Where do games disclose AI use?
Search developers’ Steam disclosures, compare classified AI use across
games, and follow recorded changes.
This index adds cross-game classifications and statistics to
statements published on individual store pages.
Groups reflect automatic analysis of public disclosures; mature records are excluded. These counts do not measure AI use across all of Steam.
Missing or unclear statements cannot establish whether a game uses AI.
In "Lone Howl", artificial intelligence is utilised carefully and responsibly to enhance the player's experience in various aspects of the game:
Images and Banners: We have used AI beforehand to create some of the banners and loading screen images you will encounter throughout the game. This allows us to generate unique visuals that capture the dark and mystical atmosphere of the "Lone Howl" universe. It’s important to note that these images were generated prior to release and do not involve any adaptation or analysis based on player behaviour.
Translations: AI is also employed to assist with the translation of the game into different languages, ensuring that the narrative and dialogues maintain their essence and fluency, regardless of the language in which the game is played.
Dialogue and Voices: Some of the characters' dialogue and voices were generated or enhanced using AI. This allowed us to bring characters and creatures to life with a vocal diversity that enriches the player's immersion.
It’s important to highlight that we do not use algorithms that study or analyse players. All AI use in "Lone Howl" is applied statically, with the goal of complementing the experience without compromising privacy or the authenticity of the content.
Generative Artificial Intelligence has been partially used to produce the promo art of the game (i.e. the image used to promote the game).
The in-game content has been produced from scratch by 3D artists, game designers and developers. Only some audio content (i.e. the voice of the robot) has been prerecorded by using AI generative tools.
In the creation of Cast Cats, AI was used as an auxiliary tool. Almost all images (including the logo), sounds and music were created by the AI, and later were delicately and manually processed in various editors. Our goal is, first of all, a pleasant aesthetic appearance. And secondly, to show how AI can help to create a beautiful game.
But most importantly: All players should feel comfortable and have fun playing the game.
AI has been used in the generation of musical compositions and several UI graphical elements. AI was also used in the making of character dialogue (NOTE: dialogues in-game were spoken by a real actor, but changed, updated, and/or modified to suit different characters).
Much of Fire Isle uses Adobe Firefly generated art as a base for the UI buttons. I've further edited/photoshopped all of this art personally to better suit the game's art style and make it my own. As a broke solo dev without much of a 2D art background and no funding to hire anyone, I chose to go this route rather than to not see Fire Isle made at all.
Despite the reasoning behind it, I understand many might not be comfortable with AI generated content. I hope the game itself reflects the thousands upon thousands of hours of time & effort I've put into it's creation with the goal of making a fun and memorable experience, NOT AI Slop🙏...
We used procedural AI-generated art to assist and enhance all our art for the Dogs and Cats (towers assets) inside the game. In all cases, the final product is a direct and faithful representation of the creativity and expression of the creator(s) of Elemental Dog Defense. No art was created directly by a prompt; every sprite and art piece represented in the game was first designed by hand and then enhanced with AI tools.
The use of AI for some of the UI in the game
The use of AI to help detect bugs in the code
The use of AI for some of the artwork in the store page
The use of AI for store page descriptions
The use of AI for in game and store page logos/Icons
The development of this game was greatly supported by AI tools, such as ChatGPT for coding, image recognition, and drafting the store description. Additionally, AI-generated portraits (originally published and downloadable on Bilibili) are used as background images in the AI Portraits series.
Players are able to have free-form conversations with NPCs. We also use generative AI for item data, quest generation, NPC memory and decision-making, crafting recipes, in-game events, game logic, and more.
Throughout development, I may use procedural methods and AI-based tools to assist with audio content creation (10%). However, the final result always reflects my own creativity and artistic intent.
Library Of Lyria will not contain any AI-generated content!
As we believe it is very important to have an honest relationship with our community, we will not make any secret of the fact that we used some AI content as placeholders during the very early stages of development.
Handcrafted content is our top priority, and so our game will not contain any AI content!
There some images generated by AI, prompted by the creative lead with the aim to showcase the concept he imagined. They are mainly placeholders for future artworks.
