Public Steam disclosure research 25,394 disclosures tracked
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across games, and follow recorded changes. This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to statements published on individual store pages.
Code help, debugging and other development work.
Capsule art, trailers and promotional material.
Pre-made art, audio, writing and other game assets.
Interactive or runtime AI features disclosed by the developer.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam. Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
Some images, icons, voices, and text are generated by AI.
AI Music: The BGM was sampled by AI using human-composed reference tracks and was ultimately refined by a sound designer.
The images for the steam store were created using concept images, some of which were ai-generated. And the text for the steam store page was translated using google translate. Except for english, dutch/nederlands, and german/deutsch.
Some visual, audio, and text elements were created using generative AI tools and were later edited and refined by the developer.
This project incorporates AI-assisted coding and text translation.
Some assets in this game were generated or enhanced using AI.
Our crafting system depends on AI to generate new game data when you combine a combination of items not yet seen before, so you never run out of weapons to discover and experiment with. We also generate text and sprites for any new items created. Assets for the game also use image generation: the title screen and other UI elements use generated textures and graphics. These images have been touched up by a human and reused on our Steam page also.
Game descriptions, text translations, and some images (excluding textures) are made with the assistance of artificial intelligence, while all other in-game resources are handmade

We are a small studio with only six people actively involved in development. For teams like ours, generative AI is a supportive tool that helps us realize a creative vision that would otherwise be completely out of reach within our budget. Here is exactly how we utilized generative AI in our game: • We used generative AI during the prototyping and concept art phases. Every AI-generated image was manually modified, iterated upon, and finalized by our artist. • The sea shanties in the game feature AI-generated vocals and music, but the lyrics are original and written by our team. • Certain voice-over (VO) lines were generated using AI.
Some of the music was composed using AI
This game was developed by a solo developer with the assistance of generative AI tools during production. AI tools such as ChatGPT were used as a development aid for Unreal Engine guidance, technical explanations, spell-checking, and drafting some in-game text and UI messaging. ChatGPT was also used to generate some placeholder images and audio assets during early development. Some 3D models and textures were created using AI-assisted tools such as Tripo3D.ai. These assets may be refined, replaced, or improved over time as the project evolves and budget allows. All gameplay systems, mechanics, design decisions, Blueprint scripting, and overall game implementation were created and assembled by the developer. No AI system autonomously generated gameplay code or core systems. Additional assets were purchased through the Unreal Engine Fab Marketplace where noted. AI tools were used strictly as production assistants to support solo development.

Generative AI has been used to assist in developing this game.
Burner Empire uses generative AI in the following ways: During Development Some visual assets in the game were created with the assistance of AI image generation tools. These assets were reviewed, curated, and integrated by the development team as part of the game's overall visual design. In Gameplay Burner Empire features an AI-driven bot fleet that populates the game world with computer-controlled players. These bots use a combination of scripted decision logic and AI-driven behavior modeling to simulate realistic player activity — cooking drugs, deploying dealers, traveling between districts, and engaging in PvP. The bot fleet exists to ensure the game world feels active and competitive regardless of the current number of human players online. The bot fleet is not generative AI in the traditional sense — it does not produce text, images, or creative content. It is a behavioral simulation system designed to make the multiplayer environment feel alive during off-peak hours and at launch while the player community grows. What AI Does Not Do No generative AI is used to create real-time dialogue, procedurally generate game content during play, or make decisions that affect monetization or player accounts.
Some marketing materials, capsule icons.
GreenMars: Expedition 744 is a solo-led independent project. Generative AI tools are used occasionally as production support for certain pre-rendered content and communication materials. The artistic direction, original designs, and core creative decisions remain fully defined internally by human authors. The game does not use generative AI during gameplay.
This game uses generative AI for a limited amount of pre-made content created during development, including some achievement icons and certain voice lines we could not perform ourselves. No AI-generated content is created during gameplay, and the game does not connect to any external third-party AI services while you play.
Generative AI tools may be used during production for some localization and minor audio elements. Core gameplay content and game artwork are not created using AI.
AI-Assisted Localization
Some of the pre-made visual elements used in Quadrix—including certain card images/templates, game music, and some game mode icons—were created with the help of generative AI tools. These elements were reviewed, selected, and refined by the developer before being added to the game to ensure they align with the game’s visual style and usability requirements. Quadrix does not use real-time generative AI during gameplay, and players cannot generate AI-generated content within the game.
