We've used AI for placeholder assets in early development, all said material has been watermarked to avoid confusion with real art during Playtests, and will be totally removed on Demo and Launch builds. In terms of Coding, we're using Github Copilot to enhance our IDEs with improved code hints, but never Vibe Coding.
Voice generation
This game implements NPC intelligent dialogue function through DeepSeek artificial intelligence service, enabling characters to generate real-time natural language responses based on player input. All AI generated content is temporary text that automatically clears and does not store any records after exiting the conversation.
Some of the game graphics in this work utilize generative AI.
We’ve been working since 2009 (when the Bot Colony concept was unveiled at GDC) on a game where players can say ANYTHING to a character and be understood. Adding a Generative AI component to our proprietary dialogue technology enables us to make the dream come true.
As a small team with a limited budget, we used AI to assist with background music and multi-language localization. This allowed us to bring the game to a wider audience while focusing our resources on gameplay and visual design.
AI was used in supportive areas such as text drafting and translation. Scene designs were created by the developer, and some visual assets were adapted from pre-made sources.
This game uses generative AI within its chat system to provide a richer and more personalized text-based interaction experience. The AI is used solely for real-time generation of dialogue and does not involve images, voice, or other media. All generated content is moderated through filtering mechanisms to prevent inappropriate or copyright-infringing output.
Some of the textures used in this game were sourced from AI and heavily modified.
All renders were created before AI processing. We used Stable Diffusion on the pre-rendered images to give the game a unique visual style.
AI Use in Final Fall for Players: In Final Fall, AI is used to generate the main menu background music and soundtrack. Additionally, AI was used as a writing assistant for some dialogue.
Generative AI tools were used to help develop a few in game textures for the portraits and playing cards.

AI is used to create the initial images. All images are then refined through a series of edits. This includes upscaling, adjusting lighting and color balance, detailed touch-ups, redrawing specific elements, noise reduction, sharpening, adding artistic effects and more to ensure the highest visual quality possible. AI tools also assist in the creation of the game's original soundtrack. These pieces undergo extensive refinement through edits, including rewriting melodies and lyrics, adding custom instrumentation, mixing and mastering each track and more.
This game was developed using original content created specifically for this project. All music featured in the game was generated using AI composition tools that allow commercial use. No copyrighted music or sound assets were used. Additionally, all text descriptions and promotional content were written using AI assistance to enhance clarity and presentation. No third-party intellectual property has been used in the game's development or marketing materials. We are committed to respecting intellectual property rights and ensuring our content complies with the Steam Distribution Agreement.

We occasionally used AI tools to help generate textures, images, ambient sounds, or rough concept ideas that were later refined & edited by hand. Nearly everything you see, hear, and play in this game, including the characters, environments, animations, gameplay systems, writing, and music production, was created manually by the developer & the bands & artists featured in the game. Every AI-assisted element was edited, remixed, or rebuilt to fit the game’s unique world and tone. AI tools were used for concept generation and minor asset assistance. No unlicensed likenesses, or copyrighted material was used.

All CGs, sprites, music, voice acting, and writing is human-generated by the artists listed on the credits screen in game. AI-generated assets were used exclusively for backgrounds as a cost-saving measure due to being a solo indie developer on a limited budget. By using generated backgrounds, the available funds were better spent on having more important human-generated assets, like MANY more CGs, voice acting, and new outfits for the characters. An in-depth post regarding this decision was made prior to development on Patreon and Discord. All members were informed about its use and the tradeoffs being considered. Members and supporters agreed they'd prefer to have more CGs and voiced lines instead of custom backgrounds. No patreon funds or profits from the earlier game were pocketed. This was purely a resource allocation decision. If the funds were available to do all custom backgrounds, that would have been done.
