At Lovely Bytes, we're not just developers, we're passionate gamers like you. And because we understand the gamer's perspective, we firmly believe that the heart of a truly great game lies in the emotional depth and authenticity that only human creativity can provide. In the development of UNHEIM, artificial intelligence plays a supporting role to accelerate our production, and is used mindfully to help us with certain time-consuming tasks, such as visual brainstorming, or speeding up the process of creating some of the textures. Additionally, AI bravely tackles the Herculean task of turning our chaotic creative thoughts and wild brainstorming scribbles into something resembling coherent, actionable documents. Our approach to AI is to use it as a tool to augment our skills and capabilities, not to substitute the craft elements that are crucial for creating a deeply engaging and memorable game experience. Now go and have fun getting scared to death, knowing that what you experience is the result of a mindful blend of assistive technology and traditional craftsmanship.
AI was used to generate backgrounds and characters raw images, such images were manipulated, clipped and altered to assemble the final game ones. No real time IA is used in the game.
This work uses CG and background illustrations partially created by image generation AI.
Background images in some scenes are created using artificial intelligence with significant post-processing. Some animations in the game are based on neural network animations with significant manual post-processing.
Some art assets were AI-generated.
Character voices are produced by VOIVEVOX software and licensed by the voice owners. Songs are sung by AI virtual singers of ACE software, and have obtained relevant commercial licenses. The English text of this game is translated by AI Translator, and the translated text is from the game script.
Some translations are AI-generated.
This game contains works created by use of AI in the creation of dialogue audio for the characters. All AI generated content was created as original works by the developer.
The graphics in the game (backgrounds and sprites) - are the result of strong processing of 3d models.
A few background concepts were generated with AI that retains respect to artist copyright (Adobe Firefly) but we are still working on reworking these few instances with our art team!
Some object textures are AI generated to apparently look AI generated as a commentary, distorted and non human (dreamtexture plugin for Blender with prompts like "AI looking alien food" and such. Pictures of faces have been generated with this-person-does-not-exist.com to look like conventionnaly beautiful but generic portraits, again foreshadowing the idea what a person looks like, from an AI, algorithmically driven system.
A texture for one backround asset was created using generative AI. The paintings, posters and other artwork you see in the game are NOT made by AI.
AI has been used in a limited way* for the following aspects: Text Localization, Speech Localization and Musical Audio. *The base was AI-generated, but the transformative creation built upon it stands as an original work. Most of the art, backgrounds, characters, and dialogues were generated using different AI technologies and tools.
Three images - out of almost 600 images, videos and other files files included in the game - were prepared using generative AI. The Case of Andrew D. is an Alternate Reality game and player is expected to look for information and clues on the web and in social media. While most pictures used are arranged photos taken in a real life and in real places, to avoid confusion we didn't want to use photos of real people. To make sure people referred to in the game (apart from some cameos) don't exist and can't be located nor stalked, three portrait photos used in the game were produced with AI models.

Only the tutorial narration is AI voice generated.
Two profile pictures (one of these designs is also used as a decal on a tool), all of the "records" in the main characters room, designs on the vape packaging, and a background image for a vending machine were created with Adobe Generative Fill. The Security Robots and The Coffee Time video use audio generated by TTS Maker. The TOS was templated with AI as a generic TOS and meaningful elements were edited in. The Coffee Drink descriptions are pure, unfiltered, AI corpo-garbage-text. I used AI for these purposes because the uncanny-valley, soulless, style was exactly what I wanted as an art direction. I wanted to depict a future in which the soul of the world has been killed by AI. Making humans create art in the style of AI sounds completely dehumanizing, but you're entitled to your opinion.
We use AI for creating some of the promotional images, and very small percentage of 2D art.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclosure for NecroNomNomNom: Eldritch Horror Dating From the very outset, "NecroNomNomNom: Eldritch Horror Dating" was conceived as a cosmic horror experiment in itself. Instead of passively wondering how generative AI might impact creative professions, we decided to confront that existential dread head-on. Our core design philosophy was to push the boundaries of AI's capabilities, attempting to completely replace human creative input and, in essence, make ourselves obsolete in the game development process. Our findings, however, have been profoundly ironic and surprisingly reassuring. While generative AI played a significant role in various aspects of the game's development (including concept generation, preliminary asset creation, dialogue outlines, and certain code snippets), we discovered that achieving a cohesive, engaging, and polished experience still required substantial human oversight and manual intervention. AI, in its current form, proved to be an invaluable tool for iteration and initial ideation, but it could not replicate the nuanced artistic direction, problem-solving, and quality assurance that only human creativity and discernment can provide. Ultimately, this experiment demonstrated that the path to creative obsolescence is far from straightforward. In a twist we didn't anticipate, the very act of attempting to replace ourselves with AI actually created new roles and opportunities for human collaborators in areas where AI fell short. This project, born from a fear of replacement, has, against all odds, generated more work for creative professionals rather than eliminating it. The human touch remains indispensable in bringing a truly unique and compelling vision to life.
All images are neural network generated and hand-drawn by me.
AI is used to create achievement icons.
Used to create some visual assets for subsequent refinement by the artist.

We use AI-based tools to assist in the creation of specific static User Interface (UI) assets. This includes inventory icons, status effect indicators (such as hunger and panic alerts), and the background artwork for the 'Quit Game' confirmation screen. All AI-generated assets were manually reviewed, edited, and integrated to fit the game's overall aesthetic. The core game environments and character models are human-created

Description of the Game’s Use of AI Our game does not use generative AI to create gameplay behavior or influence player decisions. All narrative content, character behavior, dialogue, level design, and artistic direction are hand-crafted by the developer. We only use AI in limited, non-gameplay ways, such as: Development assistance (e.g., debugging or improving scripts). Optional asset prototyping (concept sketches used as early references before creating final assets). No AI systems interact with the player during gameplay, and no player data is used to train AI models. The in-game guidance, character responses, and story progression are fully authored, not generated dynamically by AI.
In-game patient responses are generated in real time with offline local language model. Game logo animation and part of game music samples/loops have been produced with tools utilizing generative technology.
The Art Director chose a composition for each background. They were then made by professional artists or, for a few, bought on Adobe Stock. Finally, the art director enhanced each background in Photoshop and also through LeonardoAI.
The package image of this game was created using multiple AI tools. Background image and part of the background character: Created using Stable Diffusion and provided under the CreativeML Open RAIL-M license. Part of the logo design: Created by Sonic-Alpha using OpenAI's generative AI, "ChatGPT," under the paid "ChatGPT Plus" plan. No AI-generated elements are included in the main game or in-game content.
AI generated music.
Pictures in the gallery and voice acting generated
Chat-GPT and Sora were used to enhance some of the cutscenes, along with Suno and Eleven Labs for voice acting.
Generative AI has been critical for the development of this game and is infact a part of it's lore as well. Generative AI assisted us in producing pre-renders for our backgrounds and complimenting the high quality of our human made animations, the backgrounds of this game wouldn't have looked as beautiful as it does nor even possible had BOS released before generative AI existed. In simple: The game uses AI generated images for the backgrounds of different regions.
