may be created by AI after generating prototypes
We used AI to generate Voices and for Music for our Game.
Generative AI tools were used as part of the development workflow for programming assistance, debugging support, implementation planning, and visual refinement. AI-assisted visual workflows were used to explore, refine, or produce some visual elements. All such content was reviewed and integrated manually by the developer. Ashes of Morgravia does not use live generative AI during gameplay. The game does not generate AI content at runtime and does not send player input to AI services.
AI was used in the creation of some background images and UI icons. No AI is used to generate content or code during gameplay.
AI has been used for pre-rendered images
