Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
As a micro independent team, we utilized AI tools to assist in creating minor graphical assets. This allowed our super limited resources to remain focused entirely on the core gameplay mechanics, coding, and storytelling that define the experience.
We use generative AI as an assistive tool in the following areas of development:
Art (Character Portraits) — AI is used to generate initial draft sketches for character portraits. All AI-generated drafts are manually refined, redrawn, and finalized by our artists to meet our quality and style standards.
Art (UI Icons) — AI is used to generate a portion of UI icons for the game interface.,
All AI-generated outputs are reviewed, modified, and approved by our team before inclusion in the final product. We ensure that no AI-generated content infringes on third-party intellectual property rights.
A portion of the card art in Gather CCG was created with the assistance of generative AI. Every piece of AI-generated content has been hand-selected and verified by the developer to maintain high quality and ensure full compliance with copyright standards.
As a solo developer starting out a hobby project, I used different AI generated images early on.
I have since, after deciding to stick with the game, attempted to clean up and change to known license images and content, or make and remake where possible.
This game includes content created with the assistance of generative AI. AI tools were used to help create some visual assets, including promotional images, UI/background concepts, and selected in-game art references. AI-assisted coding tools were also used during development to help draft, refactor, debug, and improve parts of the game code. All generated or AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and integrated by the developer before inclusion in the game.
During the game's Early Access (EA) phase, we used AI to quickly build gameplay prototypes, including some art assets. These assets will be iteratively replaced upon the official 1.0 release.
At current development stage, the AI generated pre-rendered content are only used for placeholders. Later they will be replaced by the actual hand drawn artworks.
Some assets in Witherheart, including visuals and audio, were created with the assistance of generative AI tools. All content has been curated and integrated by the development team.
AI tools were used to assist in the conceptualization of store page art and background art. The final in-game assets are hand-crafted pixel art based on these AI-generated concepts.
About localization
Please note:The English localization is AI-assisted and human-verified.
We are continuously refining the text, so please feel free to join us and share any feedback !
Some minor visual elements such as parts of the logo design and a few user-interface textures were originally assisted by generative tools and then refined manually.
Generative AI was used during development to assist with localization and limited code drafting.
All final shipped content was reviewed and edited by the developer before release.
This game contains some pre-generated content created with the help of generative AI, including portions of certain art, audio, and store or marketing visuals. All such content was reviewed and integrated by the developer. No live-generated AI is used during gameplay.
As we are a 2 person team, localizations are mostly generated with AI and vetted with the ongoing help of the community.
If you would like to help with vetting and fixing the translations, head over to the discussions page to find out how on the pinned topic.
Some promotional images were created or enhanced using generative AI tools. The game also contains AI-generated voice narration. All AI-generated content was reviewed and integrated by the developer
In the demo version, to support development, we use AI-assisted tools to create PLACEHOLDER CONTENT ONLY. These assets are temporary and will NOT appear in the final version of the game.
In the development stage of the game early concept arts were altered or partly generated using Artificial Intelligence.
These generated images were then used as a refference for the artists who worked on the designs of the game.
This game contains content created with the assistance of generative AI during development.
Generative AI tools were used to help create and iterate on parts of the game code, sound effects, music, artwork, images, and multilingual translations. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, edited, selected, and integrated by the developer.
The game does not use generative AI to create content during gameplay.
This game includes AI-assisted content created during development. AI tools were used to support the creation of certain visual assets and/or design elements. All content has been reviewed, refined, and curated by the development team to ensure quality and consistency.
This game includes a small number of pre-generated visual assets created with the assistance of generative AI during development, specifically certain background images and button icons
Generative AI (Claude by Anthropic) was used extensively during development to assist with code generation. The game's icon was also created with AI image tools. Game design, mechanics, and creative direction were by the developer.
I use AI in this project for generation of some static art assets such as title screens, UI elements, Steam store assets, item images in inventory, and the large world map.
AI is NOT used for generating the engine-rendered gameplay, with exception of an image of an item dropped to the ground.
All environment tiles, objects and decorations, as well as animated entities (humans, monsters, etc) are generated by human artists.
This is a very demanding project; should I get more money and access to artists, ideally I would replace all AI assets. Ideally...
Voice performances are AI-assisted. A small number of visual assets were created with AI assistance. Sound design, gameplay, and narrative content are original. No AI-generated content is produced during gameplay.
Marshals of War is the result of years of work by a solo developer, supported by freelance artists and collaborators. Generative AI has been used to explore ideas and directions, influencing some assets in the game and its marketing. Handcrafted work remains the primary process behind the game’s development.
This game has used AI in debugging and some code tweaks with help from a human, and some development assets that have since been replaced with human made assets