This game has some Generative AI elements (textures, icons,...) that are mostly placeholders for the time until my artist is able to make our own.
GOLF+ uses AI-assisted tools in limited areas of development such as in-game voice-over audio and select 2D visual assets, such as battle medals. Additionally, AI tools are used to assist in the creation of some marketing materials.
Used only to create narrative images.
The robot is very very early draft to be replaced by our busy lead artist
Generative AI tools were used solely to assist in creating the logo and promotional art featured on this Steam store page. No generative AI was used in the creation of the game itself—all in-game assets, code, writing, and gameplay mechanics are 100% handcrafted by the development team.
Disharmony utilizes AI-assisted translation for some of its localized content.
AI technology was used in the localization process of this game.
The developers use AI to control bots during combat.
As a solo developer working on a passion project, I utilized generative AI tools to assist in creating some of the visual assets for the game. This includes character portraits, background art, and certain UI elements. All music, audio and localization in the game are entirely human-made and do not use any generative AI technologies.
We have used AI primarily for image generation and for optimizing the network system in Typer3000. AI-driven image generation allowed us to rapidly create and iterate visual assets such as backgrounds, interface elements, and stylistic variations, ensuring a consistent and scalable visual design. In addition, we have used AI to support the setup and optimization of the multiplayer network architecture. It helped us refine data transmission strategies, reduce latency, and improve synchronization of player inputs, resulting in a smooth and responsive real-time gameplay experience.
We used some AI for brainstorming copy and art direction ideas. Models used in the game were all produced by humans.
Due to its independent development, this game makes limited use of AI to generate images and model materials
Our Resident AI Drone is voiced by Text-to-Speech.
Some characters and scenes in the game are generated by AI.
A single AI-generated illustration of a character kicking a sign.
Generative AI was used during the development of Arcane Souls to create and iterate on visual assets, specifically the game's icon, logo elements, and UI concepts. All AI-generated content has been manually reviewed, curated, and edited to ensure it aligns with the game's artistic direction and does not violate any third-party rights or Steam’s community standards.
Generative AI was used for the localization of in-game text and the store page.
AI usage has been very light and, in my opinion, the correct/optimal use of AI. AI has been predominately used in the form of a chatbot efficiency tool. I've used it to troubleshoot matchmaking logic flows, I've pasted blocks of text for it to clean up readability or catch spelling errors, I just asked it for the quickest way to change images to grayscale in MS Paint as I was creating Steam Achievements. Things like that. I have hired an artist that claims he does not use AI, though I admit I cannot completely verify that. The hero image and some title art was developed by him. All sprite work in the game itself was made by humans. Music was pulled from various places. My brother-in-law created some songs and did not use AI. Other tracks and sound effects were pulled from free-use websites that did not make any AI disclosures. Really truly, the heart and soul of this game is for humans made by humans. AI has been used, but only as the tool it is meant to be, not as the replacement of human creativity it is slowly elbowing its way into.
Some of the images and in game models and sounds are created using AI to speed up the development process and allow focus on core gameplay elements. All elements are reviewed by devs. No AI is running or applied during gameplay.
GenAI was used for the generation of limited in-game and store page artwork. I am actively seeking an artist open to minor projects to replace AI content.
We used AI to generate initial music tracks, concept art, and temporary translations into some languages. All materials were then thoroughly edited, reworked, and finalized by humans. Nothing went straight from the generator into the game.
In game text localization provided by AI enabled API service.
I use AI for generation in my programming. ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.
Text in the game and its promotional materials is machine translated. No code or graphic assets in the game itself, or its promotional materials, have been generated using machine learning algorithms.
AI is used solely to create materials for marketing purposes.
AI tools were used to assist in the creation of the trailer and promotional materials displayed on this store page.
Generative AI was used as a supportive tool to enhance the visual details of character portraits and a specific in-game interactable item. Additionally, AI-assisted technology was utilized to refine multi-language translations to ensure linguistic accuracy for global players, and AI-generated voice technology was used for the audio narration in the main teaser video.
The achievement images are AI generated. Nothing else in the game uses generative AI
Generative AI is starting to be used solely for sound effects, and I'm limiting my use to sound effects only. Now, as in the future, music and art will not be created using generative AI.
